This is arguably the most important off season in Sens history. I believe in our ownership and management. I haven’t been able to say that in years. That alone is refreshing and exciting! Can’t wait to see what Staios does! GSG!!

@@zachfarrell234 They’ve already spent $76M for next year without paying Pinto which is gonna cost at least $5M so that leaves about $6-$7M to fill 1F for your top 2 lines, 2D (assuming you keep Chrychrun), and 3-4Fs in your bottom 6Fs.
Even if you trade Chychrun, you’re saving $4.6M; he has a friendly contract. You will NOT be able to get a player that plays a bigger role on this team for $4.6M.

When it comes to the work that Steve Staios has to go, theres so much work that needs to be done. While it's true the goaltending was terrible, I think the #1 issue that needs to be addressed is organizing this offense. This offensive lines who knows what their roles are. Its all over the place thanks to Dorion. When I talk structure, this is what I would want as roles per line:
1st line = Pure offensive pressure, not as good defensive.
2nd line = Good offensive, and ok to decent defensive
3rd line = Better defensive than offensive, but get a faceoff more often than not in the O-zone so the top line can work where they are strongest.
4th line = Physical momentum breakers that can make an impact and hurt people.
Defense follows the same formula:
1st pairing= More offensive than Defensive
2nd pairing = More defensive than Offensive
3rd pairing = A Brick Wall
As much as the goaltending needs to be addressed, Korpi has never been a true starter in his career. Now he's got a taste for it, now we need to see if he can improve in the off-season and see if he can take that next step next season with a far more structured team in front of him, or risk going to waivers on the condition of a buyout. As good as a job Jacques did with the schedule he had when he stepped in, and a roster that is all over the place, he did the best job he could with what he had, and Im glad to see his final game as a coach going full-circle back to Ottawa. You couldnt script it any better.
This team also badly needs to replenish their prospect pool with a variety of different role players who can step in should an injury occur and play to their strength to help the development instead of putting them in a role they should not be, and that also includes this roster. This is where I believe Staios has the most work to do, aside from getting a permanent head coach, hopefully before the draft.
I agree with Wally, Forsbergs effort means really nothing.

Boys let’s talk about how good the future is. Our rookies scoring this year was absolutely embarrassing. For a team that has not made the playoffs in a decade. We had Ridly Greig and the next rookie.. 3 Pts. Yeah.. gonna be a long rebuild.
