Excellent work! Love the semi-transparency in the epoxy! Gives the wood and the whole table so much more dimension!
It’s a work of art very beautiful
Шикарный стол и "простые" стулья.... 🤣🤣🤣
I like the matte finish!!
Woooow
I always watch your video. Thanks for your important information
Beautiful table. I love your choice of wood. And using the less expensive liquid glass works out very well.
Beautiful table , very impressed with the wood and the epoxy, I wasn’t expecting to like it so much, but I’m sure the customer will love it, I sure do👍. G
High skill & Masterpiece
Must say, this is favorite of yours so far.
Wish we could get this wood here in the states
bravoooo
I love these tables! I can't wait to start building these!
Great, work! But eish! Wear a mask when you sand, bru. Those fine particles can't be good to breathe in.
Thanks for the kind words.
I know I know, I should focus more on safety. 😇

Молодцы!
that's insane! love it
Hi Greg. Love your work. I live in the US Pacific Northwest where it is cold and rainy for half the year. I’m planning a table like this for a covered outdoor kitchen area. In a driving rainstorm the table will get wet. What would your recommendation be for finishing such a table for use in these conditions?
Yes, Love the final sheen & the color of the wood is gorgeous!! These tables sure take a ton of work, I hope you are being well paid!!
Baie Mooi!
amazed by your work. but I hope you provide details of the type of epoxy and its mixture so that it can be understood 🙏🙏🙏
Can you give a detailed guide on choosing the epoxy mixing ratios. And the materials required to make one in a cost effective way.
Gorgeous work, love that table! But can’t second the dust mask/dust extractor comment enough, epoxy dust can be lethal, it’s just not worth it!
Hi greg, when you put your table tops onto a metal frame, do you put the screws inserts into the wood only, because sometimes I see only epoxy in the corner areas and no wood near the corner, I wondered how you then attach your metal frame to the top.
Thanks greg
Nice work! Great design. Just a tip... When you work with epoxy you should wear gloves and preferably a face mask when you are routing or sanding. Skin and epoxy are not a good combination. It can take shorter or longer but in the end you might develop serious skin-issues. The infamous epoxy eczema is no joke. Neither is lung cancer. There is good reason why professionals take precautions.
Hola amigo excelente trabajo!!!por favor podrías traducir que significa odie´s oil??? gracias!!!
Looks excellent!
👍👍👍
can I use and wood polish wax
Great detail and explanations, table looks beautiful.
How durable is the finish to daily use, like as a kitchen table?
Ненасколько
How do you fill little cracks on the top without staining the table? using black.
S U P E R .....
Hi Greg. Ek dink jou werk is regtig uitstekend! Eks baie nuuskierig, betaal mense in SA regtig R450 000 vir so 'n tafel? Hoe bemark jy jou tafels?
What do you use to clean the slab before placing in the mould?
Love your work! Where do you get your wood slabs from?
All over South Africa. Mostly Tzaneen
Yooo I’m SO EXCITED to find someone who does DIY videos I’m SA! This was amazing. Do you have an Instagram/website?

Hi Greg... I want to know about thikness wood for table...tq
Ended up to 50mm
Please sr how much you buy the epoxi can you send me a link of the shop thaks
Hey Greg - great work...I too agree that island tables look much better than the standard river tables - much more flowing and natural.
That being said - I'm curious why you don't seal all sides and edges of the slabs with epoxy before you do the pour?...from the research that I've done it seems that sealing all surfaces helps to eliminate random bubbles while also protecting the raw wood from getting stained when using dark liquid pigments???
Thanks for the support.
Honestly speaking both methods are working perfectly, if you going to use a solid colour epoxy then if your slab will make bubbles then you won’t see them only if your epoxy are going to be see through.
I will make a video on this in the near future
@@diywithgreg Thank you will be looking forward to watching it...love your videos...keep them coming if you can make it on YT like Black Tail Studio...you'll be set for life!
Beautiful work, friend!
How many kg of resin did you use?
And what is the size of the table?
Think we used about 60 to 70kg.
2.7m long x 1.1m wide
Would you be in favour of sanding down to 2000 grit before using the Odies Oil so that both the epoxy and wood have a natural shine from the sanding alone?
Definitely not. Sanding wood to higher grid is not a good idea, then the oil will not penetrate into the wood.
Odies we normally sand to 400 and stop from there, rubio we and to 180.
Did u rub both the side of table with sand paper ???? And can u say from which number to which number did u use in sand paper ??
Work is so good ,, looks awesome
Yes sanded both sides to 400 grid..
Hello sir, can you know the size of this table and the type of wood
Came to this channel after watching Blacktail Studio videos. CZcams suggested this video. Very impressive work, interesting to see the difference in techniques. Just a question, the wax on the bottom mold surface is there a reason for that? All the best from Fiji. Hope things in South Africa turn right for everyone. God bless.
Thank you for the kind words, we also lobe blacktails videos, theres also a channel black forest that also males great content.
The wax we use is to prevent the epoxy from sticking to the wood, I know in the US they like to use the tape method, we find it best to use the wax, its cheap and fast.
We have about 7 tables lined up so theres alot of videos on the way.
😇
@@diywithgreg Looking forward to the videos with the 7 tables. I have a portable sawmill in Fiji and am looking to get into similar types of projects when the COVID restrictions are released. Going to build my house first from timber sourced from our clan owned land. Once I get past that then will look into other end user timber products. All the best mate.👍😎
What are all the waxes, oils, polishes, and release agents you used
what kind of wood? unfortunately I don't speak English and I couldn't understand if you spoke about it in the movie
This wood is sourced locally from South Africa and is called Matumi wood
Jis broer, waar is jy gebaseer? Ek wil graag leer hoe om die tafels te doen! Love die video!
You were going in the wrong direction with your router, it can be dangerous if it jumps on you.
What kind of wood?
Matumi
Could you see the layers through the top or the side. I’m doing the same transparent black. I want to do one pour but ecopoxy says it’s too thick not to do it. Your table turned out great. I’m just hoping not to see a line every time I made a pour
Hi James, thanks for the kind words.
So the epoxy application we are using only allows us to pour layers and not do a deep casting, so to get the same colour consistency throughout theres 2 methods.
Mix your colour pigment into your main batch of “Resin” NOT YOUR HARDENER!
Or you can add exactly the same amount of colour pigment into each batch you pour.
Hope this helps.
Thanks for the support
what the name of this piece of wood ?
Matumi from South Africa
Greg, why can't you put screws into the epoxy? Is it necessary to put your screws into the wood portion of the table?
Is it possible to share with us how much you sell your furniture builds for when you done.Love your work🤯🪚🪚
Thanks for the support.
They do cost a pretty penny 😉
Does torching the live edge to make it dark cause any issues in binding between the resin and torched wood? What grit do you use to sand the torched edge? Great work new subscriber
Thanks for the support, the bonding will still be good, we used 120 grit to sand the inside edges, also make sure to wipe the edges off with a cloth.
@@diywithgreg а чем протирать нужно?
Awesome video! I’m in Johannesburg. Where do you get your threaded inserts from? Can’t find them anywhere!! May I also ask what it costs to make a beautiful table like this, and what you sell it for? Many thanks.
Guy hozit.. we buy all out threaded inserts at Gelmar, they have 2 types, buy the bigger ones.
Depending on size but the sell for between 35 and 95k.
Rands or dollars ...sorry just curious ...your work is on another level ...u an an artist fantastico....u deserve dollars
Where do you get your wood in South Africa ?
We have a few suppliers over the country.
Mostly Tzaneen
Isnt the Odies oil gonna be removed if u buff it away like that on the epoxy?, because it doesnt penetrate the epoxy, it only sticks to the surface? I think you need to use a machine to buff it out evenly? maby im wrong
No, odies oil is a legit product. They even say you have to buff it in, we give our clients a jar of odies and show them how to maintain the table.
😍👍👌
Can this type of epoxy stand the outdoor elements?
Not recommend.. the sun can cause discolouration on the epoxy.
Hello, I ask you: this cannot be done with liquid porcelain too?...
Not to sure 🙏🏻
