I was so jealous of my friend who had a 386. Obviously this wouldn't run on my dads XT. I'm trying to convince my 10 year old son to play this with me, but he doesn't seem interested. If you guys managed to figure out how to play this online, then I'm all in.

What I wish to see if you can play as blue Orcs (or red Humans)in multiplayer. In both campain and regular "skirmish" you are always playing as your faction canon color. But in multiplayer, both players could pick the same faction. I just would like to see someone playing with non-canon color.
It was a revolution and an epic game when it was released, but we can see from far how War 2 improved it. I can see how any small disadvantage you get in the game is pretty hard to work-around to fix it. Especially if the enemy reveals your base and there is no fog, and if you have not made the right amount of units, the peasants can't help in the fight. Not sure if i'm talking by inexperience, since i'm noob (both in single and multiplayer). But i can understand pretty well the changes in War 2. It was fun to watch nonetheless. I have played it relatively recently in DosBox, but the computer AI is boring, it attacks you when you attack them, so if you "turtle", then, you win, if not, the computer just rush to you and gg. This is one of my infancy game and i used to love playing it with my brother, but i never played multiplayer.

Yes, WC1 makes you realize how great WC2 is. Blizzard had only a few months to develop it but they added so much. 4v4 multiplayer, water combat, fog of war, 640x480 SVGA, Windows support, a map editor. WC1 is still good in its own way though.

with w1 problem is that its very laggy, niko was connecting to my laptop, sorry but I dont want to give any random person to connect my laptop, but if you want play some w1 I can give you my insane diffcult campaign for warcraft 1 but we can try with connect

It is not that easy, lag is real in this game. I remember when i tried it with friend and it was when we tried it. I mean... we at least could not call it fair play on LAN. Regarding spearmen they were a little bit over archers but... elementals are stronger than demons in a late game so overall humans > orcs if you manage to survive to late game. We cannot demand much from this game. This is very old game after all :-)

problem is lag :/ I have tried with many people, and its lag impossible to play, only if we sit next to each other there wont be lag
I'm 17 and If I was your son, I would gladly accept playing some good old warcraft 1 with you

maybe start with max peopns to get into action quickly and maybe ban major summoning and knights

You cant Play as blue orc or Red human, you will see that only as opponent

its possible to connect without lan, it worked with few people, but It still can be lag, you got discord?

I dont think so, its hard to play w1 without lag, second person from video connected to my second laptop so he had a bit delay and problem with mouse
