RGB Waves in Koch Fractal

  • In this video, there are three wave sources which independently create circular wave impuls in the 7th iteration of the Koch Fractal. However, to make it clearly distinguishable I colored those three waves into three colors. It is interesting concept, because usually we do not separate waves like this (they all act on the same field).
The idea came from Reddit discussion thread, where Reddit user quadralien has suggested this to me. However, the technique I made it is a bit different than suggested.
The video is Full 4K in 3840 × 2160 (4K UHD) - it was necessary to capture all details of 7th iteration of the Koch structure. The wave equation is solved on 3840 × 2160 grid as well. The whole thing works as pure C++ application with OpenGL/Buffers/Avi output implemented using various techniques. Rendering time with numerical soluition and avi output took about 6h on my PC.
Watch in 2X speed if it's too slow (I don't want to reupload faster version also because some details are lost then).

Outstanding! You just showed how to form the Celtic knot (14 seconds) from three circles inside the Koch fractal! Which is one of the modalities of the torus. Fantastic work!

This. This is how I internally made sense of "waves become particles" in physics.

Very nice! I like the "resurgences" of the waves at their points of origin, and their symmetric images.
