The first song my guitar teacher wanted me to learn back in the early 80’s. My friends were all learning Crazy train and he had me learn this. I appreciate it now! Time to brush up on this one. Thanks Ivor
I know guys ivor is such a blessing to us … Marty used to be my go to guy but he kinda takes short cuts not ivor he loves us and we love you … it’s the passion you put into this I can feel it
Just brilliant! There's nothing wrong with 'campfire versions' when they sound this good! Yet another song to add to the Ivor Sorefingers playlist! You really are an inspiration and I've learned more in the past couple of weeks since discovering your channel than I have in years of trying to learn from other people. Thank you 👍❤️
Hi Hani Darwich. Glad you enjoyed my lesson. Yes, I expect after making 1600+ lessons my playing skills have improved some. Thank you for your feedback. Ivor
Thanks Ivor for another great lesson. You’ve brought some of my favorite songs within reach for me to play and I really appreciate that. Have you ever heard Deep Purple’s version? It was on their first album and some of the riffs had a Spanish sound, I guess because of Joe’s intention to run "… down Mexico way." Anyway, thanks again!
Not really a Jimi Hendrix "Hey Joe" but a more traditional Billy Roberts style version which, as luck would have it, is exactly what I've been looking for!
This is completely the Jimi Hendrix version, Billy Roberts did not record it and there is a bit of mystery to who really wrote it. The videos on YT that say it's Billy Roberts are not reall
Wow Ivor, great stuff. Your no average "Joe" and you keep on rolling some great work out. Also glad to see you've lost a couple of jumpers like me. The weathers great at the moment. Thankyou Ivor.
Very cool Ivor , sounds nice ... took 6 months to master Jimi's lead guitar part in this song but in the end I could play (dub) exactly over him ... and the truth is I cannot really remember how to play it now , would have to start from scratch again , lol ... ages ago I played Hey Joe very very similar to how you are showing here , very cool Ivor ... p.s. , will you tell me what your acoustic guitar is , and strings , I think it's a very nice sounding guitar , it's special I'm sure ...
Hi Dan. My guitar is a Taylor 'Big Baby' made in 2003. I bought it secondhand in 2007 from a pro gigging musician and it had a bit of cosmetic damage but played well and sounded great. It's one of Taylor's 'entry level' models so on paper nothing special. Solid spruce top, laminate back and sides and a bolt-on neck. It's just one of those one in a hundred guitars that just feels and sounds right when you pick it up and play it. I've tried out many expensive Taylor's, Martin's etc but I still prefer my old 'Big Baby'. For strings I use Elixir Acoustic Phosphor Bronze Custom light (11-52) Nanoweb Coated. Ivor
@@ivorsorefingers ... thanks Ivor , your Big Baby Taylor guitar really does have a very nice sound , I noticed it right off ... my 2 acoustics are Martin's , the one I play most is a D12-20 (bought new in 1969) but have only used 6 strings on it for longer than I can remember now , lol , I've probably tried every type strings out there but D'Addario phosphor bronze lights are one of my favorites , either the EJ16's (light) or EJ26 (custom light) , but for the past 4-5 years I've been using the Martin Retro (MM11) strings (custom lights) , they are Nickel and Monel , they have a very unique sound bring out stronger tones , they acutely improve the sound and volume that comes out my D12-20 probably because the 12 string body is a bit heavier made and braced inside than a 6 string ... I can tell you that I used to "almost" be able to play my D12-20 with as much ease , precission and control as a 6 string , but cannot play a 12 string like that anymore , lol ...
