Hanekom need a chance!!!! Sooner rather than later. We currently need to be honest, we need to clean up, captain needs to go, locks needs to be revisited. Jason Jenkins needs a chance. No 9, Faf is a huge concern. Fullback, give Quan Horn a chance. Just my 2 cents....

I can not agree more. 100 % ❤. Spot on... Williams is good to start and very fast . Locks I agree we need more grunt ...and specialist 8 . Not kwagga. Not natural 8 . Off the bench fantastic impact player. Lost 2 line outs with R.G ? I'm not sure why, but I'm concerned.

What we have learnt from these two tests is that Kwagga is great at jackling, ripping and getting to the break down but as Brenden points out he does not have that go forward capability of Duane or Jasper. So for me he remains as an impact player off the bench. If fit Hannekom appears to be the logical successor to no. 8.
Another obvious successor to the 10 is Mngomezulu but the powers that see him elsewhere.

Frontrow: Steenekamp, Grobbelaar, Du Toit (replacements Mchunu, Venter, Trevor).
Locks: Moerat (captain, groomed as the longer term captain) and RG (Dixon as cover on the bench).
Flankers: Phepsi and Van Staden (Ruan Venter on the bench).
No 8: Evan Roos (Elrich on the bench).
No 9: Reinach (Williams on the bench, to also cover wing).
No 10: Libbok (Sacha on the bench, covering 10, 12 and 15)
    No 12: Esterhuizen
    No 13: Am
    Wingers: Mapimpi and Fassi
    15: Horn
More than enough "old heads" there for Portugal with plenty of "second stringers" getting a go. 😉

I made this point the other day, but I want to drive it home. Rassie loves stats.
Our team is too old. Being 35+ at a world cup use to be seen as a miraculous achievement, an outlier. Why do we have 1000s of youth playing craven week every year when Jesse wants to go to 2 more world cups. They'll never get a shot.

Agreed. I believe we'll see the "youngsters" mostly still just getting random (learning) opportunities during the Rugby Championship and the Autumn Internationals, but as from next year we'll see many of them playing more often. The old guard (those above 34 come 2027) will slowly be replaced in the starting line-ups and will agree to become mostly just mentors to the next crop. Of the older crop I think only Mostert and Pieter-Stef (because of their engines) have a chance of making it to the next RWC, and I expect Salmaan Moerat to be the settled Bok captain by 2027.

Brenden Nel. I totally at with you. I feel the way forward is that Spring boks have a lot of talent but the combination link is a bit of a challenge. And I feel it's time to push a New Squad. Get rid of the old guys. The rugby now is more faster and new rules. I learnt that in Australia and New Zealand . The older players need out. This how Australia rugby went down.

Rather get the younger guys in . As I mentioned Australian rugby went down due to that. In New Zealand they are a Small population. But strong in grassroots Rugby. Boks can learn from a bigger pool. Missing link is combination of right players. Together. As last game seemed too individualism to get recognized for the Jersey.

Tbh I think we'll see Manie and either Siya, Sacha, Hendrikse at 10 coming off the bench. That way at the end of year tour we can give any of those 3 some more game time. Aus is young team thats when we'll see Pollard again warming up for Nz. This is my prediction, so probably Hendrikse or Siya seeing as they are out and out 10s and Hendrikse looking like the likely candidate as he is younger than Siya and had more seasons in urc to prove himself.
