    I'm curious as to the language used to describe the tools for glass blowing and lamp working. I could use a checklist with a definition of the tool, lol. No but seriously, people call things multiple names. I'm really invested in learning this skill and you by far have been my favorite instructor. YOU are seriously talented and doing your thing. Thank you for taking the time to help us out brother.

    Hey Matt! Just wanted to say hi and introduce myself. First off, I love this video! Really great information here. I like how you covered so much material. I also have a CZcams glass blowing channel. I mostly make glass pipes but I love seeing what other people are showing on CZcams. I just subscribed and I can't wait to check out more of your work! Very nice! Looking forward to your dot stack. I did the Heather Trimlet 40 bead challenge a while back , in soda lime glass, and really got into the different ways you can lay down dots. So simple and yet so versatile.

      @@MattJasa if I may ask one question, do you know where I can get one of those blow torch things like you have? I've been looking and can't seem to find a good one.

    I haven’t done any lampwork for almost 2 years. I did loads at the start of the covid lockdown in 2020 but then I got too ambitious too quickly and lost confidence. Seeing your marbles is inspiring me to give it another go. Although I think I’ll need to start with small beads and rebuild my confidence before I tackle marbles again. (Mine is all soft glass)

    • @MattJasa
      @MattJasa  Před 2 lety +1

      Hey Lora, there's no shame in taking a break from the torch. A lot of artists do at some point. I'm not sure if its the nature of the craft, just being an unusual activity that takes time getting used-to or something else. But beads sounds like fun. I made a handful of beads using a clear tube, but I've always wanted to practice with the mandrel.

      @@MattJasa I do so many different crafts, when I get a bit discouraged with one it’s too easy to switch to another hobby! Recently I’ve been doing book binding! But I feel the fire and molten glass calling me back again haha

      Hello, I'm happy to hear I was able to help! Unfortunately because of my family friendly setting I don't plan on doing any pipe work, however there are a lot of other great artists who cover pipes exclusively. I do recommend to all my students to learn from more than one teacher to broaden your knowledge. Best of luck on your new glass journey Camilo!

    Can a torch like this melt glass from bottles to make glass rods to use?

    • @MattJasa
      @MattJasa  Před 2 měsíci

      I have video of melting down an old ash tray into rods. czcams.com/video/iLKPfHbvfMU/video.html
      Although it may be possible, I'm not sure how cost effective it would be once you consider the time it takes.

    Hi Matt thanks for the videos very helpful. For someone interested in starting lampwork would you recommend the light purple didydium or next shade up safety glasses. I,m a little confused that some use either or even both ? Thanks Mike
