Just received a 12 minute standing ovation at Cannes Film Festival, which Tom Hanks said he had never seen happen before. And there is a CZcams video of it and the press conference after is raw and amazing .
Ya know, I’m guilty of not understanding the societal significance of Elvis on the cultural landscape of America, even though my husband, a college professor, tried to explain it to me years ago. He said Elvis punched a hole in the American cultural fabric, allowing fresh water to flow in, and helping to fuel the Civil Rights movement, sexual revolution, and counterculture of the 60s. My husband’s words didn’t really sink in until I saw this movie. And what a tragic ending for this American icon.

Great review. Even Baz can't get over the top for Elvis, because Elvis was always over the top. Hair, clothes, cars, music, jets, bling, he started it all.
Austin Butler sings during the young Elvis era, and the real Elvis voice is blended in later in the depiction of his life. Amazing trailer love it. And its Baz like Daz, or Razz :)
Just booked tickets to see this in IMAX cinema....way to go for a BL movie..a visual feast on steroids ..and a regular screening..gonna be epic...its made for cinema viewing and communal watching according to Baz to start a conversation...I saw the real deal live on 4 occasions 74 thru to 76 .. these trailers are giving me flash backs and take me back to what it was actually like...the biggest superstar in history by a million miles something lost to younger audiences who only have a warped view through negative caractures myths and cartoonish Elvis impersonators...the reality was far bigger than all and everything that has come since.....enjoy the journey and watch it on the big screen with family or friends then you will get it

I turned 67 today and am pointing that out because I worked as an usher at the Greensboro coliseum 47 years ago. Elvis performed there 3 times. I saw all of them. He, sadly had put on a lot of weight the last time he was there but was amazing all 3 performances. I wasn't interested in the least bit in Elvis. Afterwards completely different. The movie is great..... from one, me, who has seen it in the theater 4 times. see you soon.

Nice review of Trailer. - Elvis's manager, Colonel Tom Parker (played by Hanks) says in the film that "if it wasn't for me there would be no Elvis Presley" .. but that's purely a piece of fiction. In reality his manager Colonel Tom actually publicly admitted - "Elvis was so talented, anybody familiar with the industry could have been his manager and Elvis still would have been tremendous success" - he said that in a 1956 public interview. The colonel sometimes gets a little too much credit. He was a great promotor, but some folks forget the obvious ... Elvis was the one with the talent. He's the one that got on the stage and performed, he was the one that ran his own recording sessions. ( the colonel had no involvement with either of those two things). So aside from that statement in the film, in reality the colonel knew that with or without him, Elvis would have done just fine. From what I've seen in both trailers and also from interviews with the director Baz, and also main character Austin Butler, this looks like it's going to be lit. Looking forward to it dropping on June 24th. P.S. I love the reference from you 3 at the end to that classic song "Baby Come Back" by Player - One of my favorite jams from that era
I will be glad when this frigging film comes out and goes away. Just another piece of commercialized crap to enrich people sponging off Elvis' name. The majority is taken from information fans already know and the rest is sensationalized and/or pure speculation because his parents and Parker are deceased and they were the only ones present in private conversations with Elvis so NO ONE else could possibly know what was actually said. The casting of Butler was a piss-poor choice, his movements are grossly exaggerated, and the only good casting is the boy who plays the role of a young Elvis because he at least looks like photos of Elvis in his childhood. The whole thing is ridiculous and anyone who truly cared about Elvis should reject it as nothing but commercial garbage.

Might just be the greatest biopic of all time. And this thing is winning Oscars it has to. I'll be in the theater watching with family

That's Austin singing...Austin sings the 50s songs and Austin and Elvis's voices are blended for the 60s and 70s.
Fascinating how they can do that! I bet it is seamless too. Amazing production we cannot wait to see.
