I am a professional musician, but if I were a dancer, and Spartacus would be the only ballet I could dance, for me would be enough. Nothing beats Khachaturian, Spartacus, and the Russian Ballet School. Sitting here watching, and crying like an idiot….😢

When I was a child, my father and I had the same dream: one day I would dance in the Bolshoi Ballet. We used to watch repertoire ballet together. After a few years he had mouth and lung cancer. He enjoyed watching the last part, where Spartacus was veiled. When I miss my father I watch Spartacus and I know that he watched this last part over and over again just to have a "real" reason to cry, because he was a tough guy. I miss you, JVS ♥
I lost my mother to lung cancer two years ago. We loved ballet too. By still watching what we enjoyed with our loved ones we keep them close to us. Your father is still with you, sending love to you
THE BOLSHOI BALLET IS WITHOUT A DOUBT THE BEST BALLET COMPANY IN THE WORLD! THEY HAVE THE MOST AMAZING DANCERS, THE BEST SETS, THE BEST COSTUMES, AND THE BEST CHOREOGRAPHY. I WAS VERY FORTUNATE TO SEE A LIVE PERFORMANCE OF THE SWAN LAKE IN LONDON AND MOSCOW. BOTH PERFORMANCES WERE PHENOMENAL!
What a beauty on screen in Pathe. Igor tsvirko the best I have ever seen!!!! Also Belyakov, Nikulina was wonderful in her emotions, and Zakharova strong as ever!! Best wishes from Holland!!!!Good luck to you all
@@susannevollmer2347 Vetrov is fantastic. The whole cast is wonderful, I adore this performance. There is an earlier Bolshoi performance with Irek Mukhamedov as Spartacus with a different cast but here Vetrov and Bilova and Semenyaka are all so excellent too that I love this one better

Personally the best Spartacus I have ever seen. Mukhamedov was in the prime of him. Maria Bilova in this fantastic role. Thanks Toscanina.

I was lucky. i saw this back in mid 80s with Mukhamedov. wonderful.
The film of Mukhamedov with Bessmertnova as Phrygia (1984?) is far superior to this one.
