He had good intentions and wanted to avoid conflict, so I can respect him for that, but the execution was kinda terrible.
He stated that slavery was protected by the constitution while he was President of the United States. What in the world is good about those intentions?
Slavery really was protected by the Constitution, a "Pact with Death and an Agreement with Hell." It was primarily written by slavers after all.

He basically made no decisions, the ones he did make were pretty bad-
( infairness, nobody would have done well in his situation, but he handled like a child hiding their mistakes so their parents won't find out )
I can’t think of a single good achievement of his as president.
Forgot to mention that Buchanan was the only bachelor president and possibly the only gay president.

Yes he did because he was a coward in doing nothing to avoid the Civil War. He almost got impeached when his administration came under criminal investigation

He sure was very weak as a coward. He can’t be a hero because he abused his powers and due to this, became the second president after John Tyler to face an impeachment investigation. Also he did nothing to help reunite the country and avoid the Civil War, which began a month after Abraham Lincoln took office.
