It's ashame nobody remembers this game. Thumb up. P.S. Several dozens of comments and hundreds of likes later, I feel super warm, it seems many of you cherish and remember it.
I just finished this game again after years and years. This game is Conan the Barbarian of video games. Epic in it's simplicity. Storytelling, atmosphere, music, just sublime.
One of the few soundtracks that can rival AoE2 and FF7. Of all the reboots and remakes we live in these days, this is one that desperately needs one. Also: 30:20
I do. Completed it about 3 times and found every secret that lead me to the bonus level "tower of Dalgarok" This was probably the greatest udnerated game ive ever played still to this day. Miss it
***** Exactly! :D I literally grew up playing this game, with bigger hiatus between each gameplay. But with that came great progress, until Dal Gurak. Oh boy... I was so happy when I managed to beat the game. :) Wonder if anyone still plays multiplayer...
I remember yeah But that posh Dal Gurak, smirking while he continued to one shot you with that one magic attack. I was litterly stuck there for days before I finally kicked his ass back to whatever hole he crawled out of. And I remember the vampire being hard the first time you fight him in that tower. Since the souls franchise is done at the moment I really wish they rebooted this franchise, the combat is godlike
***** Not just the combat, but the maps and the music was very atmospheric (or something). The only thing I'm sad about is that, even though it had a lot of music, they are all very short ones. But they were all great. :)
Tamás Csernák The music was amazing yeah, the only a few games have a soundtrack as good as this. I only wish the story was better implemented and the textures where better, this game deserves a remake. The potential is right there.
Never will be bather .Go through all stages 16 times Best is 2 deaths for all the game .Still can’t do it without die.Each2 or three year I installed it and try this year again fall from high in Forge .BEST EVER.
Basil Poledouris himself (composer from Conan the Barbarian, 1982) couldn't have made a better soundtrack. These are the tunes that I remember being the most epic, catchy or atmospheric: 5:50 - Character Selection Screen 6:51 - World Map 28:11 - Tutorial 30:20 - Out of the Mines of Kelbegen 39:14 - Cathedral 51:32 - Beginning I can't remember what was played in the monumental Fortress of Nemrut, the most immersive level I may have experienced in my nearly 30 years of gaming. Guess it's one of the 100 valid reasons to play through this masterpiece again.
Yeah, I remember the moment you enter the cathedral in Nemrut, plays a very heavy version of church choir while you fight a number of knights. (Plays in 39:20.) That always gave me goosebumps.
I remember watching my brother playing this game! It was so fun to watch back in the days! I miss my childhood!!!! The music in this game is masterpiece and unique !
Meanwhile the knight broods over the horizon from the roof while the dwarf sits inside their house drinking all the ale. There's probably an alternate reality where this sitcom exists.
Beating the whole game as the Knight using only the Elf Sword destroying everything with "The Dream" combo. Memories... Such a shame this game went unnoticed... well only noticed by people who know what a good game is.
Scimatar. Picked it up because it looks cool. A few levels later, half way through the icey fortress of Nemrut i discovered its special combo (sadly can't remember the name)... Not even Thanos could defeat Sargon with this beast of a sword.
@@warlockiii1846 I've played it too much... I remember all places and most of hidden objects. Maybe Tai Sword is the only one I never found... Anyway, I used Scimitar, heavy mace, glacial (Maybe, don't know english name, ice sword) and Cavalry Sword... My god, loved that one too much :P
One of the best games ever created. I remember some catacombs you had to go into. I was litting every torch there, no matter how many times I played this game. It always gave me satisfaction.
From time to time, i still play this game. Considering when it was released, it has amazingly well designed combat, levels, difficulties, labyrinths that require logical thinking. only thing this game lacks is game story, or else it'd be remade 1000 times already, loved it !

there is a swedish black metal band named Diabolical Masquerade, which uses some of the combat themes from the game in its album Death's Design, also from 2001 just like Severance ... as far as I know, most of this soundtrack (or all of it) are from a free royalty music bank; I've seen / heard other themes from the game used by other bands, in low budget movies and even in TV ads
I’m trying to get to the bottom of this. I’ve heard them in other things too, including Max Payne etc. But the soundtrack is credited to one man, Oscar Araujo, who along with the other team members who went on to form MercurySteam, did music for the Lords of Shadow games which aren’t that dissimilar to this musically and proved him to be a more than capable, award-winning composer. I’m curious if he did compose these tracks, they licensed them out AFTER and have been used in all the other things. Are there any instances of them popping up in anything PRIOR to this game? Because most people seem to be of the logic that “they’re present as stock music in other things after this so they must have used stock music in this” whereas couldn’t there be a possibility that this is where said stock tracks originated?
