Nice to know it helped. No, I don't have a link, I think I bought it ages ago on Gearbest... but it's not even that great a cable. Any decent USB-OTG cable will do.
I'm not sure where that one is sold as of now, but Nooelec (a well known reseller in the RTL-SDR scene) sells an improvement of this called the Nano 2 www.nooelec.com/store/sdr/nesdr-nano2.html and one called Nano 2+ www.nooelec.com/store/sdr/nesdr-nano2-plus.html - good if you are in the US (but some Nooelec-branded products are also on European Amazon sites), but look at the other products offered as some are bundles containing antennas and some aren't, so it depends on what you want. www.rtl-sdr.com/buy-rtl-sdr-dvb-t-dongles/ also sells good SDR-specific products, although their main product is much larger than the one in my video, so if you want a small one specifically, I see they do have a "Stratux RTL-SDR (Low Power RTL-SDR) - Limited Stock Only", which would be good if it's actually lower-power than average, since this thing does drain the phone's battery fast, as another commenter noted. This one doesn't seem to have an enclosure though, so up to you. You will find many other things if you search for RTL-SDR on Amazon or eBay or even for generic TV sticks... there used to be generic TV sticks that looked identical to the one I have in the video, except they don't have the Nooelec brand, and presumably they weren't tested for SDR use to the extent that Nooelec does, but, ultimately, it's the same hardware. It may certainly take some time looking at images until you spot one, though. They could be much cheaper than Nooelec or RTL-SDR.com products, but it's harder to be 100% sure they contain the right chipset.
Here from Reddit, very nice mobile use but what about power consumption? I imagine this uses a lot of power so maybe making a power injector to charge the phone at the same time
I don't know, I can only answer qualitatively... it does seem to make the phone's battery die pretty quickly, and it gets fairly hot, though not too hot to touch. I believe the newer mini version has some better cooling.
Err, that's why I took the trouble to write subtitles manually (enable them with the CC button), and also why the video's description contains links to the apps involved...
I don't think I ever said one "needs" F-Droid. I don't have the Play Store installed, and I would definitely prefer to get open source software from an open source... source... and I think in my videos I'm entitled to recommend the source I think is ethically better, no?
@@lucaselte5909 Strictly speaking, if they really want to find out, they can. You can only listen. Fortunately, because it would be extremely illegal to transmit without a license! And this is something anyone can buy with $20 or less, so...
Thanks for this very useful.
great video
Is the nano you recommended ?
NESDR Nano 2 Plus - Tiny Black RTL-SDR USB Set (RTL2832U & R820T2) with Ultra-Low Phase Noise 0.5PPM TCXO, MCX Antenna
It didn't exist when I made this video. But it should be a good radio.
this video was exactly what I was after. do you have a link to the OTG cable you used?

Does anyone know how to tune in hf , 3mhz to 30mhz on rf analyzer?
Link to the small sdr USB radio device?

Yes, it does consume power. There are some OTG cables which have separate power input, so maybe using one of those could be a good idea.
Hi. Nice video. I would like to know how much power does it consume ? and how hot can it get?
I don't know, I can only answer qualitatively... it does seem to make the phone's battery die pretty quickly, and it gets fairly hot, though not too hot to touch. I believe the newer mini version has some better cooling.
If it's getting hot, you can bet it's consuming a lot of Power. Ideally you should have a Split cable and use an external battery ban
Do we need a rooted Android device...????
No, any device that supports USB-OTG should work, no rooting needed.
Whats the Name of the App? I cannot understand you. Only anything with "analyzer"

Why does one need FDroid? Both the driver and app are available on the Play store.

@@LjL-Videos you start by saying you need to install f droid. The way you say what you did implies the apps are not available on the Play store.

Can the police know that you listen to them by the rtl sdr??????
Nope, you can listen to any Channel without them nowing.
