    Great Video Ajay! Here's are a few things I do in my livestream mix from our X32:
    1. Send your Livestream Bus pair to a linked pair of Matrices. Then move your physical outputs in routing from the bus pair to the Matrix pair. What this will do for you, is allow you to use two of the effects rack slots for your livestream output. For me, I put a Strereo Graphic EQ inserted on the Bus Pair and the Precision Limiter inserted on the Matrix pair.
    2. Use the precision limiter to boost your audio send to livestream. My settings in the precision limiter are: Input Gain:16db / Output Gain: -3.5db / Squeeze:60% / Knee:0 / Attack:0.05 / Release:348ms. You don't want it hitting the limiter very hard or very often.. at most 2-3 db of limiting at the very loudest moments, so play with the input depending on your gain staging.
    3. Use the Graphic EQ to shape the overall EQ of the mix to the livestream. It's going to sound different than your room!
    4. Make sure that your Livestream Bus Pair SENDS are set as POST FADER from your channels. That way if you make a change in the house, you also make the same change on the livestream.. as well you're going to be post eq, compression, gating, etc
    5. Don't forget to send your wet effects (reverb, delay, etc) to your livestream busses. Dry mixes sound very strange.. there won't be any natural reverb in the mix as you would get in a room
    6. Use Room/Audience mics
    7. If you're using an ATEM or an encoder where you can monitor the levels coming IN, then it's a good idea to match your audio output levels from the Matrices on the X32 to your audio input levels on the ATEM. What I'll do for this, is grab a 1k sine wav tone from youtube and run it to the livestream mix. Pull up the METERS on the X32 and dive over to the In/Out tab and monitor the output on the physical OUTPUTS you routed your Matrix pair to. I usually try to get an output level at about -10db from my tone channel. Then flip over to the ATEM and set your input level so that your meter is reading the same thing on the input (in the example above -10db). This will help insure you're not clipping... or if you do, you can see it on your x32 meters, as they'll now match your input meters in the ATEM.
    8. Enable the limiter in the ATEM on both the audio input channel and Master channel to -3.3 with the fastest attack it will allow (0.7). Don't worry about going into the red on the ATEM, you want to shoot for a peak level of -3.5 to -3.3 on your loudest moments to get a good full sound on the livestream.

      Hoping to tag in in this. Trying to setup a livestream mix but the problem is the first 14 mix busses on our x32 are tied up with feeding Aviom IEMs leaving me 4 mix busses (EQ busses?)
      Is it possible to use 2 of these mix busses as livestream busses? I’ve been playing around and it does make it to the pc via usb but it also seems to come out the house mix with effects applied.

      With the USB connection, when you install the drivers, you will have 1-2,3-4,5-6,7-8 and 1-8 as output USB options. Route the Main LR to a given output and select that same output or 1-8 to get them all as your USB audio for your livestream

    • @AJaytheCEO
      @AJaytheCEO  Před 2 lety +2

      Either will work and the length restrictions are mainly due to the type of cable used.

      I use another route. I use bus 1/2 for the house, us 3/4 for all broadcast speech and bus 5/6 for al broadcast music. BUs 3/4 and 5/6 have different processing and both are sent to MTX 1/2. MTX 1/2 are leaving via an XLR out.
      That is going balanced to the videobooth. At the video booth they go into a DI-box. With gound lift to prevent possible humm. The output of the DI goed into the mic-in of our ATEM (extreme).
      In this way length is no issue.
      I receive a copy of the ATEM screen so I always have a good view on the stage and I can see the audio level going out.
      Aside this, I also mix 2 monitors and a line fo the hearing impaired.
      I only use busses, no main-out.
      With the fader and pre/post/sub programming I decide what goes where at what level.
      This makes training new engineers easier to do.
      God bless!

    Your presentation is awesome…I’m just wondering why some of the best minds have such an incredible difference in the volume levels for the intro vs. the presentation levels. I’m guessing 5- 10 db difference, mind you that it happens in most videos, in fact in order to hear you speak clearly I have to max out my volume on my ear buds and turn it down for the intro blast. Thanks for the awesome level of knowledge regardless of the db issue.

      My intro and outro are made and I just add them to my videos during editing. When I record, I have my volume set on my speakers and into at 50% and I typically drop the intro/outro volume to match as best as possible but I don't always get it right

      Just get a daw to drop your video in after you edit it and do some "clip gaining" and metering

  • @DrPhillEntertainmentja

    correct me if i am wrong, but when we say "A Mix" does this not include EQ, Compression, gate etc for each channel? the reality is this method only gives you a separate balance, but in terms of the mix for each channel, everything else is affected. EX: if you had to boost the low end of you bass guitar because a speaker limitations in the room, whilst this EQ boost works for the room it won't always work for the Live stream tones. So really you get a separate balance but ultimately the same mix.

    • @ChrisTaylor-qe8kd
      @ChrisTaylor-qe8kd Před 8 měsíci

      No, those are dynamics processing. They effect the sound but not the mix. Mixing is mixing and I mean mixing is about blending regardless of the processors. FOH vs STREAM MIX you have to EQ the house speakers instead of the channel, and EQ the stream mix instead of the channel. EX: You wouldn't turn up the house or stream mix to hear the bass more because it effects everything else it's the same when it comes to anu other dynamics processing where you wouldn't do that to any main out because of a channel. That's why dynamics processing is different than mixing. Dynamics processing can be done at both levels. I've been celebrating so excuse any typos
