the fact you give examples to what you’re teaching is amazing. thank you so much
You're very welcome!😊
I’ve been a tech for almost two years and certified for a year. This is an area that I really want to do better at. Thank you! You’re the reason I passed my ptcb a year ago ❤️
I’m glad I could help ❤️
I appreciate you. I also worked for Walgreens for years back in the day and the insurance was something I was very fearful of when I started as a tech. But after about a couple of years, it wasn’t too bad. I’ve been teaching pharmacy for the past 16 years and it gives me joy sharing what I know with students. You can always tell when people have a passion for what they do; and you, Pharmacy Tech Love, fall into that category. Keep doing what you do. 🙌
Thank you 🙏🏽
Insurances scare me as well. staff doesnt have spare time to train me so i dont touch insurance type issues. I usually hand it to someone who is more experienced..
@@brendam4607 you right. They didn't give me that to
@@brendam4607 FR they just threw me in and let me figure it out. I can do the general things, but I don't know what anything actually means. I can do less than the bare minimum, but I can't understand it
Yes I didn’t get trained much on insurance and I want to be able to bypass these issues like dur and tprs
I just finished my Pharmacy Technician program.
Thank you.❤
You’re welcome 😇 Best of luck ❤️
I love watching your videos. I’ve been a tech for 3 years now. I love it. It does get very frustrating at times though because I still have a very hard time understanding the insurance because I hadn’t had a lot of practice up until this year. But this helped a lot. Thank you so much.
You’re welcome 😇
Appreciated this video so much! Gives me more insight to what I’m actually doing since I’m just learning through the job. Anyways so glad u explain some scenarios that u have dealt with and how it’s fixed and how u phrased things when insurance came up. Thank you!🥰
You're welcome!
liked this video and hope to see more about how to solve adjudication part.
Basically if you can make more videos similar to this, I would love to watch.
This has helped TREMENDOUSLY!!!!
You’re so welcome 😉
Thank you 💕💕💕😊💕 I appreciate you for going through this for us newbies 😊😊💗💗💗

You’re so welcome 😉
Another great helpful video. Starting as a new Pharmacy technician soon and learning/ hearing about all the horror stories about insurance and billing scared me for a bit, but you give some great additional tips and things to consider to make it less disastrous. Keep up the good work!
I just started about 3 weeks ago! I love it so far. Its definitely going to be learning with experience. You’ll do great! Good luck :)
Thank you 😊

You’re welcome 😇
Thank you so much for this information! If possible for your next video is how to calculate any kind of insulin like figure out how much to dispense or day supply, I know that might be a lot, but that is another one of my issues. Thank you so much for your help and knowledge you are amazing and appreciate you a lot❤️❤️ my test is coming soon I’m a little nervous 😭😭
Hi there! No it’s not a lot to ask at all. A lot of ppl struggle with insulin amounts. It’s actually quite easy. I’ll make that my next video. Thank you so much for visiting my channel ❤️
I really appreciate you for these tutorials and info.😊
You’re welcome thank you so much for your comment!

I love your videos! I’m currently training to be a Pharmacy Tech now! I have my license and I’m currently working at CVS PHARMACY
Congratulations 🎉 Keep at it and always try to move up if you can.
@@PharmacyTechLove thank you so much!!!
Retail is rough! I started with Walgreens! Are you still hanging in there? :) I’m doing LTC work from home data entry now and I wouldn’t change it for anything! I do still work at Walgreens on the weekends
@@stevenkyle2313 hi yes I’m still hanging in there it is crazy here though they’ve cut our hours tremendously…but I’m just thankful that I still have my other job
Thank you for your great information
You’re welcome! Please feel free to drop any comments if you need help with anything.
Often times when you get drug not covered it actually is covered you just have to find the right ndc. I don't know why but each drug has a million different manufacturers and each one has a different ndc.
Facts!!
The problem is that no one wants to train anyone properly in this career. That has been my experience anyway.
Tbh! I feel like that’s everyone’s experience, I haven’t had a tech yet to say that they’ve been trained properly. You are so right!
@PharmacyTechLove Thank you! I love your videos btw. And thank you for sharing your knowledge ❤️
Also, I was mainly asking you to demonstrate on the board how to put the insurance info into the profile. I apologize for not being more pacific with what I'm asking.
Hello. It’s at the very end of the video. All pharmacies data entry will be different.
Specific. Pacific is an ocean
Omg thank u this video helps a lot
Glad it helped!
you are the best thank you !
Glad it helped!
I passed my PTCE in July and I am really trying to get into the hospital or mail order pharmacy. I'm working in an independent retail pharmacy now and I think some things may be a little different than working in a chain pharmacy. I really don't like working in retail pharmacy.
Hospital and retail are definitely opposite. But don’t be discouraged you can make the transition.
Thanks 🤗Great 👍Job👏
Do you have show proof to the state board that you have a certain amount of hours to to the ptcb test/ to become licensed?
Yes you do. Once you apply to take your PTCB exam you will be required to submit that application to your boss. And your boss has to sign off on your 500 hours.
Hi Tech Love! I just started training as well as a technician at work publix pharmacy. Is it possible to show on the computer how to enter the information step by step. For example the patient is dropping off their prescription, how to process this step.
Unfortunately I no longer work in the retail setting so I won’t be able to show you that step by step. However, I will try to reach out to a few managers/friends to see if they will allow me to come into the pharmacy to dl that. If you don’t see a video on that then the answer was no.
Thank you for your videos!! I am new to billing and have an opportunity to do billing for compounded medications (which I know nothing about) do you have any videos about how to do this process using cms 1500 form?
Unfortunately I’ve never worked with those forms
Hello I have a question. Is working in a hospital pharmacy better than a retail I currently work in a retail pharmacy and I just wanted to know which one would be better
Hello there. For me I like the hospital setting better because it’s more laid-back. However, starting out as a pharmacy technician the retail really helps me to pass my PTCB exam.
@@PharmacyTechLove Hi Love! I love your content! I am curious to know how did the retail setting helped you pass the PTCB exam? I am becoming a pharm tech trainee soon at a retail setting and I'm planning on getting my license while working there. Thanks !
Hello I am in desperate situate and a little bit behind as far as my knowledge in resolving TPRs need help on data entry parts extensive on fill and refill they have calling patients about the medication last thing I should be doing.
Can you email me, I think I’m confused on what you’re needing help with.
I have a question are billing and insurance for any country used same type?
That I’m not sure of because I’m not sure if other countries have the same insurance programs as American. Example: Medicare, Medicaid, Blue Cross Blue Shield…etc.
I hated working in retail pharmacy mainly because of drop off...lol.
I definitely understand 🤣🤣
I would like to know how to do calculation from beginning to the end, especially pediatric dose
Hi there! I have a lot of those videos on my CZcams channel. Just look and the math section.
Question! I am definitely confused when it comes to insurance. Say a patient has IEHP/Medical. Is IEHP the primary insurance in this case and Medical secondary? Does this just mean Medical has contracted with IEHP as a health insurance provider? Thank you!
Hi there! If you’re discussing pharmacy billing, we don’t bill their medical insurance cards. We only bill their prescription card.
For any medical insurance related questions you may as the HR department where you work.
IEHP is inland empire health plan I’m guessing SoCal
Hi tech love! I'm training at Walgreens and the price of medication goes up at the end of year then come back normal to next year. How can I explain to patients about that? Thank you!
coverage gap
That all depends on the insurance that they have, some people have what is called a donut hole. Make sure you look up that particular word and do your research.
I’ve had my pharmacist tell me that not all dur have to be reviewed by them, I can just take a look and solve the issue, for example patient name mismatch ? Is that something that is permissible? A little confused . Anyone else have this issue?
For me I don’t want the responsibility. I would rather the pharmacist take a look at it since they have went to school for just that.
So say a patient comes in and they don’t have a “prescription card” but they have a.. say a Medicaid card, how do you go about getting meds billed to their insurance?
There’s no other way unless they have their insurance companies phone number. We can then call and retrieve that information.
Pharmacy Tech Love oh okay I see
Can you do Medicaid and Medicare?
I will definitely try my best! I was taking a course over that through Harvard, but it was so boring. But I’ll try to gather some information and make a video over that.
I am a fairly new tech and I am after almost 45 days on the job just started using the computer and it is quite a lot I need help I am doing the counter
Hey there, don’t be intimidated because you’re 45. What if age was never even invented, you would never even think about your age. If you’re fearful that you won’t know or need to update your skills on a computer. Just get on CZcams and watch a couple of videos. There’s always refresher courses on how to learn computer software. You will be great.
I work for Walgreens right now
It’s a good place to work, just steady.
You still hanging in there? Wags is rough
I been there for a week n im struggling so hard 🥺 especially when it comes too typing n I can barely read the handwriting
You may have to ask your coworkers for help with reading the prescriptions.
Inputting it isn't the hard part. Its that resolution problems that come up later
Agree!
