This has been a fabulous interview!!! Absolutely love Nick Cage along with all his anecdotes, and the chemistry between these two is pretty dam awesome too!
This was a great example of what makes both Cage AND Colbert so great. Such personalities come together. Loved it. Hadn’t seen an interview from Cage like this in a minute. Especially not in prime time! Really loved it.
Nicolas Cage is very much in his own league. There's something so charismatic about him that makes him stand out among his peers. An actor (sorry, Thespian!) with the ability to morph his talents for character acting into so many tiers of film, from Blockbuster to Indie and everything in between. A true legend of our time, much like his Idols Brando and Lewis. Thanks Nic for all your inspiring words and passion for your craft. You deserve all the love and recognition in the world, and please never stop making movies!
@@anaperez5442 Oh... well sorry everybody, guess I was mistaken. It can happen, ok? 😂 To me (and clearly others) even though he made "at least two movies each year", he didn't have the same "pull" as he used to in his absolute PRIME. At the very least, he's in the biggest spotlights now, so all good. 😊
Tom Hanks' mantle as undisputed Best Talk-Show Guest Ever has been passed along. I could listen to Cage talk for hours. What an entertaining fellow he is - More of this please.
@@bluceree7312 I did see one Tom Hanks interview, long-form, that was really entertaining and compelling. It is the sit-down he did on Kevin Pollak’s talk show. Over an hour I believe, and I think the clip is here on CZcams. Tom is ridiculously funny in places, with lots of interesting stories.
What a complex, incredible talent! Love Nicholas cage! We haven't seen enough of him. He would have been magnificent as Lestadt in Interview With A Vampire.
Can't say I've ever been a big fan of Nicholas Cage the actor(or thespian, whatever) but as a talk show guest he's simply amazing. His Interviews are always VERY entertaining, he's absolutely hilarous with his over-the-top personality and great sense of humor. What a character!
Better interview than expected, it's nice seeing a guest that's this thrilled just to be there. I think that's a big part of his appeal as an actor, that he really enjoys his work, to an infectious degree. Isn't he a nepo baby?
He is (he changed his stage name to not to be seen that way and not to get special favour though). But he has very good screen harisma and tbh it is very hard to buy that at shop.
Stephen, Stephen, Stephen, Stephen.... I've got a bone to pick with you. Here you are with this amazing guest who comes to your show once in 58 years, and the questionnert doesn't happen. Unforgivable in my book.
Nick reminds me a lot of Jeff Jeff Goldblum in many ways. They both usually play weird characters, have strange speaking voices & also both dress to match their personalities. Love them both.
I ca't remember ever seeing Nicolas Cage interviewed, and I'm shocked. My jury has always been out on him as an actor, but I've certainly enjoyed many of his roles. I had NO IDEA he was smart! A really good interview. I'm glad he mentioned the Dracula with Frank Langella because that's my hands-down fav, but I grew up watching Christopher Lee too. He and Peter Cushing were so great. I haven't been in a movie theater in years, but when I saw the trailers for "Renfield," it made me want to go! Thanks, Stephen, for doing a long interview with him because it was worth it. I haven't given the guy enough credit!
OMG my absolute FAVORITE musical... Really, you can't even call it a musical. It's something else entirely. So to hear that spontaneous performance was magical.
Holy hell, watching this and thinking "are you not entertained?!", the whole time. Wow, so this is why almost every actor out there idolizes Nick Cage. Consummate actor, and probably one of Stephen's all time best guests
First film I ever saw him in was Birdy with Matthew Modine - such a great experience at the cinema, next was Rumblefish and then Peggy Sue Got Married. Man, this guy is cinema to me.
Fascinating conversationalist; Nicolas Cage could write a book on his dialogues alone. For a young Hollywood thespian, he's been there, done that, seen a lot! He's clever enough! Just imagine the stories he could tell!
Nic cage is amazing, and then he busted into my favourite line from my favourite musical. ill take my small wins these days, and damn this whole interview made my day
What a fantastic interview! Nic's still got it!! (Plus, this was a great promo appearance. I was on the fence regarding whether I want to watch Renfield or not, but now I think I will!)
Wow! Now I want to line up every film he was in and watch them all back-to-back. Of course, I also want to go see "Renfield."This "interview" was incredible!
I love Nicholas Cage , LOVE Leaving Las Vegas ...i mean a real actor , pity he blew all his $$$$ but talent surfaces back again from the deep depths of the deep. My respect.
Did that intro start where Stephen was finishing off telling Cage, that he had a dream where Jerry Lewis was gonna judge whether he was funny or not? That's what it sounded like. 😄
Awesome interview! The whole thing riveted me. Love Nicolas Cage! I have not even seen most of the movies he mentioned. I will make a point to watch them. Moonstruck is my all time favorite!
Nicholas Cage is absolutely killing it on this show. I could listen to him talk about his acting influences for hours.
"peach...i could eat a peach for hours."
Sooo good!!
I LOVE HIM! I'd watch anything with Nic Cage in it. Even fly to NYC to see him on Broadway. So glad to see him healthy and well.
Could listen to Stephen Colbert talk to anyone for hours it being with Cage is just a +
You said it! This is one of the all time best
I love how Nicolas Cage was invested in making this a good interview. 100% engaged and so entertaining. I’m a forever fan.
I don't think it's possible for Nic Cage to be anything less than 100% in front of a camera.
After Keanu Reaves this might be the best actor’s interview in years. Nicolas Cage is awesome.
I'd love to see a movie with Cage and Reeves together
@@84paratize OMG yes my heart couldn't take it 🔥💥💗💗
Agree plus add Ethan Hawke last year!!!!
do you mean the one where Keanu says something beautiful about death?
This has been a fabulous interview!!! Absolutely love Nick Cage along with all his anecdotes, and the chemistry between these two is pretty dam awesome too!
And he is a f*****g thespian! My faves are Leaving LV and Moonstruck. The chemistry w/ Cher was undeniable.
quite a refreshing change from the usual vacuous Hollywood Kewpie dolls we usually get
Probably one of the best guests anyone would want to have on their show -- fascinating guy.
That was a great interview. Stephen’s knowledge really played well with Cage’s brilliant interpretations.
When Nic broke out into Pilate, my heart soared!!!!!
This was a great example of what makes both Cage AND Colbert so great.
Such personalities come together.
Loved it.
Hadn’t seen an interview from Cage like this in a minute. Especially not in prime time!
Really loved it.
Jesus Christ Superstar is such an artistic milestone.....unforgettable!
'..in a minute.' ? or in years ?
Cage Is efortlessly hilarious
One of the best interviews I have seen Colbert do... and it wasn't an easy one...!!!
Nicolas Cage is very much in his own league. There's something so charismatic about him that makes him stand out among his peers. Absolutely! ❤
Stephen baiting him into singing Pilate ❤❤❤
This has got to be one of the most enjoyable interviews I have ever seen on the Late Show!
Dammit.
DAMMIT COLBERT!
Don't make me love Cage and think about the decades we missed... just like Brendan Fraser... 😭
what? cage was always there
For The last 40 years Cage have at least made two movies each year
Wait. What?
Just because you didn't see him on the big screen as often as others, doesn't mean he went away.

That was absolutely delightful. Nic Cage is even better than I thought, and what a wonderful conversation this was! ❤
Tom Hanks' mantle as undisputed Best Talk-Show Guest Ever has been passed along. I could listen to Cage talk for hours. What an entertaining fellow he is - More of this please.
Martin Short up there as well
And jaime foxx with his stories, but honestly think Robin Williams was the best talk show guest ever
Tom Hanks? he's so boring.
Nick Cage on the other hand is interesting and a breath of fresh air.
James Spader is another great one.

That was the best damn late night interview in all of history! ONLY Nick! Just lovely.
I didn't want this interview to end. Nick Cage, always entertaining, has the best stories, such a gifted actor. Really enjoyed watching. 🙂

He turned out to be an exceptional guest, hands down!
Very smooth interview. Nic was charming and his passion for acting shone through.
We need a Nick Cage, Jim Carrey and Keanu Reeves film… bank heist comedy?
Loved this interview and def had same brilliant vibes as Reeves and Carrey.
Bruh that's one damn fine lineup.
Great names, bro! never thought of that. It could be a dark surreal comedy. So they can go all the way and Keanu to equilibrate the madness.
You unlocked the Cage

I love Nick Cage. So much. He is the best.
When he broke into singing Pontius Pilate from 'Jesus Christ Superstar', I said, "Oh Yeah!!!"
That's why Nic Cage is one of everybody's favourites.

Broadway, please revive Jesus Christ Superstar exclusively to cast Nic Cage in that role. I would absolutely pay to see that performance 😂❤
Stephen always brings out the best in guests ❤

Might still happen. He usually records them, then they are shown on a different episode a few days later.
Listen to "maximumtrixie" 👍
I came over to tell you not to loose hope but it seems someone already made that point.
Nick is the most weird genius that I've ever seen on film! His range is unbelievable! Love this guy!!
I love how fearless he is!💖
I love this moment- they were just two entertainers having fun! ❤
This was as much a treat for me as it seems to have been for Stephen 😊
Nick is a very eccentric personality.
Nick reminds me a lot of Jeff Jeff Goldblum in many ways. They both usually play weird characters, have strange speaking voices & also both dress to match their personalities. Love them both.
Nick Cage is always great. Proved it again.

Never try to one-up Nicolas Cage...lol 😉❤
Nick seems like a fun guy to hang-out with.
he is so random.
Just a smooth dude and a legend
Oh man, this legend of a man needs to get an Oscar immediately.
Nick Cage has an Oscar. He won Best Actor for Leaving Las Vegas.

If he does a show on Broadway the fan mail would be crazy huge
Love his voice!!
I've never heard Nicholas Cage interviewed. I'm really impressed.
Nick Cage is EVERYTHING. 💥👑💥
Would LOVE to see Nicolas Cage in a musical such as Jesus Christ Superstar. He’s quite a character.

Gotts Love Cage. It's nice to see somebody stick on their own value
Ok.. I'm not a musical guy, but... c'mon. "Gotta happen".
With Stephen!!! OMG!!!
That shit gave me goosebumps!! 😄
Great comment👏😂 from this old NYC musical theatre geek who'd pay $200 balcony to see him as Pilate!!!!
@@hugovallarta same!! 🙌👏🌟🌟🌟
I'd love to see a concert version of JCS with Stephen and Nick, similar to when Stephen was in Company.
What a gem of an interview. Nic ROCKS! 😻
Sensational interview! There is so much substance to Nick Cage, and Stephen is his perfect opposite number.
Fascinating conversationalist; Nicolas Cage could write a book on his dialogues alone. For a young Hollywood thespian, he's been there, done that, seen a lot! He's clever enough! Just imagine the stories he could tell!
From: "I'll be taking these Huggies and whatever cash you got" to "I'm Dracula" and all in between. He is a true Thespian!!
Living legend.
That interview was so funny
1:13 “YOU RIPPED MY SHIRT” such a good freaking movie !
OK I was already in for Reinfield, but I'm with Colbert; Jesus Christ Super Star on Broadway with Mr. Cage as Pontius Pilate. Take my money already!
Just love Nicholas Cage what a great story teller . Great interview by Steven.
YES! For once, an interview where it didn't feel like all the Questions and Responses had been rehearsed prior to filming.
Two brilliant human being!
Digging that jacket, and he wears it well.
Nick is so so fabulous!
Cage is so bright, articulate, talented, interesting... absolutely one of a kind!👏👏👏
It truly would be incredible to work with Mr. Cage. Standing by if needed.
Wish Nick did Late Night more often, he's great! 😂❤👍
What. a legend. What a lucky audience. I worship Cage, a true original.
Love these guys, love this energy❤🔥
I notice when Stephen is a bit star struck, he gets the best interviews. Love that he got Cage to sing!
He should be a weekly guest where you just turn him loose for 20min to talk about movies
What a great interview with Nicolas Cage that was a treat
Nic cage is amazing, and then he busted into my favourite line from my favourite musical.
ill take my small wins these days, and damn this whole interview made my day
Damn Cage crushes it on talk shows, it’s crazy he has barely made any appearances in 20 years.
Nick Cage , Chef’s kiss 😚
What a fantastic interview! Nic's still got it!!
