      iamintheburg -- A lot of celebrity mystery guests will kiss or be kissed by a panelist (or both), typically when it's a panel member they know well or feel close to. June Allyson and her husband Dick Powell were good friends with Bennett and Phyllis Cerf, hence the affectionate kiss Bennett gave June.

    • @philippapay4352
      @philippapay4352 Před 5 lety +3

      iamintheburg - I have never liked endearments much, as I have found most to be either insincere or lazy or an attempt at unearned familiarity. I think Daly is a good moderator during the game, but outside of the actual game playing, I find him repulsive. One of the things about him that is most irritating to me is that I was taught quite strictly that one addresses or calls a person as they are introduced to them. If you are not comfortable with the title or name in the introduction, it is always acceptable to ask how they prefer to be addressed or do they use thus and so as an alias for perhaps a more formal name. Daly consistently calls people by names other than how they have presented themselves. If it is a James, he will call him Jim. It is so obsessive that he will call a Tommy, Tom. He changes the names compulsively. So the honey, not being something that is appropriate in a formal situation and was probably not her nickname, was galling here. It was even worse that he could not let it be that the military contestant was properly addressed as Private. He had to ask if she was married, which is utterly impertinent. But, he then said well let's call you Private Miss before acceding to just using Private as her title. And you certainly never ask someone in a formal or public situation if you can use some cutesy moniker or title for them around folks who may take it up and begin using it quite to the dismay of the individual who has already presented themselves the way they prefer.

    In 1948, no one could have anticipated that 6 actors working on the same film, MGM's "The Three Musketeers," would be future WML MGs and that 2 others would be future WML guest panelists (a few were both). Besides June Allyson, the other future MGs were Van Heflin, Vincent Price, Gene Kelly, Lana Turner, and Angela Lansbury. The future guest panelists were Gig Young and Keenan Wynn.
