Oooh this is SUCH a good haul! A Memory Called Empire is fantastic! It is indeed the first in a duology, and both books won the Hugo for best novel. I liked The Conductors a lot as well; there is a sequel I plan to read. The Vanished Birds is just gorgeous, and The Deep is excellent too. You have a great pile here.

this is a year of focusing on my physical TBR as much as possible. I can go into a bookstore and not buy anything. I am staying out of the libraries. the thrift store I've been once this year and bought one book. my downfall is there are at least 20 little free libraries in walking distance from me and I keep finding things in them! it's pretty hard to resist when you're just walking by and it's free! there's a lot of temptation out there!
love a memory called empire, and a desolation called peace was even cooler. a lot of action, and a lot of politics, but also great characters. bunny is wild. my daughter and her girlfriend really love it.

I went through a period where I read a lot of Guy Gabriel Kay, and this made me want to pick up his newer work. My favorite, from what I recall, was Tigana. I also enjoyed the Kushiel series, but my memory is that some of the spicy moments are SA, as differentiated from the BDSM scenes.
I’m looking forward to your thoughts about a lot of these!
