The only kind of coffee I drink at home is folders drip coffee and whatever bottled Starbucks is in the fridge. I will also never buy any of these and never make any of the drinks she makes but her personality is just so much fun I can't help myself

That's because she is a barista. Baristas are trained specifically to make you want to come back for more.

I randomly picked up „Before the coffee gets cold“ when I was in a bookstore and the different characters‘ stories are wonderful!The book is so quick and easy to read as well.
Now I might go pick up James‘ book! 😁 I do have a machine at home, which makes ok coffee (I probably need to re-adjust the grind) but I would love to learn more about how to make actual good coffee!

I love my Ember mug. Perfect for anyone who enjoys their coffee while working or multitasking, where you aren't gulping down your hot coffee quickly. Can't tell you how many times I've worked on an email or two and come back to a tempid or cooled coffee that I was only half finished with. Sure it's a splurge at $100, but it definitely keeps you from having to encounter that sad feeling.

One of my favorite coffee people recommending the other one. I love it. I tell people that MDC is the art of coffee with a great understanding of the science and JH is the science of coffee with a deep appreciation of the art.

She makes me a red eye every morning. She wanted me to tell you that she loves cappuccinos, and that she also loves the color of your kitchen cabinets!

I read ‘before the coffee gets cold’ with my book club last year. There’s now a sequel.
I wasn’t impressed with it, it was a decent read but easy to put down without inspiring me to pick it up again. But some people loved it - books are a matter of personal taste.
Also, I love the cups you shared with us. So gorgeous!

I like coffee, in the sense that I like cappuccino's and iced coffee. I have the cheapest, simplest machine and I won't really put the cool things you say to use, but I love watching your videos! You're great, very entertaining and a great personality.

I love keeping your videos on in the background while I do other things, it's so nice to listen to your voice. I do wish there were subs though
Pro-tip for the WDT, you can buy acupuncture needles and 3d print a handle to make one yourself for pretty cheap! Also, I stick them in a small glass filled with uncooked rice to protect the needles: easy to refill and clean that way
I've seen people use champagne corks for the handle too. Looks like it can be made pretty cheaply if you're creative with it! I didn't think about the uncooked rice. Does that prevent the needles from rusting?
@@kanameken8000 I'm guessing it will help with moisture absorption as rice is pretty good for that. Also, it'll create a nice firm base for the improvised WDT. Something like an improvised pin cushion.
I am a senior close to 70 and have been a coffee drinker since my younger years when I was a CERN in a trauma setting ER. Coffee was the life saver as food and drink when I could not stop to eat for 12 hours. Your videos have been pushed in my feed lately starting with your frothier. So I am going to invest in one soon knowing a little more than cursory about them. Thank you for that. But I use Keurig right now so I am not too fussy about my coffee tools at this time. Still I’m enjoying this video. And watching your cat.

I found out about the (maybe not the same exact ones) puck screen, WDT, and spring tamper from James Hoffman’s channel… and I found out about James’ channel from you! So this is a happy full circle for me. I was definitely curious about your picks for these items after watching his video about his own espresso prep routine.
I have a really cheap handheld milk frother. I don't use it to froth milk mind you. Rather, I found they were perfect for mixing small volumes of liquid quickly and easy to clean. The main thing I use it for is to stir up my hot chocolate in the mug as it gets things combined really well, really quickly. You just put the hot milk in first, then float the cocoa mix on top, and finally slide the frother in and let it run until the drink looks fully mixed. Though I will note, floating the mix on top is semi important as while you can use the frother to remove any mix stuck to the bottom. By having it floating on top, the whirlpool created by the frother will draw in the mix and then the frother's head will instantly disperse it into the milk.

I really enjoyed the bit about cups and mugs and such - I like coffee, but I'm a huge tea enthusiast! Particularly traditional Chinese tea, and picking the right cup is definitely a science 😄🍵 Shape, size, thickness, and materials (clay type and glazed vs non glazed) makes a huge difference

Puro works great. On badly stained coffee gear it cleans exceptionally well. I'm on my second bottle and a little goes a long way as Morgan said, lasts forever.

I was gifted a travel Aeropress years ago and it very quickly replaced all the other coffee brewing techniques I used for my daily coffee. I couldn’t live without my homemade daily americano. Highly recommend that gift for anyone!

It's crazy what a difference you can taste with a pour over. I am not a big fan of hot coffee usually - I prefer cold brew - but pour over is so good. I only use it when I only want a cup of coffee though and not a whole pot
