  • My first Astromech build. Even though R2-D2 is a 2018 vintage build and entirely 3D printed, he's still going strong and has been operated hundreds of hours in public settings such as charity events, STEM sessions, and of course conventions such as Dragon*Con.
R2-D2 can play all of the music I highlight in the video and more. I just played short clips for time purposes.
My edited Marcduino code is located here: github.com/Eebel/SHADOW_MD_EEBEL

Thanks. Unfortunately, work gets in the way of droiding sometimes.

I keep hearing about an FTDI controller required for programming my incoming 1.5 boards (the new ones) two masters and a slave, but any link I click on within Curiousmarc web page are dead ends. Which one do you recommend? Looks like I will need one to program the body master for arms/doors. Thanks in advance.

They are out of stock at Sparkfun, but the sell them at Amazon. There are a coupe of options. But this is the one I used, although I bought it from Sparkfun originally. www.amazon.com/Sparkfun-Electronics-LYSB01BHHH714-ELECTRNCS-Pocket-Programmer/dp/B004G54E9I/ref=sr_1_1?crid=KXHI61J0PY5Z&keywords=pocket+AVR+Programmer&qid=1646226043&sprefix=pocket+avr+programmer%2Caps%2C37&sr=8-1

Is there anything I can do to get the Bluetooth to activate when on battery power code wise? It all works fine when plugged on the pc but then the dongle wont start when on the battery. Check wires and everything so far and did a bench test on the arduino mega and still nada so im thinking it has to be in code. Thanks!

Try reseting the Arduino after it starts. Then try to connect. You should see the bluetooth dongle flashing blue periodically when it is working. Oh, and it will connect...hehe

Astromech.net is the on ramp for droid building. There are lots of ways to do it depending on your skill and budget. If you want to buy one, Disney sells them for $25K. They are substantially less costly to build. I have a video on this subject. czcams.com/video/KhmOrDFa3Rk/video.htmlsi=IaJkJPBzdAGuiMRZ
