Koi Diary 155 - Acers planted up, Koi jobs in and around pond

- Finally get my behind into gear and get the Acers planted up! And my oh my how good does it look, we love it!!!
A bit of basic Koi pond maintenance under floodlight and of course Cheddar the cat hanging around the pond, he loves it!

New garden bed looks wonderful and really sets the yard of nicely. Koi are looking awesome. I bet the cat is thinking wish I could swim with those big fish, then I could show them whose the boss around here". 😅 😅 😼
Cheers, cat is way to scared of the fish lol when he has a drink they come flying over and he sits up all scared lol
Not another video, oh my days lol, the gardening looks smart, when they grow you might find you have enough 😉, the pond and fish look awesome 👌, beware another holiday as a window cleaner 😉, you will get ill again, and we won't get anymore vids 😉, great vid, have a nice holiday 👍

deluxe maritime pine bark is the best thing to use as it will stop the weeds as long as you put a good 5to10cm down. saves a big headache of constantly weeding
Thansk, gonna see how it goes before we decide what to do, if its not that bad with weeds may just levae as is
Borders looking great , Andy . You could put some bark chippings down , which will keep the weeds down and help retain moisture 👍

The acer border is looking lovely and will be very tranquil when the rest of the plants establish, don't forget to water them 😉
I mean we lucky we have more space than other with this size house but with limited funds it just takes longer to get to where you want it all to be lol

Hack the bamboo to the ground and keep moist, it'll come back slowly at first and then go mental. Nice to see rest of the garden coming on as well

Looks good mate I will say but I would say don’t get to many acers as they need space to grow abit like our koi , you could pop in some dwarf cherry blossoms, you could pop in a small pergola

Andy, why don't you try to rotate the wooden risers below your feeder 80 degrees, so that they are either side of the feeder?

That bed looks lovely Andy. I think it would look good with the blue slate topping instead of cobbles. It will be expensive what ever you choose. Adam Byer Grow and Show...... YEah its doing its thing lol It doesnt really grow grow, there was an option of a wild meadow type matting but this needed more maintenance than the type i chose so its all succulent type plants. Ill hop up and get a close look for ppl
@@koidiaries cool thanks. I bought my 1st 2 Acer's last week and after seeing on the label that they can grow to between 2.5-4.5m kinda scared me but then I've seen yours today and I'm terrified 🤣 my garden is only 4m2 and I won't have room for a pond if they grow that big 🤣🤣
@@marciabigg469 Hahatheyre usually slower growing so dont panic, also you could do some strategic pruning and keep them smaller but nice shape
Andy, never plant bamboo in the garden it will take over everything in time. Always keep it in a large pot to stop it spreading. I agree with Hippo about covering the border with bark mulch.

Not this variety, it was originally planted behind the previous pond for about 6 years and it was fine, its a clumping variety so its quite safe

Ha no, that is a Byer Kohaku but not this years G&S one unfortunately
