Mazda 2 Facelift 2020: Ulu Yam Run. I'd choose it just for the 6-Speed Auto and Paddle Shifters.

  • The Mazda 2 is possibly the most fun car to drive, built with Jinba Ittai technology, to get you to be as one with the car. I would choose this car just for its 6-speed auto that also comes with a Sport Mode and Paddle Shifters.
    Listen to the roar of the engine as we scale the mountain, and see how this little fella eats up the corners.
    High smile ratio, this!

  • @wenpeter2993
    @wenpeter2993 Před 4 lety

    Hi Uncle Khong , after watching this video... I have a question .... When we shift down the gear in our automatic tranmission car ... we need to do rev matching ? Or we just let the car do what they can do ?

    • @YSKhongDriving
      @YSKhongDriving  Před 4 lety

      We just let the car do it. There is no rev matching: I just step on the ACC pedal so the rev goes up to match the gear speed. For cornering, we shift down to put the car into positive traction around the corner by accelerating, and to exit under acceleration. All the slowing down is done primarily by the brakes as we approach the corner. Some gear boxes do have rev matching, like VW, Renault, Honda and some of the more expensive DCT boxes. Same as the new Hyundai I30n that we tested.

    • @YSKhongDriving

      Yes. Throttle pressure depends on the situation though. If you can take a good line, you are straightening out before the apex and accelerating out in a straight line.

    Great video, I have a question about my hand position on the steering wheel, on the tighter corners, when I turn the wheel 180 degrees, my hands are crossed. As I don't change my hand positions on the steering wheel. That's how I was taught to drive. I see you change your hand position all the time, is that so you leave yourself extra input if the car understeers?
    Thanks!

    • @YSKhongDriving
      @YSKhongDriving  Před 2 lety +1

      You are absolutely right. I am using the push- pull technique taught in British style. The German style is hand over hand, which I assume you have been taught. However I think you may have missed one important step - when your hands are nearly crossed, you are supposed to lift one hand over the other hand and take up a new position so that you are not crossed up Your instrictor dis not do a complete job. There are many videos explaining both methods on the internet.

I would say Mazda 2 is faster in acceleration and Jazz is slightly faster in high speed as the i-vtec engine will start doing the work when it reached 5k rpm above. I had tested this for so long and I'm sure that the i-vtec does exist rather than marketing gimmick, but i was abit regret about not going with Mazda 2, just like Uncle said he would choose the mazda 2 because of 6 speed and paddle shifter, it is way better than CVT on the Jazz for sure. Just more fun to drive and the sound of gear changing is alot better too though the Jazz does have paddle shift with V spec model, still no way close as traditional gearbox.

      The CVT acceleration is also quite good, just that some people are not used to the constant high rev and the speed catching up with the engine sound.
      The 2 cars would be similar in performance. However the hatch handling would be slightly better just because of the weight distribution. You can only tell the difference at the limits so for R the ordinary folk, they are the same. The Honda engine tech is quite good, but the tuning is more towards economy.

      Oh, no worries - yr consumption depends very much on your driving style. Most people get decent fuel consumption when they drive normally. Any car that is pushed hard will consume more. I don't know how much kml you are getting; is is an expectation not met? Or perhaps something is not right with your car?
