  • @nom37cy52

    Some updates from 2022:
    1. it has now gotten three fase charging AC
    2. the UI has gotten an update and is now faster
    3. The range on the highway is around 350km but when its cold it will drop a little
    4. forward collision warning has got an update, it works really good now (saved me once already)
    5. legroom is still crazy, 200+cm people easily fit in the back
    6. While the base price compares to the base of the id4 and enyaq, it already comes loaded with features, and fro only 1900% you get the fully specced premium version that would cost about 10k more at vw or skoda

    ID.4 with big battery (77 kWh, 518 km WLTP) actually starts at €35,345 + shipping (about 800€?) in Germany - after Rebates and Incentives (BAFA). Under same conditions, Aiways U5 (63 kWh, 400 km WLTP) starts at €29,993. ID.4 small battery (52 kWh, 345 km WLTP) starts at 27,845€, so U5 is somewhere in between price- aswell as range-wise. I guess U5 has better specced standard config than ID.4 though, haven't checked.

    • @damirdamir1180
      @damirdamir1180 Před 2 lety

    • @OenkePoenke
      @OenkePoenke Před 2 lety +2

      @@damirdamir1180 Yawn. Go to the german VW configurator, configure the Pure (52 kWh) without options and you'll get 37,415€ before rebates, 33,845€ after the 3,570€ manufaturer rebate needed (automatically facored in by the configurator) so you get BAFA, substract another 6,000€ (tax free) BAFA from the german state and you're at 27.845€ EXACTLY including 19% VAT (MwST). Finally, add about 800€ (incl VAT) shipping to your local dealer and handling costs, which he will always put on the bill.
      Same for the Pro (77 kWh): 44,915€ base, 41,345€ after 3,570€ manufaturer rebate, 35,345€ incl VAT after state side BAFA. Again, add ~€800€ (incl VAT) for shipping and handling.
      Same for Aiways U5, german configurator:
      Standard Trim, no options: 32,750€ WITHOUT VAT, 3,000€ manufaturers rebate WITHOUT VAT, = 29,750€ WITHOUT VAT = 35,402.50€ INCL VAT + 590€ shipping INCLUDING VAT = 35,992.50€ (they round up to 35,993€) INCLUDING VAT. Then substract 6,000€ tax free state rebate = 29,992,50€ (they're rounding it to 29,993€)
      They're mixing parts incl VAT and without VAT, making it complicated to sum everything up.

    This is just the start. Chinese EV makers have had the largest auto market in the world and a supportive govt enabling them to develop economies of scale where they can now enter western markets at or close to price parity with ICE. BYD's Blade battery is down to $95/kwh.

      because they like to copy everything and therefore save development costs. because the cost of living is significantly lower (in relation). because they buy raw materials very cheaply, and because they buy cheap raw materials. because of the extreme mass production. because the working conditions are not the best. and because the chinese government is not what it could be...if it wanted to be.

    I was test driving the U5 twice but at the end we decided for the Skoda iV60 as it was - after dealer incentives, etc. - only 1800 Euros more expensive than the U5. I do not trust the independent maintenance at ATU too much. Plus the safety features are way better in the iV60. Plus some other strange software "features" in the U5 and the missing navigation. Would have cost a new suspension strut at around 2.000€ (? long time ago, maybe it was stil Deutsche Mark). Big fail. Told my local mechanic, he looked at the numbers and he saw, they confused degrees/minutes/seconds with decimal floating point 🤦He sent me to a better skilled workshop, which got the numbers right, corrected the adjustemnt and off I went for something like €50 instead.

    look at this car again in 3 or 4 years. or at 100.000-150.000 km. it would be interesting to see. and don't get me wrong. i'm not prejudicing.
    3 stars in ncap is not acceptable.
    yes...the door closing sound is like from a mercedes. an a-class from 2000.
    braking from 100-0 kph = 36,5 m. other similar cars do it in 3 m less.
    maximum allowed weight is already exceeded with 5 adults. so the luggage has to stay at home.
    that the company a.t.u (at least in germany) is responsible for maintenance and service, is questionable.
    and the range of 290 km is realistic, if you don't want to become a traffic obstacle. but 290 km is below average.

    The only slight downside to the Chinese EVs seems to be the limited charging speed - this one only around 90kW max. In comparison to the European (and American) competition that's rather low. If they were able to up that a little bit, it would be a no-brainer (which is perhaps already is in most use cases)...

    The car only has 1 phase charging, which is max 3.7kW on home 11kW chargers (in Denmark at least). Having a ~60kWh battery, that means 80% charge is roughly 13 hours...
    However the 200hp version has recently gotten tow hitch added. And it can be retrofitted to existing 200hp cars. So this is very nice indeed.
    The one thing that is holding me back (maybe more?) is the 1 phase charging on AC... it's simply not enough with that large a battery.
    I currently have a ioniq classic, which also has 1 phase charging, and i wouldn't get a car with a larger battery with 1 phase charging.

    • @96Lauriz
      @96Lauriz Před 2 lety +1

      If you wish to spend money to charge faster, you can get phase combiner from 2 to 1 phase and get 32A charging. Few people have done this in Denmark

      Also, coming home in the evening with 10% is not really an option either, if i need 100km+ of range the next morning.
