    Good work. I put painters tape on the whole board first, then use spray adhesive on paper template. When done just pull tape off. It makes clean up easier.

      Even better is to get a roll of self-adhesive transparent protecting film. It does the same job as painters' tape, but you get a smoother surface with no chance of unevenness.

    Thankful to have found someone who knows how to make videos on woodworking without talking about the process. I don't know many people who need to hear someone ramble on about every single thought they have.... I like how you just show every step visually even putting on your gloves and safety gear... great editing makes for great videos.

    I'm used to larger, corded routers czcams.com/users/postUgkxfQ5_mgwq6PcudJvAH25t-I4D-3cTPz4z so this was a different experience for me. Basically, this is an incredibly sweet machine, fits well in the hand, etc. It has slightly less power than I'm used to, but that's understandable. Maneuvering freehand takes some practice. These days, it's especially nice to be able to avoid power cords. This is above the level of a hobbyist but below a pro level.

    Here is a tip for you, instead of scraping the stencil off with the hand plane, lightly spray mineral spirits on it, wait 10 minutes, and it will peel right off with ease. I use it all the time when working on the scroll saw! Nice video!

      Stran Dyck blue painters tape, then spray adhesive stencil onto blue tape. After your done routing just remove blue tape. The blue tape and left over stencil will easily peel off.

    I like what you did. It has been a long time since I made a sign. It's time. I have some spare cedar in the shop and a small router. What I could use is a small assortment of round nosed carbide bits. Suggestion about getting the paper and the paint off is to use a scraper. I had one of those cheap toolbox saw blades that I cut into a few different shapes and sizes. I use a flat file to sharpen the edges, then go to it. Back in the 60s I sharpened downhill ski edges with a file. The sharp square edge of the scraper can be very effective at removing all kinds of things. Works like a plane only better for some things. No need to sand when you're done. Smooth.
    A trick I used to use to make the signs look a bit like driftwood or weathered wood was to use a heavy duty wire brush to brush away the softer parts of the woodgrain. Very effective. Thanks for posting.

    Instead print in reverse and tape to wood then use Acetone on rag, not sloppy wet but good and moist and wipe on the paper and the design will transfer to the wood. It does a nice job. Also works on Sand blast resist stencil.

    Use carbon paper to transfer the design next time. Itll save you time and the energy involved with trying to plane the paper off of the project, and it keeps the paper from getting in the way of your sight after you have started using the router. Just a thought.

    Friendly suggestion ...
    kindly use the guide bush to get finishing result...
    but for this you have to use templet instead of printed paper...
    but again and again making templet for the new new spelling can be too costly....
    so its easy solution is ,,, make only 26 alphabets seperately .{ one time investment }
    and using the glue sticking tape , paste it temporarily on the working area as a templet by arranging your required spelling...and just do it man ...
    hope you will like this idea...

Any suggestions or advice if we wanted to either have the color, other than black, because I have two grandchildren I wanted to make a bedroom sign for Christmas and I wanted to either have the sign background pink and blue or perhaps it was better if the lettering was that color. I thought to ask others who might have tried this already. Previously I used the Milescraft way and that was fine, but it was a fixed size and limited with no clip art, etc.
