    I just bought an 88 power wagon with the 5.9 v8 to restore/build and the only downside is the mpg- about 12

      Cody Spaulding Which is only 1 or 2 MPG shy of what I get in my 2018 so don't let that bother you.

    The engine feels like it's just enough for the truck? The damn thing moves out considering it's weight!

  • @bdoleza
    @bdoleza Před 7 lety +2

    You won't hear me say this very often...but I think you would actually be better off getting a Jeep Rubicon. The only thing you would lose is the hauling capability of a truck. Of course if you have the money to pay $52-57k for the truck, for the gas at 12-16 mpg, and for tire replacement of 33-inch tires...not to mention any repair costs that might come up...I dunno, can you say maxed-out F350 King Ranch? At least then you'd get a better transmission than a crappy 6-speed.

    • @WilliamStewart1
      @WilliamStewart1 Před 6 lety

      bdoleza A jeep isn't capable of what I need from my 2018 Power Wagon. I'd love to see a Jeep pull a tandem axle deck over with 10,000lbs + of hardwood out of the bush. An F350 king ranch has no business being in the bush where I go either, they have a big heavy diesel over the front axle, don't have the articulation to get over logs and creeks, don't have locking diffs, don't have the ground clearance, and don't have the winch.

    • @WilliamStewart1
      @WilliamStewart1 Před 6 lety +2

      Cromwell Co A big heavy cummins doesn't work with this application, you wouldn't be able to tow anymore (actually less), your adding 1000lbs over the front which is horrible, and you lose the winch. All negatives in my opinion, factor in the extra 10 grand you'd have to spend and it's literally all negatives. Diesels belong on the road pulling, not doing this.

    • @paulg444
      @paulg444 Před 6 lety

      Good points, but to be accurate the front end weight difference is about 500lbs as 6.4Hemi weighs about 500lbs and the 6.7 Cummins weighs about 1000lbs. Certainly enough to validate your point but not a 1000lb difference. Good point about the winch, I will have to install an aftermarket bumper. Oh well.

    • @cromwellco8085
      @cromwellco8085 Před 6 lety +1

      It doesnt have to be that big of a displacement. They could offer a 3.0 liter diesel turbo. They should offer it as an option. Not everyone needs to tow.

    Great review had a 2016 Ford F150 Lariat my first truck ever very nice. I've owned quite a few Dodges and love them so this a very nice truck. All that's missing is a Hellcat engine and now you're talking! :D (I hear they are working on a Hellcat truck.) Or once purchased send it here, get the 392 bored out to 448 for ~$5.2K and have nearly 650 HP. :D Link: www.shophemi.com/c-1122-64-hemi-based-short-block-392-and-up.aspx

    How does the front handle all that weight, 12,000# is heavy. Why even put such a heavy winch up front? If it's that heavy (12,000#), they should put it in the bed.

    • @1234567890ZETA
      @1234567890ZETA Před 7 lety +8

      The 12,000lbs pertains to the pulling capacity of the winch it is that strong. I know it because I drive one.

    • @melkoons7964

      It's for pulling fords out of the mud.

    • @WilliamStewart1
      @WilliamStewart1 Před 6 lety +2

      Don Kingery It handles it more than fine, you have to remember that while yes the truck itself is only 7500lbs, when buried in the mud they have a lot more drag and need the 12,000lbs of pulling force to get them or other trucks out. Make sure you get the dual alternators though, so I happy I did.

    • @THeSPARTEnMORTER21
      @THeSPARTEnMORTER21 Před 5 lety

      ive heard to have a winch properly fitted to your truck/suv it should be able to pull 1.5 times the weight of the truck. ive seen 4runners with winches around 6-8k lbs, so it makes sense that this 7k lb truck has a winch that can pull 12k lbs.

  • @ramtrucks3518

      Ivan Vojt Get a Rebel then, this a heavy duty truck. This is supposed to be heavy and rugged. I for sure wouldn't change a thing on these other than the transmission, the 66 needs to go and the 8 speed needs to be brought in.

    In U.S and I have this said by a couple American friends I have people buy these cars as their daily driver which is totally irrational. There is a reason why no one else buys them in other countries.

    • @WilliamStewart1

      Krisian Zavalani It's irrational if you can't afford to do it sure, if you can then what's the issue?

      I have a 2007 Dodge 1500, regular cab, short bed with the 4.7l engine. This new PW gets the same highway mileage. This new truck with far more weight and capability, gets the same mileage as my "small" pickup! Pretty impressive, if you ask me. ;)

    • @nathanthomas7475
      @nathanthomas7475 Před 5 lety

      Ahmad Shinawi they are built for different tasks raptor is for dunes literally that’s it the power wagon can climb rocks, and dunes it’s more of a tool a raptor is just a big dune buggy power wagon is a work truck capable of other tasks a ford raptor is a neat daily that can go on dunes so both have its perks and flaws

      Krisian Zavalani where are you from, and what do they buy there?

    • @mountainhobo
      @mountainhobo Před 7 lety +2

      @david cho -- Judging from Krisian's last name, probably Albania.

    • @mountainhobo
      @mountainhobo Před 7 lety +4

      Krisian may also be missing the fact that this is a heavy duty (2500) truck, so it makes it rather unique in being able to carry a lot of load, haul a lot, and yet gives you ability to go into fairly serious terrain. If you need that combination, there isn't really anything else available. I don't need it, so I wouldn't buy it, but that does not diminish its utility to others.

    • @bloodysinner9456
      @bloodysinner9456 Před 7 lety +7

      No, they buy this shit to park it at the local mall. Rarely does it get used for its intended purpose. Krisian has a point.

    • @mountainhobo
      @mountainhobo Před 7 lety +4

      They may do that, it is their choice, but Krisian did not make that point, you did. He just asserted it was shit, nothing more.
