Have a Volvo V60 at the moment, but ex30 is going to be my next car. Looks great, stylish, good price. I rarely travel more than 50 miles in a day, so the smaller battery and home charging ideal for me I reckon this car will be Volvos biggest ever seller
I love the looks and size of the EX30. It's certainly on my list as an option when my XC40 recharge comes up for renewal. However, having watched a few reviews, it seems a common concern is the lack of one pedal driving. The XC40 has true one pedal driving that will bring you to a complete stop but all the reviews were disappointed that the EX30 will not do that and isn't true one pedal driving. Not sure if anyone from Volvo looks at these comments but please, please, can an over the air update be done to at least give customers the option to select true one pedal driving if they want it? Once tried, I'm not sure why anyone wouldn't want to use it?
As awesome as this is, I'm actually more impressed by how you managed to shrink yourself so effortlessly. 😮 Jokes aside, great presentation and lovely SUV. I'm shocked by the price. Never thought Volvo, traditionally a luxury brand, would be so quick to launch a (relatively) affordable EV. But I'm glad. Keep going, this is exciting. :-)
Great launch video, great car if only it had a HUD. That would utterly transform driver convenience and safety and mitigate the negatives of a central touch screen (there are absolutely positives and I agree this is right approach to cut costs and design a minimalist interior). Please Volvo find a way to fit a HUD. They are internet rumours that the sound bar location prohibits a HUD. If that’s the case, it’s needs to be rethought. A HUD is essential if you have no driver display.

I want it directly in front of me. You have designed a stunning car but with no display in front of the driver you will lose a ton of sales. You’ve taken the very worst thing Tesla do and copied it.

Hi Julien, this was one of my biggest concerns as well, but if you look at the page Volvo created for this model, it actually states that they offer 8years warranty on the battery (exclusive of normal wear and tear capacity loss over time). I made an enquiry for 1 and asked what the projected capacity loss is likely to be.

I really like this car and reserved one. But I think i like the integrated screens in today's Volvo cars much better than this ipad shape screen sticking out like this.
Everything looks great, except the 5g connectivity because it looks like I'm paying an additional monthly subscription for that data in a time when we already pay for internet access on our phones and in our houses. It can't just use my phone's 5g? Do I really want another monthly bill?

yeah your problem is you won't have these in mass at the dealership, it will e 2 to 3 at the dealer in a year, with additional dealer mark up of $5000. Vast majority who step in will go to Telsa end up with model 3 or Y... Key is can you make enough so dealer do not gauge the consumer. It's one thing you can make a vehicle that looks great and has a decent spec sheet, it's another to actually to deliver, it's whole another thing to compete. When i step in a Volvo dealer, I don't see enough of the compact SUV like the xc40, I see a ton of $55K to 65K of XC60 and expensive xc90 both are out dated....
Our experience, backed up by a combination of research, data and expert knowledge, shows that driver distraction is more impacted by poor user interfaces than by the number or location of screens. Our internal research also shows that fewer screens can result in faster response times, and fewer missed cues. In the EX30, the screen has a high position with the driver information placed at the top, allowing the driver to glance at it more easily compared to a traditional setup - their eyes don’t need to move too far from the road. -Millie

I don't mind. China-made EV's are very reliable. Even in the Tesla community, people have pointed out that Tesla's made in China always seem to be better made than the American equivalents. Volvo's are still Swedish in design and character, which is great. And the fact that it's manufactured by people that have been in the business for long, and make reliable EV's, is a good thing imo.

Interesting car, it has a lot going for it. The problem is the access and afforability of electricity. We can't produce enough for existing demand, the network infrastucture alone to power more EV's will cost billions. Meanwhile, super efficent Petrol & Diesel engines are more efficient and Toyota develops Hydrogen and new technologies. Volvo is making a big mistake abandoning them and letting governments dictate the 2030 deadline, etc. People in millions of homes cannot plug in at home or work and don't 'stop for 25-30 minutes to recharge at peak times. The nature of battery use and range anxiety is that people in the real world only charge from 20% to 80% at most, even in a diesel car I get anxious at over 100 miles or 25% of range. The interior looks okay, but why no leather, I don't want cloth or plastics, leather breaks down back into the ground, plastics don't. Given the state of UK roads particularly rural roads, hard suspension and low profile tyres are inappropriate & uncomfortable, get broken more quickly (try hitting a pothole with low profile tyres). All the talk of ariflow around the fancy front bumpers is marketing, I want bumpets that take bumps and don't £900 to replace as cush new Volvo ones do. Another vital question is how long will the parts for the EX30 be available for? That is a crucial issue in the energy use, extending the life of cars is vital to reducing energy, minerals, metals, water, etc. Currently Volvo don't hold parts for cars 10 years beyond the end of the sale of each model. That means some parts are simply not available once your reaches say 15 years old, and the parts which are available can take weeks to reach you. That's before the many questions about battery life and replacement.

Just need a tiny speedometer above the wheel and a finely tuned control knob for HVAC next to the window switches. Incredible design.
And normal 4 button window controls with normal mirror adjustment, not through the screen. Glad it has at least mechanical steering wheel adjustment..

Interesting car, it has a lot going for it. The problem is the access and afforability of electricity. We can't produce enough for existing demand, the network infrastucture alone to power more EV's will cost billions. Meanwhile, super efficent Petrol & Diesel engines are more efficient and Toyota develops Hydrogen and new technologies. Volvo is making a big mistake abandoning them and letting governments dictate the 2030 deadline, etc. People in millions of homes cannot plug in at home or work and don't 'stop for 25-30 minutes to recharge at peak times. The nature of battery use and range anxiety is that people in the real world only charge from 20% to 80% at most, even in a diesel car I get anxious at over 100 miles or 25% of range.
The interior looks okay, but why no leather, I don't want cloth or plastics, leather breaks down back into the ground, plastics don't. Given the state of UK roads particularly rural roads, hard suspension and low profile tyres are inappropriate & uncomfortable, get broken more quickly (try hitting a pothole with low profile tyres). All the talk of ariflow around the fancy front bumpers is marketing, I want bumpets that take bumps and don't £900 to replace as cush new Volvo ones do.
Another vital question is how long will the parts for the EX30 be available for? That is a crucial issue in the energy use, extending the life of cars is vital to reducing energy, minerals, metals, water, etc. Currently Volvo don't hold parts for cars 10 years beyond the end of the sale of each model. That means some parts are simply not available once your reaches say 15 years old, and the parts which are available can take weeks to reach you. That's before the many questions about battery life and replacement.
