  • As Rishi Sunak confirms a General Election for July 4th, 2024, Ben Kentish and Natasha Clark react to the announcement.
Speaking on the steps of Downing Street, the Prime Minister vowed he "will never leave the people of this country to face the darkest of days alone".
The PM declared it "the moment for Britain to choose its future" and said the election will take place at time "when the world is more dangerous than it has been since the end of the Cold War".
He added: "This hard earned economic stability was only ever meant to be the beginning, the question now is how and who do you trust to turn that foundation into a secure future for you, your family, and our country?

@tenniskinsella7768, please let's have your predictions for how Labour will be awful....
      * Will Labour defund the entire criminal justice system to the brink of collapse?
      * Or will they impose austerity on the NHS until it's at breaking point?
      * Maybe they'll cut the fire services' budget.
      * They might cut the budget to all local authorities and plunge them into drastic public service cuts. Then blame them for struggling
      * Starmer might start throwing parties in no. 10, instead of governing the country
      * And when everyone starts complaining, they might whip up the odd culture war or two by encouraging England fans to boo their national team in the Euros this summer as a distraction from their failure to govern properly

This country was left in a dark whole by Labour in 2009. They left a note on the desk of number 10 saying "sorry, all the money is gone, bye". We then went into austerity. Now, there's been 14 years past, and people have short memories; Labour relies on people with short memories to vote for them. Labour also like people who don't really understand politics. If you are one of those people, I hope you can see beyond the nonsense and ask yourself, what change are you looking for? Things can always change for the worse, like they did when Labour were around last time.

do not effin fight for votes!! give us clean water, cheaper food, childcare, 48 hour NHS waiting list. my father was building roads, and whenever the local MP was thundering about fighting new roads for the community, he used to say you don't figth roads, you build 'em. same goes for votes and trust.
