As bad as this might seem, I also don't want to scare Mojang away from trying cool stuff like this. We saw how creative they can be with this past April Fools' update. If there is too much complaining they'll just go back into hibernation.
I would suggest that they make a server config to allow server owners to control it i.e. oozing won't spawn a slime if there are more than 100 slimes alive. But any suggestion would be good. Don't scare Mojang away from trying cool stuff by calling it stupid or not thought out. Experiments will have mistakes, and they won't experiment if we burn them alive every time something doesn't pan out on the first try.
Edit: I wanted to add that this has already happened. Mojang tried increasing the minecart speed a long time ago. They even added interesting mechanics, like getting derailed if it goes around a corner too fast. But people complained that it broke old minecraft maps, so they undid it.

This oozing is still better than the phantom, like that flying thing has no purpose except for punishing players that work on stuff all around the in game clock, which, is very common with modded minecraft, and especially worse on survival servers which sleeping does not work properly most of the time at all. I imagine that this wouldn't be that hard to balance if Mojang wanted to nerf it. They could:
      - change the amount of slimes that spawn (maybe even make it random, so it could spawn 1 tiny slime up to a big one)
      - make slimes spawned by oozing have oozing, make oozing do the opposite when applied to slimes (no children), and maybe increase the slimeball drop rates of oozing slimes to compensate
      - add a gamerule to disable oozing spawns so that server owners can choose if they want to deal with it or not
Again though, that's assuming they even want to. They're fine with the Mace after all.

  • @DesyncX
    @DesyncX Před měsícem +82

I think slimes should also be affected by oozing. But instead of the usual effect, slimes affected by oozing should combine into bigger slimes (4 slimes should combine into 1 slime one size bigger). Slimes should also retain the oozing effect and duration after they combine so they continue combining if there are a lot of other oozing slimes around.
And for the cherry on the cake, slimes spawned from the death of oozing non-slime mobs should start with oozing too. Do you see where I'm going with this?
Basically, when killing a lot of oozing mobs at the same time, the new spawned oozing slimes will attempt to combine right away into one huge slime!
And, what if this would allow oozing slimes to get to combine to even bigger slime sizes than vanilla? >:)

This reminds me of that story of an ultima online player who crashed the game servers two times doing something similar.
You see, when the slimes were first introduced on the game, they would split if they *took damage* instead of dying unlike minecraft. The game also allowed you to store monsters on your inventory like an item (do not ask me why).
This guy knew all of this, and gathered some slimes in his house, but instead of damaging them to death he used some grenades that caused little damage and weren't enough to kill the slimes. After throwing some, the slimes multiplied at very high numbers, then he just opened the door to achieve a server crash.
I find surprising how Minecraft is doing something similar, ofc it can't crash entire servers with just 2 slimes and infinite growth, yet you can pretty much abuse it in so many ways. I play on mcpe and the game always goes laggy even on overworld, now with that little trick im gonna crash my game for sure.

I mean, a simple code fix is to take into account the nearby quantity of slimes upon death / oozing, so when the entity dies it checks how many slimes are nearby (or spawned from oozing potions) and, if there is more than a certain amount, it doesn't spawn any. Similar to how the trial spawners themselves don't spawn more mobs until all of them have been defeated (this time, just till it's below a threshold).
I really like these effects and honestly I'd love to see more of them in the game. A couple more for example:
    • Potion of Warping - has a chance to, upon taking damage, warp an entity anywhere in a small radius around themselves (similar to chorus fruit but smaller) - **brewed with Chorus Fruit**
-Potion of Freezing - causes all enemies splashed to suffer the max freezing status effect for an incredibly short time, also turns nearby water source blocks into ice - **brewed with an Ice Block**

Step 3: make an autosmelter and plug it into crafters that will craft empty bottles
Step 4: put an autobrewer on it with the ooze potion recipe
Step 5: put dispenser in front of the hole where the mobs stay at and make it throw the oozing potion at them.

In terms of this being an overpowered way to get slime, I would like to point out a few things:
-you would have to wait quite a while to get all those mobs to spawn
-you need 9 slime upfront for the block (who needs more than 9 slime in general apart from people making slime heavy redstone contraptions)
-blaze powder and gunpowder combined are more difficult to obtain than slime
-if you make lingering potions, that's a whole new can of worms
-all the slimes would require a few more harming potions than normal to kill
-they WILL break out of containment

Blaze powder and gun powder are both EASIER to obtain, than slime.
As soon as you find a nether fortress, you have unlimited access to blazes and can grind powder easily.
Gun powder, while a bit annoying to collect in large quantities, can be found literally anywhere in the overworld... (and you only need one for three potions, so...)
Your other points seem more like arguments against yourself, if anything.

i feel like oozing should be a scaling potion effect
for example simly brewing it, oozing 1 - 50% to have a slime spawn
    oozing 2 - 100% to have a slime spawn
and the trial chambers would have to use a higher version of the effect - oozing 4 in order to get the effect that is shown with 2 slimes spawning per killed mob
this way for servers it would be harder to make something that laggy that easily, and for trial chambers you can still have a really dangerous effect
