Warning #2: I use small fireworks & combustible materials from time to time for scientific tests. These more dangerous tests are not to be recreated at home for your own safety. I'll do my best to mention when NOT to repeat an experiment (storm glass, glass canon, glass blow darts, just to name a few).

Making Sugar & Glass Candy Canes
zhlédnutí 428Před 7 měsíci
Special Holiday Episode! Hand-made candy canes from sugar and glass! This is my first-time making candy canes. I haven't practiced or prepared for this episode ahead of time, it was a last-minute idea I wanted to share with you. If you try making candy yourself, be extra cautious of the molten sugar as it could stick to your skin and burn! Happy Holidays!

Prince Rupert's Droplet with Color & Boro
zhlédnutí 1,3KPřed 11 měsíci
What happens when molten glass meets cold water? Explosive stress! In this video I create Prince Rupert's droplets from soda lime, colored soda lime, and borosilicate (lab glass). I subject them to a drop test of 50lb's to test their durability and snap them with my fingers to feel a shower of silica debris.

Are you using a Jen Ken Cube? I've been thinking about getting one myself but not sure whether I should get the Cube or the AF3 11x4.5
Beautiful! I love marbles! Instantly subbed! Keep up the great work!
Very cool! I like the philosophy behind this and the way copper is showing is reminding me a la prima paintings where some artists leave an unpainted canvas (i.e. one of my favorite artists there would be Richard Schmid). You think and approach your work like an artist. Great job! :)
Cool video !!! Try explore it with smaller chunks of scrap glass from the bottle, it will be more easy to handle. 🙏🏽
You sir are as close to be a wizard as possibly one can be.
as usual awsome vid mate. its intresting seeing you develop as a artist. thanks for showing us this.
The idea behind the imperfect path is to reject perfection in favor of progression. Keeping focused on growth rather than comparing results. I still recommend seeking teachers and guidance to limit the resistance on your path. But don't let your own missteps or another's greatest feats stop you from your journey!
beautiful glass work!
wonderful, watching with purpose
I always love how much you explore, this was a fun experiment!! I started glass with stained glass, and work around a lot of fusers, so I tend to play with fusible sheet glass scraps on the torch sometimes, it's really fun! Though sometimes they really do not like the flame chemistry. If you need a little more stability, a boro punty will go a long way. You just have to make sure to keep heating it, it works but it will want to pop off your project! :) Thanks again for sharing!!
Where do u get the metal that ur making the tool out of?
Thank you for the ride. 😊
awsome work as allwase mate. f find your exploration of glass and your demonstraioni of skills amazing allwase mate. your humbleness with your gratatude allso is inspiring mate
Thanks Zac! I'm working hard right now but try to keep checking comments. Stay melty my friend!
Great Idea🤟
Thank you I also do stained glass. I would love to see your ideas on incorporating the two. I’m afraid that trying to put stained glass to heat with a rod like to draw. I would break the stain glass. I’m dying to see what you do to figure that out.
Hello Patty! I would most likely do the hot working first, unless I use borosilicate instead of soft glass for the stained sections. Thanks for watching!
How does the dots and lines stay intact when you heat the marble back up to remove it from the punty or add more to it???
I'm curious as to the language used to describe the tools for glass blowing and lamp working. I could use a checklist with a definition of the tool, lol. No but seriously, people call things multiple names. I'm really invested in learning this skill and you by far have been my favorite instructor. YOU are seriously talented and doing your thing. Thank you for taking the time to help us out brother.
Where did you get the blade and the stone ?
What's the point of s8 hour glass
Bro please let me know if its possible to have a live class once i get my setup Fyi i got absolutely 0 Experience so will have very small starter kit
Is it possible to purchase this?
Thanks for explaining..i need all information i can get Got 0 experience but will be buying small kit
🔥🔥🔥
Great video! Question thoough, what type of glass did you use for this? Also is there a way to anneal glass like this properly without purchasing an expensive kiln?
RAHHH HELL YEAH I LOVE OF THESE VIDS, I love the new changes too you're only getting better and better mat <33333
Hate to tell you this but you should have invested the 8k equipment money in a director of photography that makes your lighting look more professional and a colorist to make some LUTs with better color treatment for this setup. Almost no one has an 8K screen, and when you downscale it to 4k o 1080 the difference is not noticeable lol
You can still work this out for your next upgrades, or even learn yourself how to light and color. Also the 8k does not make it worse so, it's okay! Just remember that a better-looking video has more to do with the art of creating beautiful images, its about colours, shapes, light, etc. A better camera its just a tool.
Hello Mauroangst, I appreciate the advice. My recourses are quite limited, so I can't afford to bring anyone in right now. I'll have to practice in those areas to make them better. The 8k jump over 4k is to "future proof" the content and provide the highest quality possible. I'll do my best to better utilize lighting, colours and even sound to bring you the best overall experience. Thanks for watching!
Can a torch like this melt glass from bottles to make glass rods to use?
I have video of melting down an old ash tray into rods. czcams.com/video/iLKPfHbvfMU/video.html Although it may be possible, I'm not sure how cost effective it would be once you consider the time it takes.
Hey Matt, I have a prop project that need some glass work, but with neon. Can you do that?
Sorry Zap, I don't have the equipment to inject the neon. If you have the project finished, you might be able to take it to a local sign shop and have them fill it and seal it.
@@MattJasa Thanks anyways, I will check with local shops.
Did you heat treat that?
Look into didyclips It’ll take it to the next level
Nice video Matt 👍🏻
Nice to see you back! And yes, there's a world of difference with the 4K rig - love the really focussed depth of field you get. All the torch all the time, and almost nothing in the background. Looking forward to seeing what you do in the future 😁
Thank you. Yeah the depth of field is awesome, but a bit hard to work with. Any small movement can knock things out of focus, but it's worth the effort.
matt welcome to 8k good work mate . proud of you dude it has been a plesure to see you develop and a artist and youtuber . as as per usual your creative lamp i absolutly loved. knowing you u will make a glass raido :)
Hey Zac! Thank you. I'm happy the video actually worked. It took 12 hours to export, and another 12 hours to upload. It's crunching so much data it makes me nervous. I know sometimes I have big ideas, but that's the only way to find big answers, is to ask large questions. Stay well, stay melty Zac!
Wow! The video quality is outstanding. Thanks for upgrading.
I'll be shifting my work to this higher quality with exception of one more video which was all done on older equipment. I'll try to finish that one soon.
Heck yeah! I've been waiting around for a new video
love your work as allwase mate
ok please punch a prince ruperts drop thk u god bless
Cool video my friend. I also have a glass blowing channel. You should come by and have a look =). I mostly make glass pipes and some other random stuff. All the best! Sim
Red elvis is my favorite ruby. The guy who makes it sent me a bunch of his shorts and expirimentals one time, it was some awesome colors like that dbl mai tai and some super sparkly striking moss color
I love making small reamers from brass and polishing them up shiny. I'm going to start casting brass so I can make bigger brass reamers and other tools
So sick
Dope video, looking forward to exploring your vids
Do you sell the marbles? Or other stuff you make?
Could you calibrate that and somehow use it to measure tempuratures?
I can't read 👍
Adventurine is a rock, not a mineral.
Love the videos man!!! Just got my colours in yesterday going to to to the studio and try making some marbles. Thanks for the awesome videos
Hey Matt! Just wanted to say hi and introduce myself. First off, I love this video! Really great information here. I like how you covered so much material. I also have a CZcams glass blowing channel. I mostly make glass pipes but I love seeing what other people are showing on CZcams. I just subscribed and I can't wait to check out more of your work! Sim
