    Had 7950x for two years, Curve optimizer negative offset -25 and turning off HT gives quite nice boost for core frequency stability and higher FPS.

    if you have a camera that uses 10-bit 4:2:2, and you choose to use it as such (i.e. you don't go into the camera's settings and change it to 10-bit 4:2:0 (which almost all camera support natively), you can STILL, with SOFTWARE decode 4k h.265, even at 60 or 120fps. the rough part about h.265 (or h.264, or more preferably av1) is the ENCODING of these formats. in particular, I would LOVE to see encoding support for full 8 or 10 bit 4:4:4 for doing screen captures without degradation (at least for the master). tl;dr: the bottleneck in AV workloads is NOT acceleration in av codec PLAYBACK, the reason we need all this acceleration is for the ENCODING process, and it's REALLY unlikely that you're ENCODING 10-bit 4:2:2 as most final productions are released (on the web, on youtube, on dvd, etc. in 4:2:0.

    I'm a rare case of Emulation lover, been a lot focused on RPCS3 due to being super hard to run properly without a good CPU. So I'd only be really interested if the CPU benefits a lot for console emulation.

    Thanks for addressing this subject. I had been wondering the exact same thing. BUT NOW, there is a huge question.
    ==> What should a content creator buy if building a new computer system???
    The 14th gen Intel option seems horrible, since the LGA1700 is end of life, plus the higher end Intel processors are fraught with mystery malfunctions and self-destructions (including the i7 - 14700k, maybe to a lesser extent, but who wants their CPU to die right before a deadline?). The 1700 motherboards are still not discounted much at all. I understand that Ryzen 9000 is disappointing due to lack of QuickSync, video encoding, and other program integration (except for Blender, it appears).
    ==> If I can't wait until November/December for Arrow Lake, what should I choose for a new content creation (w/ some gaming) computer build???
    Maybe buy a 14600k and cheap 1700 motherboard and expect to swap them out?? Swapping motherboards/processors also seems unpleasant.
    Thank you!!!!!!

    🤣🤣 Let them cry!!! Though I've been Team Red on CPU's for a long time I cant see me burning the money for this. I'll wait out and get a mid tier Intel that's not going to require liquid cooling and get the right motherboard so it isn't running Max Level out the box. I haven't ran Team Blue in almost 20 years so this is going to feel weird.

    not only that, the gpus of AMD aren't as good as the Arc series in 3D applications like for blender or UE5.
    Edit: what AMD doesn't have is the DeepLink Feature from Intel

    To be honest, there isn't any point caring about the iGPU if you never even use it to begin with. As you don't even benefit from the onboard graphics features such as it's codecs if you're using a dedicated GPU such as an RTX 40 series card or any other card/brand for that matter. So in that sense...There isn't anything that Intel provides other than that, since 9950x will no doubt beat it too, in performance, or be neck and neck. Also, the 9950x will be better than the 14900K for media/content creation, so why stay away from it?

    • @RealTechnoPanda
      @RealTechnoPanda  Před měsícem

      The problem is that 10-bit 422 h265 codec is not supported by RTX 40 series GPUs. So if you own something like Canon R5, you will need to generate proxies if you are not using Intel CPUs

      AMD fooled people to think Zen 4 was a Raptor Lake competitor so Zen 5 must be better, right? In fact Zen 5 is just on par with Raptor Lake from a lot of materials I've seen. The power consumption is from the unlimited PPT leak. Package power 320W is 20W per core amortized.

    why would AMD release this new cpu's with very little change. AM5 is expensive and AMD should have made better chips for this round. Disapointing.
