  • There are more than 125 caste groups in Nepal but men from only a few caste were recruited in the British Indian Army and similar practice continues to date. This video talks about why and when did the recruitment of people from particular castes start in the Gorkha Rifles Regiment and what exactly is the present scenario.

This is why the Kirati priest should be in charge of the Pashupatinath temple. Lord Shiva is originally the God of the Kirat people.
His original name is Paruhang. He is also known as Kirateshwar Mahadev.
The Pashupatinath temple Nepal has an origin that dates back to the Kirat era.
Nepal's oldest statue (Birupakshya) from Kirati era is inside the Pashupatinath temple. Birupakshya statue was built by Kirati people in ancient times.

One interesting fact about the Pashupatinath temple is that the caretakers and priests are the Indian Brahmins. This tradition of having Indian Brahmins at the Pashupatinath temple was started by the Malla King in the 14th century.
Another fact about Nepal is that there was no Hindu caste system during the Kirat dynasty. The coming of the Licchavis introduced the Hindu caste system in Nepal after they defeated the Kirat.
The Malla King later modified the Hindu Caste System with the help of the Indian Brahmins whom he invited. Ever since the Indian Brahmins were appointed as caretakers and priests of the Pashupatinath temple.
Now we must make changes again. We must let the Kirati priest be in charge of the Pashupatinath temple.

So as a rimal I am khas bramin, and in British gurkha rifles there is a rimal, and I only know this because of force CZcams channel of British military. As he was one of the 4000 or so Gurkha's in britan today. As far as I know mostly it usually warrior caste that take the role in soilder, that being said the word gurkha it self mean protector of cow (Gau rakchak). Being symbolic to protected of motherhood as we drink cow milk and ansestor belng cow herd men , quite famously Gopal dynasty which lived before lichavi and all. That being said the word gurkha has been shortened over time and the proof is the HMS gaurkha and HMS gurkha of the royal navy of britan. This shows the word. As for my family (the rimal) we did have share in war fare such as nuwacoat ( where my ansestor adviced prithivi Narayan Saha a strategy that lead to start of unification as nuwacoat was much stronger. That being said rimal as far as my knowledge don't have that representative as the warrior caste, because the mentality that my grandfather, gather , uncle or brother was a Laure and so I have to be one used to exist (I am not sure if it is still prevelent, but it is also some what expected from the relative and the family for better lifestyle with the salary of the gurkha's. ,

Gorkhali simply means people from Gorkha. Since the name of country changed to Nepal, we are Nepali. Gorkha is now just a district of Nepal. Gorkhali history has nothing to do with India. Kirat's history was never taught in Nepal school fully. Though the Nepali history class mentioned about Kirat, the book always stop it by saying "Not much is known about them" and goes on to Licchavis era, Thakuri era, Malla era and finally Shah and Rana era. Licchavis, Thakuri, Malla, Shah and Rana history are mentioned the most in Nepal's history

@1:55 Indigenous(Janajatis) people of Nepal ...and yes these Indigenous people of Nepal follow animism and shamanism @2:13
    Now let me explain.
Yes, the majority of the Gorkhas in the British and Indian army come from this Indigenous(Janajatis) group. They are namely the Rai, the Limbu, the Magar, the Gurung, the Sunuwar, and the Tamang ethnic groups. Yes, they are Mongolian-looking because they are Sino-Tibetan people.
The Sino-Tibetan people are also known as the Kiratas in ancient time......and now coming back to animism and shamanism, Maha Kali and Lord Shiva is God of the Kirat people. Both Lord Shiva and Maha kali has been linked to the animistic and shamanistic religions of the Kirat people.
Kiratis formed the backbone of the Gurkha regiments both in the Indian and British Army.
Again Kirat people are Sino-Tibetan people and they comprise the Rai, the Limbu, the Magar, the Gurung, the Sunuwar, and the Tamang community who formed the backbone of this illustrious fighting force the World knows about.

@@lastgentleman8185 It is now known that Jirels is one of the many Kirati descendants. Jirels are branches of ancient Kirat people.
Now how did the Kirat people got divided into so many smaller groups?
The answer is due to the invasion of Licchavis. In the 3rd century, the Kiratis in Kathmandu valley were attacked by the Licchavis who came from northern India. The Kiratis were defeated and Licchavis took over the power in Kathmandu. The defeated Kiratis moved out of the Kathmandu valley and resettle elsewhere.
When the Kiratis started moving out of the Kathmandu valley, the separation of Kiratis started. Kiratis disintegrated into many small groups as Kiratis took a different route to find their new homes. The Kirati people who settled in the Jiri regions of Dolaka District became what is today known as Jirel, having taken the name from the Jiri.
Those Kiratis who stayed behind or left behind in the Kathmandu valley became part of Newar today.
Journal of Newar studies (Newah Vijnana) states that among the Newar people, Jyapus are Kiratis who were left behind in the Kathmandu valley.
Mali, Maharjan, Dangol, Awale, Suwal, Duwal, Singh, Prajapatis are some of the Jyapus who are identified to be the descendants of the Kirat dynasty.

This shows that Kiratis(sino-tibetan) people had no idea about the caste system which is so prevalent in Hindu society.
In short, there was no Hindu caste system in ancient Nepal or the territories inhabited by the Kiratis.
The Vishnu Purana also gave the territorial regions of Kiratis often label as Kiratdesh.
From Kashmir to Arunachal Pardesh, all Himalayas areas were reference as Kiratdesh. During that time, all the yellow people(Sino-Tibetan) living in the Kiratdesh were called Kiratis by the Aryan people.

Brahminbadis are the High Caste Hindus(namely the Brahmins and Chettris) who have ruled Nepal since the Hindu King prithvi narayan came to the power.
these two groups of Nepal, have ruled Nepal using the Hindu caste system @1:35.
The Brahmin and Kshatriya(chettri) have excluded the Indigenous(Janajatis) ethnicities from the political powers.
Even today, 90% of government jobs and positions are filled up with Brahmin and Chettri people only.
It's the same case for the Nepal army and police.
There is so much inequality in Nepal because of the Hindu caste system and because of the Brahminbadi leaders.
