I know we love her for her pop and r&b hits but damn, she has an absolutely perfect rock voice.
Some have criticized her R&B delivery as being quiet, almost whispered lyrics, but she clearly has power when she wants it.
I didn't know Janet Jackson did rocking songs like this. Great song.
Janet Jackson wrote the Lyrics and guitar riffs for Black Cat . Black Cat received a Grammy nomination for Best Female Rock vocal performance , making Janet the ONLY artist in HISTORY to receive Grammy nominations in 5 music genre's, ROCK ,DANCE, R&B, POP, and HIP-HOP. Janet is phenomenal !
I think this is one of her best songs ever! Wish she had done even more rock type songs!
My favourite Janet Jackson song. This tune rocked hard. ❤️
Yep, my favorite too.
Plus add the kick drum beat to it it blows speakers 🔊
I sure wish you did the video !! JJ rocked TFO in this video and at the Award show that year !!
She was incredible in concert in Daytona Beach during spring break and MTV was there. Such fun times ❤
Totally amazed she didn't make the list as well !! She totally influenced so many others.
💯Britney, Aaliyah, Beyonce, Rihanna, Amelie, Normani...
David Barry played the lead guitar on the album version of this song. Barry subsequently became Jackson's touring guitarist and tour director.
Janet didn't have her first big hit til 1986. She had 2 huuuge albums in the 80's, Control and Rhythm Nation. But, Rhythm Nation was released in 1989, so a lot of the sales for that album was carried over into the 90's. Whitney also started late in the 80's and her success started about the same time as Janet.
This was always one of my favorites from the very first time I ever heard it, before I was ever a Metal-Head. She's AMAZING, she always has been AMAZING. :)
Gosh! I remember this!! Came out before I left for a year in Korea! Great song!! 😅
This is my favorite song of hers and it was #1 hit for her and wrote by her has well. Powerful song with strong lyrics.
The rain at the end is prelude the the next song on the album “ Lonely” , from the album “ Rhythm Nation 1814” ( 1989)
Yep. That album was cool. I like the little interludes in between the songs. Rhythm Nation is one of those albums you listen all the way through.
“Lonely” one of my favorite Janet deep cuts.
The video version is even more rockin’ , you should check it out too if it’s not blocked….
Such a great song🎉
My favorite ❤️😻 song 🤣😍 by Janet is Come Give Your Love 💕😘 To Me! I believe that was her 1st hit 🎯 that came out in 1983!
This one is a 1st time hear 🙉 for me, and it doesn't sound like her to me, but I like that and I dig it! This sound reminds me of Joan Jett because of the agression and energy! It's pretty 🚒🔥 fire! Ciao amigos!
Quite a rocky one by Janet Jackson, perhaps she was overshadowed a bit by her brother Michael. Loved her song with Luther Vandross 'The best things in life are free'-Colin Ward
Great song by the Legion. JANET Jackson JACKSON
i saw her perform this live in the front row of the Rhythm Nation tour and HOLY COW was it amazing! This album was robbed of the Grammy for Album of the year. Shocking snub! No filler and tons of singles. This one went to #1
JANET JACKSON❤ WHY ARE YOU N-O-T DANCEING
The guitarist was Vernon Reid from the band 'In Living Colour'! ✌️😐
The guitarist is Jellybean Johnson, drummer from The Time.
Nobody of well known star power, the guitarist is Dave Barry, her touring guitarist and stage manager. A few years later, she re-recorded it as the Video Mix with Nuno Bettencourt of Extreme on guitar. He rips it a lot better than Dave did, I think.
This was off her last "exceptional" album. Great tune.👍😎
Another magnificent choice.
Loved this song when it came out. Love the attitude and has a little rock vibe in it. And JJ definitely belongs in the Top 10 of the 80's.
Love this song!!xx
David Berry played the guitar
No.
It was Vernon Reid from the band 'In Living Colour'! ✌️😐
One of my favorite Janet songs
That's Miss Jackson to you......😁
Hi Ms. D.. i say if U are a dancer and this Song does not get your motor going then there's a problem.. W.G.
👍👍👍
Wait Janet wasn’t a top 20 80’s female artist???? What the…
Tommy Lee
Disappointing with all the Janet songs to choose from in the 80’s, you went with “Black Cat”. And then she’s relegated to ‘Honorable Mention’ status? *DALE BOZZIO* Girl. 🤦🏽♂️
