    There's nothing I love more than walking round someone elses garden/allotment - and having a wee nosy at how their plants are doing - even better when I can sit here and be 'taken round' whilst sipping on a cuppa! 😁

    As per other comments here, I also love a garden tour. Learn so much from them when healthy plants are pointed out, pest issues, struggles, achievements. Weather, tips, etc. Helps the viewers to praise, learn and commiserate just as much as how-to’s.

      @@simplifygardening I really did, Tony!!! I’m in awe of your compost setup; I know it was hard work getting it established for this year when you uploaded a video moving all that free stuff that was delivered. I couldn’t have done it. So sorry about the chickens.
      Everything looks beautiful and tidy. The soft fruit! Wow!
      The potato database will be incredibly useful for your viewers. There’s barely any useful information for gardeners re determinates, etc. My word, you must’ve put your heart and soul into it!!! You are such a star!

I am going to install a drip system but will have to be connected to our mains no way to collect water as garden is too small and on a hill. Take care and enjoy the fruits of your labour.

    Thank you for the garden tourTony, garden still looking great, okay there’s a few things yet to do, we are all like that.
    Sorry about the chickens, damn foxes, hope you can redo the chicken coop to protect the new flock when you get them, I’m sure you’re missing the fresh eggs.
    Just to add hope the garlic was a good harvest for you.
    It’s been raining so much in Sydney Australia 🇦🇺 so no need to water the garden, mostly onion and garlic with a few odd things like potatoes and carrots, if I do need to water it just use the captured rain water, but it’s hard getting things done when it’s so wet.😁

    Nice to have you back! I missed your channel videos. Definitely you have plants with needs well met! Do the cherry trees shade the onions? They like full sunlight. Nodding onion grows in the forest, I want to try that one. Perennial tree collards would help provide a wind break. Your rhubarb looks really big and needing to be divided. They would do well under the cherry tree as long as it's away from the tree roots. Have you tried skirret? It's another perennial and I'm really excited about this plant since it creates usually around 5-15 offsets per plant in the first year under ideal growing conditions and is pretty much disease free and bug resistant and delicious. Of course it's quite delicious to voles also. Your garden looks great. Your corn is a bit slow perhaps you should give them nitrogen, or plant beans which are nitrogen fixers... Great tour thanks your very good keeping the weeds away! I let the only 2 weeds grow: amaranth and pigweed since they are delicious choice edibles. Great boiled up, much better than spinach, kale or any other boiled green in my opinion. But that's just my opinion, thats just me. Your tastes may differ. :)

Sadly, he passed away unexpectedly in January & I'm going to be living on beans for months, as I harvested 45kg (including pods) from that one bed & so far, I've blanched & frozen 8kg of actual beans & there's probably another 5kg yet to do.

    Amazing work, great to see you seeing enjoying the fruits of your labour! May I ask when did you plant your garlic? We're in the same region as you, and planted a spring variety in early April, the stems have grow big but I'm not sure if we should dig them up yet? Some leaves are yellowing a bit, mostly at the tip. We test dug one and it seemed a little small 😂 more of a bulb than cloves. No scales yet either, which we've been looking forward to tasting. Appreciate your advice. Keep up the fantastic work, very inspiring!

    Love your hard work and expertise, and sorry about your chicken loss. Chicken wire is made only to keep chickens in, not keep out predators. You need welded wire mesh for that, including under the fence line where they like to burrow and on the 'roof'. Lost count how many times we've found many cats on our racing pigeon coop roofs, and had several hawks try to smash into the wire mesh unsuccessfully. Our coops average 8 to 10 ft tall and we're not sure how cats get onto the roofs but a swipe with a broom gets them off fast.

      @simplifygardening  Před 17 dny

      I didn’t bother with anything more than chicken wire because we have high fences and we had never seen a fox on site.nature showed me otherwise though

      no they are microscopic worms that bore into slugs and hunt them, they prevent the slug feeding and they die. i have a video on it I talk more about it in this video. czcams.com/video/6R7LkDigfDc/video.html

Praying for a few weeks of dry weather - please, it’s been a very bad summer so far. Usually everything is in by the end May bank holiday (last frost date here) but we are about 4 weeks behind 🫣
