I paint with Holbein Acrylic Gouache on Ampersand Aquabord and I sometimes use color pencils (if my hand is too shaky, I'm older). I have no problem using Prismacolor pencils on the Holbein Acrylic Gouache. I was trained years ago as an illustrator. (Then, years ago, we used plain Gouache. We did not have acrylic gouache available.) Adding some fine details with color pencils, because it was difficult to add layers with regular gouache. Sam Newcomb

Très jolie poésie graphique, peut-être fixer la feuille sur le bureau avec de l'adhésif de peintre afin d'éviter le mouvement et la vibration du papier qui se courbe lorsque vous appliquez la couleur (on y gagne en précision)

i always struggle with backgrounds because i'll mix the paint to get the color i want, but then i'll run out of paint and am no longer able to re-mix the colors perfectly to how i originally did :/
I totally understand what you mean! it happen to me a lot too and what I'm doing is 1) I accept that my color is not uniform everywhere and it add more charm to my illustration. 2) I dilute a lot my paint with water for background work and add layer and layer until I get good coverage. So don't worry it's normal to have this happening.

May I ask what paper you used if its fine?
I use the Canson paper 300gr, but you can use any brand. The most important is to get a thick paper like 300gr and some texture like a paper for watercolor or for acrylic work too ❤️
