    EastEnders super fan Stacey Dooley sits down for a chat with two of EastEnders’ original cast members, Adam Woodyatt and Letitia Dean, aka Ian Beale and Sharon Watts. The pair reflect on starting out on the show together as teenagers, revisit classic scenes (and classic hair dos) and share their best backstage stories. They also tease what’s in store for Ian and Sharon when the show returns.
    Together they recall the time when as teenagers they were sent home from set for giggling, relive their failed bid for Top of the Pops glory, and Letitia gives her take on the recent 'Sheanu' storyline. Adam rewatches a scene that made him an internet meme, Letitia explains why a nailed down coffin gave her a nasty surprise, and Stacey finds out which cast member is most like their character.
    Adam also gives Stacey a VIP behind-the-scenes tour of the café, revealing which actor is responsible for their broken till.
    Some of Walford’s biggest stars join Stacey Dooley to relive classic scenes, share behind-the-scenes stories and reveal secrets that are normally kept under wraps.

    The whole Ian and Phil feud finally came to an end after he lost Lucy. Phil has been really sweet to him from then onwards.

      The feud did reignite over Dennis Jnr's death. But Ian then absconded since when Phil was going to "kill" him but would probably chicken out as usual.

    Those two were so lucky. Most Kids who start out on Soaps as Teens get "Let Go" so they could bring in someone else. Can you imagine what a Bond those two have.

    05:33 - Something I don't think most people know. Those reactions aren't actually Phil, that's Steve McFadden breaking character. Adam played Ian's pain so well, the tears were actually Steve's.

  • @laminage
    @laminage Před 2 lety +5

    Steve McFadden & Adam Woodyat gave their all in that scene. Victor Newman and Jack Abbott never had that scene back in the day on Y & R.

    Kathy looks EXACTLY the same. So does Sharon to a lesser extent but still. Kathy has barely aged a day!

    Older Phil is so much scarier, Steve lives near us both when growing up and now so we saw him semi-regularly and young, ginger Steve/Phil is just so sweet and not scary at all. Older Phil is so much scarier but older Steve is still a nice, funny man.

    Alot of US Folks are watching UK Soaps and they love them. When you get down to it, they have the distinction of being the "Longest" Running Cast Members along with Gillian Taylforth (Kathy) who saw so many changes in 35 Years at that time. In The US they've been doing Online Interviews with Actors/Actresses from Soaps that are now cancelled. On Friday they did one where they paid homage to Michael Zaslow who played Roger Thorpe on Guiding Light 1971-1997 on and off. He was sacked for having Lou Gerig's Disease and although Writers/Producers begged to keep him on to educate folks they weren't allowed. If this was a UK Soap they would have kept him on. They also were impressed knowing that the Ice Bucket Challenge is Worldwide.

    Ross Kemp did a Documentary about Crime in Philadelphia and folks had no idea of his Soap Legacy. Now more than ever Philly Music is next to Motown just as popular in The UK. Boybands/Girlbands have done cover versions of songs as well as Pop Stars in General. Remember they played The All Saints Version of Lady Marmalade Co Written by Bob Crewe of Frankie Valli & The Four Seasons.

    I heard Adam Woodyat may not come back to Eastenders. That would be so sad. So many Actors are "Leaving" their Shows. Danny Miller (Emmerdale), Elizabeth Estensen (Diane), David Neilsen Coronation Street (Roy Cropper). He has no idea how lucky he is to be able to do what he's doing. Alot of US Soap Actors would have given anything to do a show as long as he did.

    That storyline about an audio recording being played to the packed pub, revealing Sharon's affair with Phil was utterly far fetched and ridiculous!
    A shame EastEnders came along really, because it's influence meant old established 'Coronation Street' lost its heart and humour and instead copied its new rival's dark storylines. The tabloids pitted the two soaps against each other, and predictably the new, edgier 'EastEnders' swept the board at all the different TV awards, leaving Coronation Street standing. Corrie's response was to fall into the trap of following EastEnders downmarket. Suddenly there was a crime wave on Coronation Street and a serial killer around every corner!
    The Street never recovered and really should have been put out of its misery 20 years ago when the rot set in. Its once superb cast and scriptwriters produced some of the finest TV drama ever seen - vintage Coronation Street episodes can be found on CZcams showing its glory years between 1976 - '87. Modern Corrie isn't a patch on those fantastic episodes, in fact it's an embarrassment by comparison!
    Funny to see Ian Beale and Sharon Watts 35 years after their debut on Albert Square. He's turned into Albert Steptoe and she hasn't aged a day - because she always looked 50, God love her!
