My thoughts on the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 after one year of use. And while it's not the most exciting in any one category, I think it wins overall by being boring and reliable. There is something to be said about boring and consistent when you are spending over $1,700.

I hate to say it, but sometimes we need/like boring. I'm looking forward to the Fold 6.
The more I read about the Fold6, the more I think I'm good with my Fold5 (barring any unleaked surprise). If I still had the 4, the 6 would be a no-brainer, but the 5 is just so nice.
The Fold series is the best all-around foldable.
@@myfakeguuglaccount8307 rumors are rumors. wait until the event happens to make your decision.
Ive never had the newest flagship phone in my life, I will be going from the s10 to the fold 6 this year at release -- I think you are 100% correct about samsung. They are the pioneers of this tech at the end of the day and from my research they ARE improving the durability with each version (look at polls for broken Z folds 1, 2, 3, 4, 5), they just don't advertise their incremental hinge/screen improvements as much as the other features. I would only trust them with this specific technology at this time. For example, It seems the pixel fold is having some of the screen issues samsung has already solved/mitigated.
@theycallme_nightmaster I've been on the fold scene since z fold 2. It's one of the reason I left apple. Once you get one, it's going to be hard to go back to the candy bar style. If you do, it's because the cover screen really bothers you and that's okay. I've switched to the galaxy ultra a couple of times due to the small screen, but I somehow can't seem to get away from the foldables for good.
@@dreco2x199 yeah it's the only device that I want because the hardware is simply cool and unique, it reminds me of the phone scene from early Android days when OEMs were actually trying cool hardware ideas. The narrow outside screen is actually a huge benefit for me and one of the reasons I'm going with the zfold over the others, the narrow outside screen makes it smaller than a normal phone when closed but bigger than a normal phone when open, I think Samsung nailed the form factor.
For Samsung especially with their Foldables, reliability is king and i can respect that.
Definitely!
I have the Fold 4, im good with this im just paranoid to use this as a daily driver im a delivery driver im in and out of my vehicle, i do have a case on it but its not like a UAG Tony Starks Armor fully protecting the Phone, i dont know have no insurance so if i drop it its Ball game. So i typically use it as a tablet at home in my volunteer ministry work it does what i need it to do.
oooh, two s24ultras glued together. I know what I will be dreaming of tonight when I go to bed.
Lol, good dreams then!
From my understanding the front display is only .1 wider then fold 5 if true its pointless they should do .5 wider atleast
Im still rocking the Fold 3. Im debating on what i should do. If money wasn't an issue id buy the Vivo X Fold 3 Pro Global but i know if i break a screen it will be difficult to get fixed. I like my Fold 3 but really dislike the outer display size. I ask myself if i go for the Fold 6 will i be happier with the outer display or will i wish i just went for a different foldable.
Hopefully fold 7 has ultra camera and larger battery
It was tempting to Grab this but I think I’d be more of a flip fan still a bad ass foldable tho
I have it and love it
Stevielicious......are you going to get the Fold 6? I have the OnePlus open... how does the Fold 6 compare in your humble opinion?
I'm still on the Fold 2, really love the multitasking possiblities. Even one year after I got it I discover new things, like putting apps to the edge of the screen.
I think what Vivo fold 3 pro , Huawei mate x5 , and Honor Magic v2 porsche edition rsr did with hardware was amazing but what makes me excited is the fold 6 slim and fold 7 because one ui 7.0 will be revolutionary mark my words
Have you tried the Vivo X Fold 3 Pro?
Played with it but I don't own one. I like it a lot. But not ideal for most in the US.
Fold 6 is sleeper. Samsung is just not doing anything with it. Same old same old since original fold. The flips are better value and actually receive updates (4000mAh, more RAM)

Beautiful Tortie! What's her name?
Thank you! She was our little angel Jean.
@@StevealiciousTech ahh man I'm sorry Steve. Bellatrix is our little Tortie angel.
I like boring phones i guess... but i don't like iPhones or Pixels for the same reason 🤔
Try harder to convince us..
No one's convincing anyone of anything. Stating how it is. We can live with it or not.
8:30 minutes to convince someone that samsung needs to be boring because they don't have for almost 4 generations to improve a divice (check what Chinese model they achieve and I'm not talking about the software) so we need to justify that samsung is not enovating anymore...ok
Explaining why they would do so as a business. Not saying it's right or wrong, but saying why a lot of people like the design as is, and why the company wouldn't exactly stick its neck out. It's a discussion. Don't take it literally.
If Samsung is gonna stay with the narrow display, they have to improve the speech-to-text function at least.
Why don’t you use an S-Pen? After the Blackberry, the Fold series did quite well for me.
I use the S-pen on my S24 Ultra, but I don't like the case for the Fold, and I really don't consider it a part of the phone unless there is a silo in the device. When the pen is included, I'll get excited about it.
@@StevealiciousTech I had the first Z Fold and own the Fold 3 with a Spigen case. But I wish it had a slot like the S23 Ultra! It would make sense. Also naked a Fold looks supreme. But I need the S Pen to make notes. Thanks Sir.
It makes sense there is no slot in the folds. I don't imagine there would be much space with those movable components and the form factor.
@@AzureRT456There would be enough space if they made it larger, but like Steve said there are probably more Samsung customers who want the relatively small candy bar foldable vs. essentially a folded iPad.
@@handyhistorian They may as well add two s pen slots into the upcoming tab s10. Having the s pen be on the back just works and you can get a case that holds the pen.
Hopefully the trade in value for the folds will be good this year...I have a still mint condition z fold 3 (silver) I might trade in.
You and me both, that's something that at least they usually come up big for older Fold owners.
thanks for the video. as much as a lot of things are correct in this video... however no increase in battery capacity, not allowing the cover screen to work with the S Pen and no camera upgrades... it can't be forgiven. I understand why Samsung is doing this, but... its not good
