It's really hard to imagine how people built such a great building back then,
It is not easy to build the stone road just to get there,
It's a pity that you can't go in that big temple, but you climb up and walk over there,
let us see the mausoleum above, and the ancient theater from the top, it is really a worthwhile trip! 👍😃👏

I visited Petra with a tour group in March. Our tour guide dropped us off at our hotel while he went to Aqaba to pick up members who were joining our group from Egypt. I was on my own for the evening and learned about the "Petra At Night" tour from the hotel clerk. I immediately bought a ticket for that tour and had the most incredible evening ever! The Siq path had candles in bags to show the way and when we got to the Treasury, there was a half hour program of three musicians playing ancient instruments while a light show lit up the Treasure. Unforgettable! Seeing it the next day in the daylight was amazing and our tour guide was very knowledgeable about the history. I didn't walk to the monastery, however, since we had a time limit to be back at the entrance to leave for the next part of our trip - Israel. We visited Israel before Passover/Ramadan so did not see or experience any conflict during our time there. That was an epic tour! I recommend going at time when there are no religious holidays or festivals scheduled, however.

Famous for its rock-cut architecture and water conduit system, Petra is also called the "Rose Red City" because of the colour of the stone from which it is carved. It has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1985.

When we talk about something carved into the rock, I recommend you to see Ellora and Ajanta caves. Both sites are out of this world. Abu simbel with more than 3000-year-old history, it has more complex internal room. Without the surrounded beautiful entrance like Petra, it is still breathtaking level. Hey Carol and Chris, Petra is an amazing city, with all of it carved into the hills of sand stones. I find it to be one of the most fascinating ancient cities in the world, just like the valley of the kings. I am glad you have gone to this area to visit, as I have always been fascinated about these old cities. These places you go are in biblical times, this makes me excited about these videos. The monastery is a really big carving!! No crosses because it is a Muslin nation and Christianity is frowned upon, this is why you see no crosses in this Christian sector. That was some crazy walking to go through Petra, and it is sad that tourists get scammed, I had cheats and liars, plus find it sad they make it a bad experience that you remember on ones vacation. Better to watch it through the both of you, then actually visit myself. Even it being a wonder of the world and loving the desert, at my age and such bad health, it would be to much. In my youth I would of spent days walking through every part of Petra. Thanks for the amazingly great video, to bad they do not let you do drones due to regional wars. Be safe on these trips. Later old friends✌🏻🙏🏻🌴🐪🌴😎

Very enjoyable. My wife and I walked up and down the more difficult and steep route. Unfortunately, we were rushing down to rejoin our group when she fell and fractured her ankle and foot. The paramedics had to take her down on a donkey. It's a long story, but the Jordanians were so very kind to us. We then returned to Jerusalem to continue our three month stay in that wonderful country.

I went there in february 22, it’s a amasing place. We had a guide that you can book in advance with the Jordan PASS or online. It’s worth it because you have a better idea how they have build the City etc. Why the roman annexed PETRA … There are os much stories about this city

Great video guys.... Thank you for coming to Jordan.... A quick note, I noticed that you had alot of questions and assumptions about the archeological and historical aspect of the site... Maybe next time it's better to hire an official tour guide so he can help answering all of your questions and give you alternative trails because the site is huge. Thanks again for coming

@@yolindabadenhorst2099 sorry for the late response, the prices actually varies from a trail to another. For the main trail it's usually 70 USD ( 3 hours) . Other trails have different prices. Welcome to Jordan 🥰

Another SPECTACULAR video! You sure captured the natural beauty of the red canyon rocks AND the carved historic structures of Petra! Some say that they originally lured travelers into the Siq to rob them ages ago but then they realized that they could get ever RICHER if they traded with them (and they very carefully managed every single drop of water they had access to so the citizens and traders would always have a reliable supply) and THAT may be why they created their spectacular city from the canyon walls! Just think, it's very possible that the frankincense and myrrh (!) that the Three Wise Men brought to the Baby Jesus may have been routed through Petra itself from what's now Yemen and Ethiopia! And, of course, from all those high vantage points above the main city, they could see EXACTLY the size and the prosperity of any traders/travelers! BTW, if you thought temples, tombs and churches carved from canyon wall was something, I hope you consider travelling to Lalibela in Ethiopia where they carved entire churches from solid bedrock basalt! EXCELLENT video and THANKS SO MUCH for this!
