    This was my second time trying to make shower steamers. The first time mixture expanded and activated so I got frustrated and didn’t want to waste anymore time or money. But I saw your video and decided to try again and …perfection!!! Your method was perfect and provided me with the perfect Christmas gift for friends.
    Well done, thank you!🎉

    Thank you for sharing your video along with tips and tricks! I followed your video step by step and tip by tip. The moon press worked wonderfully although I had a couple that were a little wet and they sort of flattened out a little, but I will get better in time. They hardened very well but I haven't really been able to smell the strong aroma while in the shower, even after trying in a lighter water area and in the main stream. Any ideas or things to keep in mind? I think I may try again with 1 essential oil (1.5tbsp) and may double the melted mental (2tbsp), thoughts on this?

    • @itssimpleartisansoaps5694
      @itssimpleartisansoaps5694  Před rokem

      Hi, thank you. Citric acid helps with the fizzing of the shower steamer so that when warm water falls on it, it can melt and the essential oils can get into the steam. The shower steamer itself does not mist but the essential oils get into the mist from the warm water and it can be used as a inhaling treatment in the shower.

    • @itssimpleartisansoaps5694
      @itssimpleartisansoaps5694  Před rokem +1

      If you want the shower steamer to melt faster just reduce the corn starch. Hotter water is not recommended, because you need to shower in a water temperature that will suit you. If you personally like hot water then no problem. I do not use Polysorbate 80 in shower steamer because the amount of essential oils is to too much to make the floor slippery but you can add it if you want. These are just basic recipes that I use. You can change it as per your liking to personalize it.

      Hi, you need to first know if the mixture is too wet or too dry. I have a feeling that it might be too dry. Try the squeeze test to see if the mixture holds shape. If the mixture is too dry you just need more water, but if your mixture is too wet then you leave it to dry for sometime and keep checking on it and breaking the lumps that form. After sometime when you feel your mixture has dried a little try the squeeze test again and try to mold again. Hope it helps.

      The shaper/mold is called the moon cake press and I got it from Amazon. I keep the shower steamer away from direct flow of water. I just let the water drizzle on it. You can keep it in a well draining soap dish if you like.

      I dissolved 5gms of menthol crystals in 20gms of 99% rubbing alcohol. You can use more menthol if you like the menthol to be more powerful. I use less because I don't want the menthol to be overpowering my essential oils. Hope that helps.

      Hi, I am not too sure what could be causing the shower steamers to crack, maybe too dry because in my experience when it is too wet they fizz and form warts. It is ok to not get it right the first time, it took me many attempts and recipes to get it right.

    • @itssimpleartisansoaps5694
      @itssimpleartisansoaps5694  Před rokem

      I never had a problem with just 2 tablespoons of cornstarch but you might want to add more cornstarch or use cream of tartar if you want to ship the shower steamers.

      @itssimpleartisansoaps5694 thank you. Also, I made them using your recipe and they flattened out. Not melted, but just got flat when I left them to dry. It's hot here in California, about 90 degrees, do you think that did it?

    • @itssimpleartisansoaps5694
      @itssimpleartisansoaps5694  Před rokem

      I live in Texas, it gets to 90 degrees here as well but it never flattened out for me. One reason for it to flatten may be less moisture in the mixture. You can try to add more water and see if it binds together. Having the right moisture is important, too much or too little will affect the end product. Even the weather can cause problems, I don't make shower steamers or bath bombs when we have humid weather.
