Hi everyone! What grade (out of 10) would you give this video?
F
Lol
D... being that close to the MiG (F5), they'd have clipped their tails.
negative 4G dive (out of 10)
Would have been a ten if you got the enemy country right
>gets missile lock
>doesn't leave
>enemy pilot gives him the middle finger
>leaves
Pretty much was like, "Maaaannn, fuck this noise"
That was mig2, he lock on mig2 and he leaves, the last one was mig1, there were 2 migs in total. Watch the clip again.
say what you will... imo, piolt lost to an "f bomb"
Bro got embarassed 💀
"Understandable, have a nice day" ✌
Mig 2 left his wingman...you never ever leave your comrade behind.
They doing it in Ukraine rn
these are russians... they leave "comrades" behind all the time.
I did always wonder about that, he literally just ditched the guy. Gonna be awkward when they get back to base.
Their situation was probably ordered to RTB, but Mig1 didn't give a shit and wanted to give some payback for his buddy.
@@jakeramos5067 Shut up about the Ukraine, it's not funny anymore.
Fun fact, neither this movie or the new Top Gun: Maverick ever actually mention the adversary country. As this movie was right around the end of the Cold War, they never tried making Russia the enemy. But everyone just calls the enemy Russia because it’s easy and it does make sense.
In real world I would never ever underestimate russian pilots And the fun fact is there is no case when american pilots gave the finger to a russian pilots........ american dudes usually prefer to wander off seeing russians on approach
@@misterycloud1962 thats not accurate but ok. Plenty of times when russians were intercepted by american jets. You people give way too much credit to russia
@@DJ-fd4qk No, it is not about giving credits, it's all about being fair
Russian militaries are professionals and its was proven by history
Americans see professional courtesy and ethics of russian pilots as their weakness
And this arrogance is a clear indication that american pilots lack of prof qualities
I witnessed how russians fight in Syria Their pilots are trully proffesional worriors
Oh, man I wouldn't make them angry !!
@@misterycloud1962 Western militaries are professionals and it was proven by history.
Russians see recruitment advertisements that don't emphasise 'manly men' as weakness.
And this arrogance is a clear indication that Russians lack professional qualities.
The whole world is witnessing how the Russians fight in Ukraine. They truly are one of the most unprofessional militaries in the modern world.
Oh man, I wouldn't want to make the West angry.
@@misterycloud1962 thats sounds like complete and utter propaganda LOL. Russians being professional, do you not see how they're soldiers are comitting war crimes in Ukraine right now?
I just find it funny that he has the camera with him. Like I could imagine this being the only scenario where he use the camera.
LMAO
Might fly over during sunset there’s a lot of photo opportunities tbh
Bringing your camera was like bringing your cell phone to places with you in the 80´s.
I believe the purpose of the camera is in case the aircraft ever gets in a situation where having it for surveillance purposes would be beneficial.
Fun fact: The person that played the mig pilot actually smiled
When goose took a picture

Mig-28 pilot seeing Mav flip him off: man I just wanted to say hi, fuck this I’m going home 😢
“This is why we can’t have international peace 😢”
poor mig :(
No such thing as MIG 28
@@thetruthisoutthereofficial you’re absolutely right. But in the movie, the enemy fighter jets are referred to as Mig-28s when in actuality they are F-5s. Thanks for correcting me with your amazing infinite knowledge
Cougar requested permission to shoot back😂 while he can’t even shake off the MiG.
he probably means flares you never see in the film
@@Yes_im.a-lordpeacock yea shoot back flares, the flares that cant even damage your enemy
Well you forget that maverick the 2 f14 was there with him so if he asked if he allwoed to shoot back and they get a yes the f14 behind can open up fire .
@@Deadtrigger24 stop you're embarrassing yourself. No one requests permission for others to shoot. You are only responsible for yourself. Bro thinks the army works like a grade school 💀
@@Yes_im.a-lordpeacock why cant you admit it was a writing mistake?
Love it when people are like "Obviously they were Russians, they were flying MiGs". Ummmm you know other countries have MiGs? Just like other countries have F-16s?
Ironically, there's a nation from whom the Indian Ocean is named after that have used MiGs since the 1960's. 😉
The best part is that they're actually flying F-5s
When you think about it it’s most likely Iran. A country close to the Indian Ocean that’s trying to get nuclear weapons in the 80’s
@@doobmate I don't exactly recall the whole story of the 1986 Top Gun, but was there any mention of the aggressor country trying to get nukes? All I recall was that the disabled ship they were keeping an eye on was in the Indian Ocean and slowly drifting into territorial waters of the aggressor country. As for Top Gun Maverick, were they in the Indian Ocean? I didn't think they were.
@@doobmate it's based off a real incident off Libiya, The Operations Room has a great video on it
That Mig had missle lock forever, no wonder Cougar was freaked out in the next scene.
still to this fay i can't tell whether the russian pilot smiled back
The thing is nobody knows what Country those fighters represent.
theyre not russian at all! nobody said theyre russian! more likely theyre americans since they use fucking f5s....or any other user!
@@Crackshotsteph I think it was said they were North Korea, but the USA was trying to reduce tensions with them at the time? That or the USSR.
@@262thunder7 I could buy it being the Chinese. NK would be a stretch. At least for the Indian Ocean.
@@rcslyman8929 The Indian Ocean was selected because it was far enough away from any belligerent nation at the time that no one could say the movie was demonizing them. The original "bad guys" were meant to be the North Koreans, and the incident at the end is a nod to that as the disabled "Communications Ship S.S. Layton" is a not-so-subtle nod to the USS Pueblo incident. Also, the Soviets used to operate out of Communist Vietnam all the time to harass BARCAPs with MiGs while carriers were working their way through that region.
"Mig 28s" gets me everytime
The funny thing is the “mig’s” are actually Northrop Grumman F-5’s
@@Rezin8GamingI know too.
I just noticed something for the first time. At 2:16 the callsigns stenciled on the F-14 in frame say Maverick/Merlin. In the original draft of the movie's script, Goose was Cougar's RIO and Merlin (earlier called Wizard, I believe) was Maverick's (as Goose was the best RIO in the squadron paired with the then "best pilot"), and they got paired together when Cougar turned in his wings. Amazing what high definition brings out. Also, whoever's in the back seat in that shot is wearing Maverick's helmet. Yet at 2:41, so can clearly see Pete Mitchell and Nick Bradshaw mirrored under the canopy.
Lotta people don't know that's Tim Robinson
I miss Goose :( my heart broke when he died and i got so sad when we got to see Rooster look just like his dad. I love Rooster too, he has the attitude of a real pilot and he's just like Goose but also in his own way
no buddy, Mav's idea of fun is going closer to lightspeed. as close as he can ever get.
"I know the finger Goose.." 🤣 Might put this one on later today lol.
At 1:02 Mav is DEFINITELY in some type of insane roll. That is a wicked roll rate on the artificial horizon lololol
Goose is hilarious in this scene lmao 🤣 I love these 2 ❤
I wonder if that guy would’ve still done missile lock on Cougar if Maverick hadn’t done that to his wingman. Also wish there was some type of way they could’ve told us that they fought them at the end also. Would’ve been a nice callback to the beginning of the movie
You crack all of us up.
Maverick fr loves to go upside down on top of other planes canopy-to-canopy
I love to play this scene while blasting my ears away with the engine sounds
This one one of my favorite clips; in part 2 some found this hard to believe when they were explaining it
TopGun movie was a recruitment project for the U.S Air Force. ”Maverick” (Tom Cruise) recruited more pilots than the military itself after people saw the movie.
*Navy

That scene is the peak of the movie. change my mind.
It's hard to imagine this is a real job people actually have
There are fighter pilots and the rare good pilot but even the best pilot is not the best because there is better know your limits don't think just do and every pilot is special its not the plane its the pilot
I love black F-5E Tigers with Soviet stars, 10/10
The Navy pilot who flew as the "Russian" in the MiG was actually Sandy Winnefeld who was the vice chairman of the joint chiefs of staff from 2011-2015. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/James_A._Winnefeld,_Jr.
These aren't russian pilots. These are unnamed enemy pilots.
