How Probopass Counters the #1 Competitive Pokemon.

- Pokemon Competitive Singles has been turned on it's head with the release of the "Indigo Disk" DLC. Probopass has had surprising success on a new Top ladder team, as a unique trapper that can eliminate the metagames #1 Pokemon, Kingambit.
By taking out this important foe, Probopass enables teammates such as Sinistcha and Iron Crown to run amok.
Let's explore why that occurred using Logic and Facts and such things as that, because I am very smart.

Some will never figure out how to get Probopass in Pokemon Scarlet and Pokemon Violet. But famous player Jim Cool is well aware of the Best Probopass Moveset in Competitive, and even how to Probopass Shiny Farm. Many aren't and never will be. That's just the unfortunate reality of the world.
Arceus exists.
The below text is very relevant to many people.
Game Freak just blew all other online game development schools out of the water with this incredible new 2022 release. You're gonna need to get a game design degree online, and FAST, if you want to make a better game than this. Not even the best strategy games android reddit could hold a candle to this breathtaking Next generation competitive Pokemon experience.
Scream Tail is the Jigglypuff of our wildest dreams. It has been buffed with some higher statistics and the incredible ability, Protosynthesis. Gen 9 Competitive Pokemon wouldn't be the same without this powerful pink blob. He kinda looks like someone I met in one of my game design and development courses.
Gen 9 Pokemon Showdown is one of the greatest online gaming sites in history. From Pikachu and Charizard, to Palafin and Roaring Moon, The new Pokemon games, Pokemon Scarlet & Violet, have introduced a lot of new faces. Can I succeed in one of the best android games of all time? If so, I'm gonna get myself a Walmart bakery Pokemon cake to celebrate.
Gholdengo is a Pokemon made of pure gold. He must have done some online business management courses to accumulate all that wealth. Or perhaps he might want to learn how to make money playing video games on CZcams. In any case, he's a powerful metagame force, with absolutely no interest in online game development schools.

Jimothy I must say I truly whole heartedly appreciate this comment. I'm gonna go read this entire link ❤❤
Probopass is obviously superior to Kingambit as evidenced by having the superior mustache.
Yes a massive Tash
Moustache or nosehairs? 🤔
That is the question🤔
If Super Mario has shown me anything its that no amount of ghost, robots, mutant turtles, aliens, monsters, pollution, etc can touch you if youve got yourself a killer stache
Now that I think about it it looks like a poo on his nose
Steel types believe nosepass to be extremely attractive why else would they be so pulled to him to not be able to switch

Great Tusk already got the funny name, no change needed

Hey, Joltinjoe here. Thanks for covering the team Jim! Big fan of your content and glad you enjoyed the team! ❤
congrats on the ladder peak! nice team

Will find successful, of course
Will find successful? :) yes, yes! Will find successful
Probopass is the kind of guy to aproach you in a café to ask if you'll eat your cookie
PSA for some people in the comments who are confused about the nature of the video: this isn't trying to explain how Probopass is an universal Kingambit counter that you can just put into any team and have it work, this is highlighting how its set of traits allows it to have a very specific niche in OU
Also how the player with great knowledge specs his mons to cover each other, potential matchups and weaknesses. Everything in here is basically as peak as it gets with such a team. Rest is down to player skill level on how they pilot the team, reads on opponents moves etc.
When Nosepass came out in Gen 3 I thought "Wow"
but
When Probopass showed up in Gen 4 I thought "He wasn't done?"
"I got one more in me"
-Mister P
I like how Great Nose is the canon name for Probopass now.
kingambit uses low kick , probopass - i guess my time is over fellas
I think this Probopass takes advantage of the fact that most Gambit chooses to run Iron Head to not lose to fairy.
Probopass is weak to being kicked in the balls
I fair amount also run low kick to deal with other king gambit,
Sinistcha using Tera Fairy: I shall avenge you.
@@tejasdixit4417 it’s always “low kick for other gambits” or “iron head for fairies”
Most of the times, people choose the later because of STAB and the great number of dominant fairies in the tier (Valiant, Ernamorus, tera Fairy mons)
Probopass is one of the strangest Pokemon ever released.
This large nosed creature was an evolution for Nosepass, introduced in the gen 4 games

Man got to 2050 just to be featured in a Jimothy Cool video
We have to have a video on how bodypress changed the game for so many defensive mons. The regis (specifically rock and steal) were given new light with insane defensive stats. The move going off of def and not atk means intimidate can be bypassed and you can actually kill incinaroar, pla for the love of god let stakataka back in gen 9 because I used a troom set with it and had little issues going against the menace.
It also wouldn’t need to gimp its defense to get attack boosts anymore, which means it would be a lot tankier and hit even harder.
@@carnage0685 that was gen 7 only, it had bodypress in gen8
We are so Proboback
lol
It honestly fascinates me that the Steel type makes so many types better defensively than they usually are, all except the Rock type. You'd think putting 2 of the designated defensive types would be a powerful combination, but it just doesn't work most of the time. Ice is another one Steel can't save.
eh ice/steel actually would be pretty good if it didn't have the two 4x weaknesses it has all of the usual steel resistances
Rock type is bad.
@DisastrousIntentionally I wouldn't say that Rock is bad. It's an excellent offensive type, though as I said, GF designated Rock as the defensive type despite having 5 weaknesses.
I really wouldn't say that having a lot of defensive pokemon means that something is a defensive type. We have a ton of bulky ice types and there's no way you could convince me that ice is a defensive type.
@Emma-rw8yo I didn't say that Ice was a defensive type, just that Steel can't save it like it does to a bunch of other types. GF is an enigma when it comes to the Ice type. It's very clear they didn't make Ice to be defensive yet they continue to make more bulkier Ice types.
I mean, it's hard not to conceive Rock and Steel as the designated defensive types when, on average, they tend to have the highest defenses compared to the others and most resistances.
What if
You wanted to be a wall pokémon
But Arceus said
Rock-Steel
If only there was a Thick Fat-like Ability for Ground and Fighting they'd be golden
It could be in a follow up to Paldea. Something like “Great Tusk has been rampaging and some Pokémon weak to its types have the ability Wide Coverage that half damage of Ground and Fighting moves in order to survive as a Hidden Ability.”
Aggron liked it when he became Mono Steel with Filter but Arceus said "No more mega for you"
Lost opportuniny to name sinistcha as Wooden Mugulis

You can't do that, the character limit Is 12
@@camillalapolentona8420 Wood Mugulis
Clay Mugulis
@camillalapolentona8420 Its 18 or 16
Every nose has its nose
Man you know power creep is bad when PROBOPASS rises to the occasion
I'm always intimidated to try competitive pokemon, but it is intriguing to see the development of the Gen 9 metagame.
Honestly, when you're just starting out, it's very fun to throw random shit at the wall in low ladder. I remember I spammed Explosion Skuntank in OU when I was a kid solely because I saw someone using it and thought it was fun
Definitely have to just have fun at first while you learn matchups and meta. This is probably my fav season in terms of mechanics
"This pokemon is just a cruel joke"
-Jim literally 2 videos in his rock pokemon video
something worth mentioning is that probopass is very obvious in what it wants to do, so a gambit player can bait it in with double switches or just save their gambit for the endgame which is what it wants to do anyway. probopass is specifically a counter to early/mid game gambit, and synergises well with this dark weak HO squad, but it's not a solid check that you should throw into balance teams
Why a player would want to use their Gambit early in the game?
@@Luzbel809 the whole point of the probopass team is that it has a lot of threats which force gambit to come in early, and that's how probopass traps it. most teams don't stack multiple dark types, and gambit is by far the best dark type, so if you bring in sinistcha they don't have another solid way to respond, they either have to go gambit or let you run away with the game. so my point was it works well for this specific team, but like you say a lot of gambits don't come in early so if you can't force it in then probopass is pretty pointless.
I cannot believe this guy never got levitate. I was always convinced it had levitate
I thought so as well back in the day.
Levitate would make Probopass a decent mon. At least that gets rid of one of its 4x weakness...
I just can't wait for the future paradox form of Hitmonlee, Big Leg
or just a full chicken, given that hitmonlee is just a chickenleg
It’d be Iron Leg. Remember, future paradox mons aren’t allowed to have interesting names.
Iron Limb
The same thing was said with the megas or other mechanics that are like a physical change and in the end ended in nothing more than what was initially done in its generation, the only mechanic that changes the design of Pokémon that remains are the regional forms
Probopass: "What is my purpose."
Jimothy: "You counter Kingambit and literally nothing else."
Probopass: "Damn..."
But that’s enough
And only some sets. Truly a porygon
Great Nose
I love how every Pokemon on this team has a fire nickname except Great Tusk, because you don't need to call the GOAT by anything other than his government name.
The Iron Mugulis sneak in??? Did we finally find that dastardly mon?,
I’ve always liked this pokemon, it getting body press is such a relief. Now just give it levitate, it’s a literal magnet that floats in the air. Maybe even give it Nose Knows, a levitate that also makes it immune to fighting type attacks because it nose where the fighting type attack is coming from and dodges it. He can smell your intentions Great Tusk, you can do nothing to the Great Nose now. It’s over.
NOSE KNOWS XDDDDDD I love that lmao
Nose Knows: This Pokemon knows when a fighting move is coming and just does not get hit by it
@@Wayte13"just does not get hit by it" sounds fair enough lmfaoo
Greatest Ability ever
This is a very impressive team, how they managed to build a team that's so laser focused on beating Kingambit, but still has enough synergies to make a solid team overall
The hyperfocus on countering something is actually a good strategy basis if you know that certain broader win conditions are enabled by it.
Preserve this in the archives for future False Swipe Gaming Probopass video.
This is the kingambit counterplay the genn9 ou concil expects us to use instead of banning it

This team is amazing. Thanks for covering it!
5:20 Iron Mugulis flashbangs unsuspecting viewers.
Iron Mugulis being in this top team is so funny, we finally found him
Great Nose is a very fitting nickname for Probopass considering its japanese name is "Dainose" which means "Giant Nose"
i guess iron mugilus is trying to infiltrate the Smogon Cansel now instead of the horses.
“Groucho va Shredder” Gen 9 OU has gone too far
Breaking down the mon's unfortunate flaws in its debut generation and why it didn't work, elaborating the strengths of the top tiers in the current generation and how this mon can help overcome them, and ending things off with a beautiful example of its exact niche in practice.. This is an absolutely fantastic video to demonstrate the sheer amount of depth that competitive pokemon can hold. Excellent work.
Bronzong can also counter nearly everything kyurem can throw to it.
It resists dragon and ice thanks to the steel typying and is immune to earth power thanks to levitate.
Unfortunately it is extreemely unreliable against anything else.
You can only use it in a tournament if you are certain your opponent is going to use kyurem.
Used this thing in draft to great effect before, cool to see it's getting use in OU too!
Someone had made a post on smogon that was related to terrastalyzing probopass as fighting lol. With iron defense and body press included in the suggested sets.
Hilarious how that aged well.
Look! Kingambit isn't broken! It loses 1v1 to the extremely common Probopass matchup!
This might be one of my favorite metagame developments this gen so far. Now I wanna try some creative team building again
AV Probopass is also Flutter Mane's counter, it can take up to 4 hits while OH-KO'ing back with Heavy Slam.
Is Kingambit slowly turning into a Gen 2 Snorlax, Gen 3 Tyrantitar or Gen 7 Mega Metagross type mon
Clearly absurdly powerful, but with enough checks and weaknesses that it lets interesting counterplay form?
3:30
Ah yes, my favorite Grass/Ghost type Pokemon. Sinist Cha.
Probopass is one of my top 5 favorite pokemon, glad my man's getting usage
I actually had an idea to utilize this in a team, believe it or not, so it's nice to know I'm not the only one.
Sounded like you were doing an all tomorrows summary at the beginning
I did recently figure out a team that enables both Mienshao and Mespirit to work pretty well, and I tried it in Ranked last season and it actually did pretty good because most people didn't seem to expect what I was doing, I was using a more assist Mienshao with Fake Out, Wide Guard, Coaching and Drain Punch, I got the Coaching idea from a previous opponent actually, and the Mienshao helps the whole team because all the team except Mespirit are all physical attackers so they appreciate the Coaching (especially with Kingambit on the team) but it actually still helps Mespirit as well with Stored Power shenanigans, I love how in comp, sometimes the unexpected can actually net you wins
There is no more booger to be found in this Great Nose and now it finally smells victory. This is insane
That explains why I kept seeing probopass on ladder today.
What’s the song in the background during the battle replay?
To think, in all the opportunities to ban Kingambit from OU, this is the timeline it wasn’t and we get to see the rise of Great Nose as an answer to it.
Words cannot express my gratitude to Stupendous Nostrils, the past paradox form of Probopass
I mentioned Probopass on the Vid about Rock types in Comp
And this Nose fella is here??? Today is a good day indeed.
Great Team^^ So good team play.
0:45 I've been in that exact spot a lot, specifically against Mega-Scizor
Probopass is a mainstay of ZU (Zalways Used).
I have looked at Nosepass's nose and it looks like there are no French origins. Could jimothy cool please confirm if there has been any French ancestry with Encore here?
I wish it got Trick Room.

It would seem that Probopass has made a formidable alliance with the notorious Iron Mugulis. 😟
the present paradox form of Nosepass, Great Nose, is making its rounds in gen 9 OU folks.
King’s Gambit, Falkbeer Countergambit.
My little brother has small eyes, big nose and a moustache, thus i love Probopass because it reminds me of him. I'll never understand why they didn't gave this guy Levitate, it makes it so good in the Radical Red rom hack.

Well, not like Probopass is known for its offence, not to mention the rain.
