  • Hey Cat Nerds!
Hope your adventure training is going well!
Here we visit a newly developed natural green space called Central Sang in Deepcut. While there aren't many walkers about, which would make this walk perfect for adventure cat training, there is a lot of noise from the construction going on nearby. These strange and loud noises were making Buddy feel a bit apprehensive, and so he was stopping a lot and wanting to hitch a ride on the backpack, understandably so. The walk is a little more open than Buddy normally likes, so it was impressive when he got down to walk for at least half the trail! Buddy prefers the more enclosed single track walks.
During this episode you will see Buddy stop and stare at something for a while, and then he starts "backing up", which is a dangerous move as he can very easily slip out of his harness, and if he's already spooked by something, he could run off and get lost! So my tip here is to not let the lead get tight and try and pull your cat towards you as this only aids him in being able to wriggle backwards out of the harness. In these circumstances I let the lead go loose and just quickly go and pick him up so that he can sit on the bag, which is his "safe zone".
I hope this tip helps you. You never know when your cat might get spooked and the last thing you need is your cat running off! This is why you should always be cautious and patient so that your cat can build up their confidence safely.
    Happy Adventuring!
