    The Lectric XPedition cargo electric bike is a popular option that offers 1300w peak output with a geared hub motor. The dual batteries, each of which are 48v and 14ah, power the motor which is strong enough to carry two adults with ease, and even haul us both up the 20% grade hill test with a bit of pedaling and a roll out. Various cargo ebike attachments for the Lectric XPedition are available through the official link above.
    The lack of front suspension and the accumulating cost of accessories are a few of the drawbacks of this electric cargo bike, but all around it is a solid performer at a reasonable price.

    How's this for customer service and backing your product.......Early July I bought a Lectric 3.0 from a gentleman on Craigslist with ONE mile on it. His medical situation changed before he had a chance to ride this bike. It was pristine. I put it on my rear carrier and took off from Scottsdale for a 2 month adventure. Bent the handlebars, broke the left brake handle and crushed the controller on the second day on a rough road north of the Grand Canyon. Could not ride it all summer - so MAD at myself for poorly stowing my new bike. Totally my fault. Got back early September and took it in to Lectric Bikes and to my amazement - THEY REPLACED EVERY PART AND WOULD NOT TAKE PAYMENT FROM ME!!!!!!! All the parts were FREE. I did the repairs and I'm riding it today. Thank you, Lectric Bikes.

    If your rides are along fairly flat terrain, you can eke out more miles if you unlock the speed caps on PAS levels 1 & 2, so you pull only 4 or 10A. I find PAS 2 is usually sufficient to roll out from a stop and PAS 1 is enough to help me get to and sustain 16-18mph on flat roads when there’s only a light breeze.
    When setting P22 is set to 0, PAS 1 stops motor assistance at 9mph and PAS 2 at 15mph. Set P22 to 1 and PAS 1 & 2 follow the overall assisted speed cap controlled by P08.

    Best e bike reviews on the internet!! Your objective testing methodology is really useful to viewers. Every bike goes up the hill, runs at top speed, does a timed acceleration and takes a trip in the sand and a test of the brakes. Looks like a great cargo bike but I can’t believe they didn’t include a suspension fork, particularly with narrower tires.

    Thank you for your reviews. I have watched a wack load of videos whilst researching ebikes. Most tend to either spew out the brochure or are cringingly negative. It is rather difficult to trust a lot of CZcams folks presently. Admittedly I have a winter to go through before pulling the trigger, but I feel comfortable with the information you provide. I feel I'll get a decent bang for the buck.
    Thanks again bud. Solid channel.

  • @foremanhaste5464
    @foremanhaste5464 Před 9 měsíci +12

    I bought one of these 1 day before the video became available. I had been split between Velotric Packer and this bike. The main differences I found between the two was that Packer has the combo lock frame bag, had plastic fenders rather than metal, and was $600 more expensive after discounting for the extra battery. I don't know that plastic vs metal fenders are that big of a deal as plastic are more likely to break in cold temperatures, but metal can rust. Packer's combo lock bag is neat, but I didn't think it was necessary. I ended up picking this bike as I thought that Velotric's internal controller might become a pain if I ever had to work on it and I couldn't find a reason to spend an extra $600. Also, I really liked Lectric's XL Cargo 'saddle bags.' It is likely they could fit on the Packer, but that was just an extra risk to take.
    Your criticism of the lack of suspension does make me double guess my decision. I had not realized that Packer had the suspension and XPedition didn't. I also think that the XPedition is the only bike I have seen that the taillight is not a break light. This is extremely disappointing.
    -I will try to update after it arrives, and I can try it out.- Update: after 2 weeks of using this bike as my commuter while having the option to pick up groceries on the way home, I found that my gut feeling that the suspension should have been a deal breaker have been proven true. You really don't grasp just how bumpy roads are until you bike them without a suspension. I have also found the handlebars / folding stem to be 'sloppy' as it feels like the handlebars or going to disconnect at any time. As long as quality holds, I would bet that the AIPAS A6 is superior to this bike in every way while being nearly the same bike. While I buy no means feel that the Xpedition is a bad product, it is clear that Lectric has spent to much money on advertisements and not enough on the product.
    Thank you for all the reviews, they greatly helped me know what it is that I wanted from an Ebike.
    BTW, has anyone ever seen an E-bike with Dutch style handlebars before? They are the kind that has hand grips are nearly parallel to the frame rather than perpendicular.

    They are now saying you should use both hands for signaling..Use your right hand to signal a right turn. They say using the left hand is confusing now.
    The only reason why all signaling was done from the left hand was because car drivers only had that side of their vehicle to signal before they invented turn signals.

    • @foremanhaste5464
      @foremanhaste5464 Před 9 měsíci +4

      If you are signaling with your right arm, your body could block line of sight of your arm as the majority of road users will be on your left as you should be riding in the right most of the right lane. Problem is, not many motor vehicle drivers have any clue what the hand gestures even mean.

    I replaced welgo folding pedals (got loose from too much off road pedal strikes) with similar ones as these. Much lighter, sturdier, grippier. You can avoid stabbing yourself by taking them off.
    This is a very good bike if you can store it. Hauling kids is typical. Good for working/all day riding in city. Good potential for touring as price makes it worth upgrading: suspension fork, bigger/offroad tires, grips (downside of half throttles is bad grips. Not sure if they are upgradable). Unclear if suspension seatpost can fit. Its a great base to build up the bike you need/want.

      You can fit a set of locking Ergon grips designed to work with twist shifters. I think you can buy them as right-hand, left-hand or both hands shorty grips. One of my friends who also has an XPedition upgraded to them as her friction grips spun so easily (and she’s a light person). My stock grips hold on more tightly but when they start to spin too freely, I will be getting an Ergon set.

    9:26 it does look to be a very effective chain tensioner that has the added bonus affect the chain up and out of the way allowing for more ground clearance and I've never seen a chain tensioner like that before.

    The reason there are two telescopes on the seat post is so that you can have one setting and then your partner can extend it higher on top of your setting. It’s not just adapting the tube width.

    Rather than talking non stop about how fast the bike can go. Talk about the Tannus tube / tire liners. Going out without these liners is suicide. It’s
    Only a matter of time before your number comes up. I know, there’s riders out there that say they have been using this bike for years with no
    Flats. For me it’s called INSURANCE.
    Buy these liners as soon as you can. If $$$ is a problem. Opt for one battery for now. Get the second battery later. Speaking from experience
    Having ridden a road bike when I was ten yrs. Old in Sydney AU. 1961. I’ve patched my share of tubes. You DO not want to be out for the day
    And realize. The tyre is flat. I own this bike with two batteries. Trust me, you’re not cheating with an e-bike. You will love it.

    There sure is a lot of flat terrain where you're riding. Great environment for hub drive ebikes. Amazing value for the money! I was looking for an electric cargo bike but the cheapest one at my local ebike shop starts at $4,000 and goes up to $10,000. And because the bikes are from Europe, their max power is only 300W. I'll have to take a look at this one. I only wish it was mid drive with a torque sensor because I live in a hilly city where hub drive motors come to die. And I can probably deal with the rigid suspension since I've been riding non suspension mountain bikes since the 80's.

    I am desperate for an Ebike, but I do weigh just under 400lbs, I walk 1.5 miles to the bus to get to work, but I work late and forced to take a $10 taxi home each night, also on sundays there is no bus so I must spend more on a taxi. It can add up to $320-350 per month. This bike is on sale and since I made the decision to buy an ebike 2 weeks ago I have been hustling on my side job of selling vinyl records online and I am sure I will have the $1400 needed in the next 2 days before the sale ends. The one thing that scares me is, will this move me? I have 2 hills I need to over come to get to work, well one is a bridge, and the other is a steep hill but I only need to climb the bottom portion before I can turn, but would be nice to go all the way up it since I can access more stores and a lake to go fishing. Im about to spend $1400 and this is big risk for me, with my size, the hills, and if this goes bad Id have to sell at a loss. If it works it could allow me so much freedom, I want to get out and enjoy this summer nt be trapped worrying every where I need to go will cost me $20 round trip in a taxi.

    With a 230 lb guy (me) what’s the range in throttle only mode? I do understand hills, terrain etc will have an effect.

    • @chow-chihuang4903
      @chow-chihuang4903 Před 2 měsíci

      With full-power throttle (PAS 5 as the throttle is tied to the current limit of PAS levels), expect 15-20mi per battery on flat terrain, as with any similar 750W nominal, 68lb (one battery) e-bike equipped with a 14Ah battery.
      You can get more range if you throttle in a lower PAS, as they send 4, 10, 14, 20 or 25 amps to the motor. Multiply amps by reported battery voltage to calculate power supplied to the motor. Be sure to remove the special speed caps for PAS 1 & 2 (9, 15mph respectively) so you can use them up the the system assisted speed cap (20 for throttle, 20 or 28 for pedal assist). I find 2 is usually enough to roll out from a stop, and 1 is enough to help me pedal at 16-18mph on flat terrain under low wind conditions.

    • @chow-chihuang4903

      So far so good after a year. You have to be sure they are fully inserted and the release sleeves are fully retracted to their resting position. I just lubricated the pedals and release mechanisms so they don’t bind.
      I either take them with me or lock them to the bike with a thick cable to discourage prank thefts by those who know. Ditto the seatpost. I’ve had a seatpost stolen before. It was obviously a prank as they didn’t take anything else and it was a cheap post and saddle.

    I'm a little concerned about those handlebars. I'm 6' tall, but with a 6' 2" arm span. It seems the only way to push those handlebars forward is to also lower them down. So, I'm afraid I wouldn't be able to get them high enough without them practically being close enough to whack my knees on them.

    I think all those staples are a strategy to make the bike un-returnable!
    Nice to see that the batteries are SGS certified!
    Regarding the charge state of the batteries as shipped, that is a shipping requirement for them to not be too high. It reduces the severity of any fires that may occur during shipping.
    The chargers are cheap and nasty and will take forever, but at least they are UL Listed!
    Those seat pads are going to get stolen immediately.
    Read up on percentage grades a little bit. That looks like a 20° slope, not 20% grade.

      It is more nicely finished, has a suspension fork, dropper post, integrated brake lights and uses a torque sensor.
      But the speed cap of 20mph is too limiting for use in my area with its poor cycling infrastructure. 28mph feels a bit safer than 20mph when I have to ride in traffic going 35-50+ mph.
      But if you have good to great infrastructure, yeah, I’d go with the Abound. Torque sensor e-bikes are wonderful.

    4:39 Are all of these Lectric branded items actually proprietary Lectric branded items or are they re-branded to appear like they are by a Chinese Factory worker (who doesn't give a damn what he's doing as long as he's getting paid) with identical "branded" items with different logos for many different alleged e-bike manufacturers who are in fact just resellers with an option for the appearance of proprietary branding (that only goes Re-Skin Deep)?

    • @chow-chihuang4903
      @chow-chihuang4903 Před 4 měsíci

      A China-based OEM makes them, but what Lectric offers is warranty and support, which has been stellar thus far for my friends who own 2 XP 2.0s and an XPedition. I’ve yet to use them for my XPedition as I fixed the issues I discovered myself. There are many similarly structured brands that fall flat on the support side.
      Part of the low price is you will find quality issues with some features, though most don’t affect function. For example, on my XPedition, the bottle cage mounts are off-center, as are the ones for one of the battery mounts. Holes on one of the running boards were misaligned to the ones on the frame. Both brake calipers had pads hanging off the edge of the rotors.
      That one presents a safety issue (same friend had the pads ejected from the rear caliper once enough material wore away and the edge of the rotor caught the unworn material), but I ground down the spacers to get the pads to fully bear on the rotors. That one seems more a design or last-minute component change than a manufacturing execution issue.

    I'd like to share my thoughts on the Luckeep X1 e-bike, which was released in June of this year. Priced at only $899, this bike offers incredible performance, boasting features such as turn signals, brake lights, cruise control, a horn, anti-theft alarm, and more. Equipped with a 15Ah battery, hydraulic brakes, and a maximum speed of 30mph for the throttle mode, it also comes with a mobile app for iPhone users. The combination of these features makes it an outstanding choice in terms of both functionality and affordability.

The company founder mentioned in an interview they really pushed for fully assembled because their target market ( first time buyers with zero assembly experience). Also Lectrics first bike, the XP 1.0 did not have suspension, which they added for the 2.0. Thus maybe Xpedition 2.0 will have suspension.
