I can’t handle it when the pups rest their heads on Lee’s shoulder in complete trust and love. Lee is a gift to this world. We need more people like Lee.
The world would be a much better place if they were more like Lee. It brought a tear to my eyes when he just rested his head like that. After being in a shelter, then a rescue place. Then the long drive to get to Lee and that cute little guy still has trust. Just goes to show how truly loving Lee is and the majority of his rescues seem to know it right off. It's a beautiful thing.

A shar Pei! Can’t believe he’s from a shelter. It shows that you can adopt any breed you want. These babies need a loving home.
Whoever gave up this little guy probably paid a lot. A blue purebred Sharpei is extremely rare. Very happy for him to have found a forever home now.
@iddaalbar2129 I ALWAYS say this same thing!!! There are breed specific rescues if you absolutely MUST have a specific breed. ALWAYS ADOPT!!! Do the research. Don't line a breeder's pocket, or God forbid, a pet shop.

I don’t understand how you can kill a healthy dog? Thanks to the Asher house and all the volunteers everywhere for helping all these dogs
It happens every single day. Plus this baby also needed expensive eye surgery that no kill shelter is going to use limited funds for that. Either the rescue or Asher house sponsored his surgery and he is now fixed and can live a full life! So sad that correctible medical conditions lead to euthanasia but even dogs with zero medical conditions never leave kill shelters.
Heartbreaking that this country hasn't been able to reverse the over population of unwanted pets. Every rescue pet for decades is neutered or spayed so its a smaller number of careless owners or deliberate breeders causing the gigantic problem.
The reason is heartbreakingly simple. There are quite literally not enough homes for them all. This is why it's SO VERY IMPORTANT to spay/neuter your dogs & cats, not allow them to breed litters of babies. This is why it's SO VERY IMPORTANT not to buy a pet from a pet store or Craiglister or parking lot approacher or any other sketchy seller, because every time you do, you are creating a market for puppies/kittens, and increasing the likelihood that the people seeking to profit from indiscriminate animal breeding will keep doing it. Way better option is to adopt from a legit shelter (did you know it's estimated that at least 25% of adoptable dogs in shelters are purebreds??) or a licensed breed rescue group. If you prefer to go to a breeder to buy a puppy, well then do your research. That breeder should be a GOOD one. There are a few out there. Good breeders don't just hand over a puppy to the first person with money. They're selective, they check you out, they make you sign certain agreements, some will want to inspect the home environment where the dog will live out its life. They will be honest and forthright about any health or behavioral issues the pup may have, so you know what you are getting into. They will breed infrequently, because they know overbreeding of their bitches is not a good thing. They will use a variety of sires so that they are creating a more diverse gene pool, for overall better health in subsequent generations. They should have no objections to your visiting and observing their own home, where they are breeding these animals, so you can see what environment the breeding pair and pups are living in. And they should be actively seeking to breed out bad physical and behavioral traits, and breed in good ones. Not just breeding for cuteness. They should not be breeding for freakishly abnormal size, wither small ("teacup' is marketing bullshite and doesn't exist naturally for a reason, it's unhealthy!) or large (these "XL" bullies and other breeds are plagued with skeletal issues, joint problems, sometimes heart probs, because they have been bred by profiteering humans to be abnormally big, and it's unhealthy!) Please adopt, don't shop. And do your due diligence. That's how you help stop the many hundreds of thousands of perfectly normal, healthy, adoptable dogs and cats that get put to death in America each year, simply because there are not enough homes for them all. People simply dump their dogs and cats at kill shelters for various reasons. I can’t stand the people who are moving and the day before the moving van shows up they dump their dog at the kill shelter. Or the stupid ones that destroy a puppy by never taking it to puppy school, socialize them. Then they get sick of them and blame the dog at 2,years old it doesn’t know anything. Or the people who have no time for their pet anymore.

My daughter works at a warehouse and 4 kittens with eyes closed were dumped off at her work by a truck driver. So glad good people rescue these innocent little souls.

If the perfect family comes along he'd get a lot of attention. Lee has to be seriously stretched for attention. One day, Lee can be down to a dozen dogs but every dog needs a loving family to belong to.

It’s beautiful to see and know the dogs are saved and safe, facing a great life! Lee turns into a kid when he’s saving a dog like Fonzie, who I assume will not be up for adoption. Almost as sweet as the pups.

Right after Maeve left us, Lee was gifted, by the universe, Matilda. She has neurological issues just like Maeve.

We adopted a Sharpei Pit mix that was dumped pregnant out in the middle of nowhere. Fortunately a good person found her and took her into our vet. She gave born to 9 puppies that were eventually adopted out but she was so scared of people no one was willing to take her but we made the decision to adopt her and she blossomed. She was 2 yrs old at the time and we had her another 12 yrs until she passed away from cancer. We were so blessed to be loved by her unconditionally.

I’ve had Shar Peis for a few years now. I lost my baby Yasha with cancer last year, she was a blue like Fonzie but we kept one of her pups he’s called Murphy and he’s a lilac. They are very protective of their owners but not aggressive - he is so beautiful and will mix wonderfully with all your other fur babies 🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾

I absolutely love Shar peis! I've had 2 and adored them! They are a little standoffish but do cuddle. And they have a specific scent that I grew to love! Just sniff him all the time!
Fonzie looks like my sharpae, Seymore , same color and velvet face, passed away 19 years ago, I just loved him. Thank you for loving fur babies.

Lee, my SharPei was my heart. He was so sweet and silly and loaded with wrinkles. I called him PeiPei.
These great dogs get an autoimmune disease from just bad breeding, though they are susceptible to it anyway. Its commonly called swollen hock or Shar Pei fever. The signs of it appearing are swelling in the face and lower legs along with a fever. The vet can help advise. Not every Shar Pei gets it, mine did. It's chronic and can be managed, but boy, was my Pei worth every second he drew breath. I miss the heck out of him. I hope Fonzie is with you and healthy for a long, long time 💕

I am so happy when Lee is in love with a new dog. Plus, when the dogs are so cuddly and trusting. I know Fonzie trusted him immediately. Dogs just know when a human can be trusted. And, also when they cannot! My dogs have all really been 4 legged Angels !
