    Wow, learnt so much more about Hendrix's playing AND the circle of fifths in one lesson (Did he realise at the time his playing was around the circle of 5ths or did it just come naturally?).

      @joebloggs8636 yep. I said this in another reply to you - but have you heard Niela Horn, Roberts ex girlfriend, song Baby Please Don't Go Into Town? She claims that he used that song and stole it to write Hey Joe. Now, I oostende to that song about 8 times the other day (she's actually in the comments section calling Roberts a thief and the only reason she didn't sue was because she hates dealing with lawyers).
      If you're interested, you can listened to it on CZcams but honestly, I don't know what makes her think he stole the song from her when her song sounds nothing like Hey Joe

      Here's also the paradox that if he hadn't died, would he have been looked at, still, as great as he is? Personally, I think the answer is yes but it's something to consider. Kurt Cobain, too.
      If someone dies at the beginning of their career, when everything they do is very fresh, they are a mass of unlimited potential.
      Like Brian Jones vs the rest of the Stones.

      @joebloggs8636 that's right. I listened to another song recently where the female songwriter, who was an ex if Roberts, claims he stole Hey Joe from her.
      I've listened to that song of hers about 8 times and I cannot hear Hey Joe in it at all.
      Niella Horn's song Baby Please Don't Go Into Town and she claims Roberts plagiarised her.
      I can't hear Hey Joe from the song at all, tbh

    Soooo i just looked into this briefly but Hey Joe IS NOT a Jimi original... apparently it's a cover and there is controversy over the actual author due to heavy usage in the 50s/early 60s....kinda upsetting to know it wasnt Jimi's original but obviously no one can play it like him and i haven't looked into early renditions, i assume they are no where near Hendrix style...shoulda looked into it more but wanted to comment early and hopfully our guy Marty will see this and let us in on what he know about it.💪 long live Jimi AND Marty the YT GUITAR TUTORIAL GOAT💯🐐🍻

      @@MartyMusic I knew you would! Upon further investigation I saw Billy Robert's recorded 2 versions in 1961/1962. The 1st recording he says "hey joe, where you goin with that MONEY in your hand" and the 2nd version is the traditional way. BUT it seems that the Tim Rose version (xtra gritty🔥🔥🔥) is the one that inspired Jimi... Thx 4 the reply, knowledge, and inspiration bredren Marty🙏

    While I truly appreciate the technical breakdown of this classic song, do you really think this young black guitarist from the Seattle/Tacoma area was really considering the circle of 5ths, major arpeggio chord progressions, and chromaticism??
    Somehow I believe he was just playing from the soul and these sounds just flowed from his fingers.
    We were graced with his sounds for a very short (too brief!) time and I would like to think these were just a projection of his innate talent and we were blessed to be her to hear it. Thank You!

    • @dr123hall
      @dr123hall Před 5 měsíci

      Right! Jimi was taking licks and tips to “do your own thing” from army buddy master of smooth deep Blues, jazz and Bluegrass (never given credit of the white mans “blues”, multi instrument master-Gatemouth Brown, other influencers like Aaron “T. Bone”Walker, blues players like Wolf, House, Waters, oh yeah, Jimi got the goods and developed his own chops, but reading music or marching to theory? No, he was not a classic music theory player, but an Ear Trained- Road and Stage Theory player! he tuned his guitar down half pitch to match his vocals, landed modulations and progressions in a never before or since, played Hey Joe Circle Fifths to Olympic Hights!
