- Rishi Sunak "is literally the worst person to be leading this country through a cost-of-living crisis," says Labour's Chris Bryant, urging the prime minister to "stop lecturing" people. The prime minister says he's doing "the right thing" to support families
Sunak risks failing against the very promises he told voters to judge him by.
At the beginning of January, the premier set five pledges he said would be the test of his performance. They were to halve inflation, grow the economy, reduce the national debt, shrink National Health Service waiting lists and stop migrants crossing the English Channel.
“I fully expect you to hold my government and I to account on delivering those goals,” Sunak said.
But six months on, inflation is proving sticky, recession is becoming more likely, and debt has risen, leading Bank of America Corp. strategists to characterize the UK as the “stagflationary sick man of Europe.” Meanwhile, hospital waiting lists are at a record and boats full of migrants continue to land on England’s shores.

@@StephenFirth-ui7oz the issue is that youre right, our options for elected representatives fundamentally arent representative of the public and they almost never have our interests in mind, but the lesser of two evils is still lesser and given that progress in this country is agonisingly slow it seems like the only option is for everyone to vote tactically or for a total upheaval of the labour party

He then embarked on a successful legal career, rising eventually to be the head of the CPS and it was his work there that earned him his knighthood. Everything Kier Starmer has earned in his life he worked damned hard for, that is the difference, that’s what sets him apart from the leader of the party of the self entitled. He did not attend a Tory aligned private school where he was taught it was birthright to be in power.

This is what happens when a man who didnt pay tax now has to pay tax on behalf of the entire country. He took money from poor or struggling areas to boost the lives of those in already rich areas who didnt need the money, he used tax payers money to build himself a swimming pool and buy a second home both cost over £1m. He doesnt care about the public, he only cares about himself and his rich mates, he even said in a interview before he was PM that he didnt care for anyone earning less than £100k a month.

My father grew up in a family that had a small holding to feed their own. 5 of them in a bed, sharing the bath water because they couldn't afford to run a bath for each of them. Both parents working full time to be able to keep a house over their heads. Yes that's another time, but that is poor. Not owning a company and being able to send your kids to a private schools.
His free trade deals will ruin our farmers, a long rich heritage of farming quality meat and veg, the UK cannot compete with Australian beef nor the kiwis lamb. Not to mention all of the small and medium enterprises (SME) going bankrupt over the last few years. Yes ok his Windsor framework is better than Johnsons, but it still isn't great. 100bn lost a year in our economy.
I was relieved when he came into number 10 after Truss but the same shit show has carried on - albiet not (quite) as bad! He will be forgotten a PM. No doubt he will get a green card and go to the states.
Many brits do not care what his heritage is, they care about their PM doing what is right for the people.

He’s a closet socialist who, instead of using his high tax policies for good, seems to be using it as a way to to tax the poorest and syphon the wealth back up to the top. He has to answer questions from the house. It is greatly frowned upon to not attend. That’s also why the house is packed aswell. Normally when they’re debating legislation and other things it is at maximum 30% full
