  • Today I'm showing you how to make a no sew junk journal binding with single pages and a book cover! This journal doesn't have the typical signature where you fold pages - you just create your single pages (adding as many pockets, tucks and flips as you want!) and then it all binds together using tabs. I'm using printable washi tape tabs, but you could use fabric tabs too!
    AND, I have a freebie for you! To get your free marbled washi tape printable, click here: madpapercrush.com/marbledwashi

    I’ve Seen the tab binding before, but it always seems so complicated, you do an excellent job of walking us through it. It was also very helpful that you pointed out how tight the tape should be and showed the buckling that could potentially result. I’ll put this on my list of journals I want to try! P.S.cute plate! ☺️

    That's pretty cool. Never seen this done before. You could even do clear tape too, so you wouldn't see it as much. But I think those tapes look neat too. It makes a nice vintage art journal!🙂
    I was wondering, would it be possible to add a little glue to the back of the spine where the denim holds the pages together, or would that cause it to not lay flat, when open?🤔

    • @MadPaperCrush
      @MadPaperCrush  Před 2 lety

      Hi! I wondered the same thing, and I do think it may cause the book to not lay as flat. But, if you clamped the pages together somehow and were careful with the glue, it might just hold it together like a glued notepad!

    This is so cool. Loving your work. Silly me. I am not familiar with the label paper, it seems to be clear so your washi tape print out really does look like tape. Is this a common type of printer paper/label paper. What is it called?

    • @MadPaperCrush

      Hi Cassie! It's a common label paper. It's a "full page" clear label. The kind I use is here: amzn.to/3ujwKrF

    I have individual pages that I’ve been hoping to put together in a journal…this method is exactly what I’ve been looking for. One question, though. What are your thoughts on using this method with significantly different thicknesses of pages. I’ve got some individual sheets and others that are are multiple layers thick and fairly stiff. Do you think the thinner papers (notebook paper and scrapbook paper weights) would tear?

    • @MadPaperCrush
      @MadPaperCrush  Před rokem +1

      Hi Tracey! I think if you made sure your tabs were a little looser they would probably be ok. You might want to think of a way to reinforce the edges of those thinner paper though (maybe add some washi tape or fabric to them?).

  • @robinburdette7201
    @robinburdette7201 Před 2 lety

    This is really nifty! I do not understand how you printed the washi tape. It looks clear, as you can see page patterns through it, so you didn’t use like address labels nor large package white labels, correct? Is there an Avery product number, please? And does it work with inkjet, or only laser printers? Thank you so much!

    • @MadPaperCrush
      @MadPaperCrush  Před 10 měsíci

      I'm not sure I totally understand you - but if I was using a full sheet - I would cut it in half, and then put the 2 halves together, just like I was folding the full sheet, so that when the tape went on those pages, they would be side by side and once again look like a whole sheet. I hope that helps!

    • @cathetownsend3304
      @cathetownsend3304 Před 10 měsíci

      Yes that is what I'm wondering! So if I have a whole sheet that would normally fold to make a 'booklet type just cut in half! Great! Tysm!
