If the ship rolled when it sank it only needs to be the depth of the beam of the ship to completely submerge it.
True. Also if it was hit there is a good chance the superstructure suffered major damage and this would reduced the height. So either way it would need less depth to totally submerge it.
I was just going to write that it might have fallen over but you beat me by 12 minutes. I am crest-fallen.
If another ship is never seen using this berthing position, that would be circumstantial evidence there's something submerged there which they're avoiding. The constantly reducing number of Russian ships in Sevastopol means there's plenty of space on the piers so it wouldn't be conclusive, but I assume the fact that one of the most important remaining ships was allocated to that berth must mean there's something positive about it's location.
true--good point.
@@allanmason3201Given Ukraine's recent successes, it might be a long while before Russia has the temerity to berth any ships at all in that harbor. I would really like to see them try, however.

Such an insult to Russia that they're losing ships galore to a country that doesn't have a navy to speak of.
'Mighty Russia' my behind.
Was this the country we were all afraid of ? (yes, apart from nuclear weapons, I know)
Yes, they are losing ships, but be real, this is total nothingburger. There is no proof of anything here.
And were you previously afraid of Russia? Why, are you 90 years old and grew up during the Red Scare?
Most of the nukes would be inoperable.
It takes huge amounts of money and constant maintenance to keep nuclear weapons in working order.

I'm surprised Ukraine doesn’t have several drone boats outside the harbor when they do a missile strike like this to enable them to attack orher ships when the ATACMS strike flushes them from the harbor.
They get gunned down by Russian Navy helicopters. Follow some other sources of info if you don't want to be half-stupid.
They like to use drone boats at night, and Russia doesn't move the rest of the ships until the break of dawn.... probably for that very same reason.
You make my mornings a little brighter Sucho.
6:20 if the floating crane intercepted an ATACMS as well, the harbour would be kind of reduced in capacity ...

This may force Pootie into a old fashioned soviet style 'head rolling party' in his Grand Navy. Similar to what happened with recently at the 2nd (worst) army & all their generals being fired lately. You would think the Orcs could tolerate an amazing amount of incompetence. But it seems like even they have their limits.
Remember how impenetrable the orc air defences were supposed to be? Those are the guys staying away from open windows, and not really enjoying their food anymore. 😂
4:55 Hmmm. Can the ATACMS reach Novorossiysk? A nice collection of scrap metal, there.
No, max range for the ATACMS is 190mi, from the front line to Novorossisk is about 250mi. Still in range of Storm-Shadow/ScalpEG though.
@@colbunkmust ok, perfect. Neptune, the God of sea votes then for Storm Shadow 🤣

Boat width matters more than height, for submersion, as it's almost certain to roll to one side when it hits the bottom; Karakurt is 11m wide. Those depth values given on the page are shallower than quoted in the vid. Minimum depth (low tide) in the channel is 6.4 meters, not 7.6; minimum depth in the anchorage is 12.5 meters. At 11m wide and being taller than it is wide, if it's fully submerged in these waters it's because it's been completely destroyed (my hope, naturally).
They only tend to roll over in deep water. Many ofl the ships at Perl Harbour were somewhat upright because they rolled back once they started touching the bottom. A ship has to go down pretty much perfectly sideways, or rolled further over than 90 degrees, for that not to happen to some extend.
Since these were likely M58 ATACMS hits, I'd imagine the ship sunk somewhat straight, as they come down almost vertically, and have a penetrating warhead that can be set to delayed detonation. Modern corvettes are aluminium constructions, and the M58 warhead can penetrate several meters of concrete, so it's pretty likely they simply blew out the bottom of the ship.
@@andersjjensen So they're taller than they are wide and wouldn't likely roll on sinking, making it even less likely that they're sitting there under water that shallow, unless they're completely destroyed (entirely possible, considering the cargo of the missile ship)... One hopes they're completely destroyed.
Thank you good sir
There is a lack of an oil slick & turbidity. Flotsam will be coming up for days even with a small ship. I might suggest it was hit at mooring & managed to get underway after the attack. Sinking some place else. Or, it got underway just before the attack & the missiles guidance was altered to strike it.
Or, and just hear me out, it wasn't hit at all. I know, it's crazy, but just consider it for 1 second.
@@allydea That is a possibility. But then why the rescue ships & recovery crane? I think it is very likely something was hit. They rarely miss but a ship leaving just before the strike isn't impossible.
@@allydeathen why the rescue ships? Cope harder
@@tracboy80 Because they are always there? That's like asking: _why does a doctor exist when there is no sick person near him at this exact time?_
I will cope harder when there is something to cope about. But you, you should fantasize less.
@@Sameoldsongdance Who knows? There may be plenty of routine reasons. But I would entertain the idea that "something" was hit. Even that a ship was hit. But to conclude that this particular ship was SUNK based on this "evidence" is a clear example of biased reasoning.
Glory to Ukraine! Слава Україні!
Wither way it's constructively destroyed. If recovered it'll be over a year being rebuild or scrapped. Good job 😊
The actual depth of the harbour is probably a lot less than is shown on pre war maps due to the Black Sea ex fleet now filling it in.
A Brucie Bonus, for getting them all in order.
The only problem with control freaks is they make errors in trust all the time.
You may find that the Tsiklon has been reassigned to the DJL flotilla.
Sevastopol is the first multistorey naval base
Perhaps it’s worth considering the nature of these rescue ships compared to the available targets? There’s several of them and would that number really be required if it wasn’t the Karakurt that’s at the bottom of the harbor?
Have to wait for a new 'Drain the Ocean' series for confirmation.
Maybe im crazy but, at 5:59 it looks like a small ship is on front of the damaged Building. The ground look´s wet and scratched.
CIT team claim that they have a closeup image which confirms that Tsiklon is sunk.

@@suchomimus9921 Perhaps sigorolo means the Russian Conflict Intelligence Team (OSINT and HUMINT; an "undesirable organisation" founded by Ruslan Leviev, who for some time now has been given war update reports on Maxim Katz's YT channel on Sundays). Слава Україні та її воінам...
Not to forget that the boat might have sunk on it's beam, a measurement that's generally less than the height.
If it sank in shallow water I'd expect the outline of the ship should be visble even if completely submerged. Possible it was damaged but managed to relocate under its own power or towed.
That water did look rather alge green. If the "soup" gets thick enough 1-2 meters is enough to reduce visibility to zero. I've had the displeasure of diving in such conditions.
Only the Dolphins know
Not possible the height to the top of the bow is around 10m and that doesn't include any of the superstructure it also has an 11m beam so even on its side it would stull be visible.
If it was fully loaded with ammo & missiles....and was obliterated in the explosion..ala HMS Hood......main magazine was hit ....all hands lost in minutes....obviously the HMS Hood was in deep sea......but it disintegrated....this Russian ship could be in many pieces and as suggested....rolled on what is left of the side view of the ship???...fingers crossed.
Thanks for your update - always interesting!

I wonder if the missile launch cells are water tight. If the missiles weren't detonated they might be worth recovering if the vessel can be raised off the bottom a few meters, providing it didn't roll as @aib0160 noted below.
