So well said Andy, 9 out of 10 carb faults are electrical, in my experience too. You do have an alternative to this problem. Fit an additional cylinder assembly
Both my 600 monsters and 750ss suffered from this.
Reversing the polarity on the one that’s duff seemed to work. Weird but it did the job
Sounds great for a Harley. Grounds will also bite you, intermittent or occasional ones. There is an actual reason why vehicle electrical engineers can't charge you for their whole time, each problem can be a learning experience, so the good ones will take that for what it is, and charge you accordingly.
What a bugger to have to drain your oil to check the electricals.
With molex connectors, according to the size, you could knock one up yourself, and it is much easier dealing with plug issues.
Sounds nice Andy, great fault finding method.
The older you get the thinner your skin gets, knuckle scrapes seem to bleed longer 🤕.

Hi Andy, something I noticed while watching your enjoyable video.
Something you may or may not be aware of. These dukes and the newer terblanch one's, is the fuel tanks have a weak area by the hinge point, they start leaking. May I suggest remove the tank, pull the hinge pivots disconnect and remove. These tanks in good condition are rare. This is my experience.

Recently i swap the stator in my 620 ,,first tought it was the rectifier that did not alowed to charge then i tested the stator and it mesured quite some hi voltage 21volt but my mesures were wrong it was toastead in one fase and had to be rewinded, rectifier was ok after all

Coincidentally my pick up failed recently on my 94 900 monster. It would intermittently work when warm.

Great video! I have a 2000 Cagiva Gran Canyon, mine doesn't have pick up coils, it has a crank position sensor. I am having a similar issue, my bike runs ok at low revs, but when I roll in to it, it is hitting on one cylinder. I am now starting to throw parts at it. Initially I thought TPS, but have re set it twice ( by millivolts 150 closed, then throttle stop screw out to 404 mv), changed it out with a spare. Same, hitting on one above 5K rpms, next I'm trying coils, (although they test ok cold per ohms) thinking possible intermittent failure at speed (and temp) Any thoughts?
Seriously Andy, in some instances, if a link varies in resistance, between high and 20 Ohms, it is still worth a shot. Lectrics are to make fools of us all. Their reason to exist is to make you spend money.

I have a similar issue but when checking the front cylinder for spark it was present. what could it be?

It was due for a change. Not sure how much actually needed to be drained.

Andy, What are you using for your gasket seal? I've seen aftermarket gaskets for sale on eBay and might give it a try. I don't have an ignition problem just a
leaky cover. Thanks, and thanks for posting these videos.
Three Bond, no gasket required.
I can't stand gasket seal, l use gaskets from California Cycle Works, dead simple, no mess and work great.
Hi Andy. Want to ask your help. I have a 1982 suzuki gsx1000sz (the homologation model). I have had the carbs off to check them, but struggling to find a good video showing how to set up the Mikini VM32 ss. It looks like some other bikes have these type of carbs fitted. an you suggest a publication (all ones I look at seem to only show the rubber diaphragm type). or a youtube video showing setting and balancing these types of carbs?
