This makes games run smoother and makes it so the disk won't spin while you play it. Also since the game does not spin it makes less noise and makes it so it won't heat up to much.
A tip aswell, if you have laser-burn, you can get a friend round and install their version of the game onto your xbox and it'll still work with your laser-burn disc! I did it with my Red Dead Redemption, it works fine now.
I have 1TB samsung 2.5 inch drive and fitted in a 3rd party shell and it holds 200ish titles plus MAME snes mega drive plus is installed for the emulators with all the roms etc , and Ive got dosh box to work to play command and conquer with mouse support :)
I usually install games when I get them and delete them when I beat them. I keep games that I replay a lot, like SSFIV, but I'ts nice to have the option to reinstall games if I feel the urge to play through them again.
Not sure if you mentioned it, but I heard that installing your discs also allow you to just turn your 360 off without scratching your disc. If you turn it off while the disc is spinning, it'll scratch. When you install it, it runs off your hard drive so the disc is never spinning.
@jessmastered in terms of loadtimes for online play, it only makes a difference if everyone has installed the game. Halo Reach has significantly shorter load times, but if no one else has installed the game, then you have to wait just as long when playing multiplayer.
Very nice video, Jimmy! I don't own an Xbox 360, only a PS3, and on the PS3 it is obligated to install the games. Luckily there are some games that don't need to be installed. :-) I have the 40 GB version so my Hard Drive is often full. Thanks for the video!
Not unless its a full game download from xbox live. That way they know you bought it and it has content lock. They don't allow play from HDD installs from disc because of piracy. You could flash your DVD drive or get a ODDE like xkey.
greatest video i have seen thank you for this, i have a couple questions please 1.can this be done on ps3 2.is there a chance of any damaging your system by doing this
Once you install the games it has faster loading times and it only needs to spin thedisk to start the game. Once it's running it doesn't need to spin it anymore and thus preventing RROD.
Yes, you need to keep your Xbox on while transferring files to a new hard-drive. I just did it myself over the Holidays. I rock a Pro with a 250GB HDD. I wanted to get a Slim, but I managed to get the HDD for fairly cheap. I also got a wi-fi adapter thrown in.
cutting down on load times. As such, it's pretty silly to install smaller games like Raiden 4 which don't really have long load times. So the games that are heavy on load times are what's ideal for installing them on the HD.
Hey man I'm thinking of buying a 32GB usb because my hard drive is only like 2-3 GBs.perfect example is my blackops2 disc got the perfect cirlce so now o can't play it.but if I downloaded a buddys blackops2 to my usb could I put my ruined one in the console and play? Need this answer can't find it nowhere
If you really wanted to, you could purchase multiple hardrives and swap them out depending on which game you wanted to play but you'd have to keep track of that lol
I install games that I know I will be playing currently then when I am done I just delete them. However, games I know I will come back to i.e. Fallout 3 I leave installed. Also you only have Disc 1 of Mass Effect 2 on your HDD. I believe both discs installed takes up around 14GB or something around there.
I have a xnox 360 and i really dont know much about it.along with the console i bought a gta v disk which has 2 disk.1 for instal and the other for playing.disk 1 is still working but disk tk got unreadeanle.so can i install the game from disk 1 and play it with out the disk 2
I'm thinking about upgrading from my 60GB to a 250GB just cause I install all my games. Faster loads and less heating up from no disc spinning? Yeah, thats worth it.
@kapze is like that because microsoft, the xbox check if you have the cd (the game). if it wasnt that way you can install a game in many consoles and thats illegal Pd: sorry for my english
matt storch let’s say you have bo2 and it’s insanely scratched and when you play it, it randomly freezes, if you rent/ borrow a working copy download it, you can use the insanely scratched one without a problem :)
i scratched my modern warfare disc so it wouldnt play. but i installed my friends copy and i can play with my disc because the xbox simply reads to see if its actually the game and plays the rest off of the hard drive. just a tip for anyone with a scratched disc.
@DaLooseGoose11 Because they have had a longer Dev time for the PS3 Version, But Im just saying for now, It might not be.... BUT it comes with ALL DLC for FREE and PS3 ONLY DLC on the 1 DISC, So thats what will make it better for me.
sir can I ask, what if I download xbox 360 games iso in the internet or in torrent and transfer it to internal hard drive. It would be read in my console and ready to play?

I quickly skimmed through your video so not sure if you mentioned it, but, do you need a specific hard drive or can i use any ol drive??
What's the point in downloading a game to your xbox but you still need the disc to play it?
I have 500g hardrive with the special addition blue xbox360 and games were previously fast but this straightens out rhe lag thx :)
You helped me ALOT DANK YOU
Do you have to have to have the disk after you download it or can you sell it?
This makes games run smoother and makes it so the disk won't spin while you play it. Also since the game does not spin it makes less noise and makes it so it won't heat up to much.
I install some games but not all of them. Nice video and great collection of games on there.
Im gettin a 120GB hrd drive for X-Mas so thanks for the vid!
A tip aswell, if you have laser-burn, you can get a friend round and install their version of the game onto your xbox and it'll still work with your laser-burn disc!

i experience a lot of glitches while playing red dead redemption, do u think installing it will resolve this?
@TheDEADEXX yes you do but the disc will hardly if not ever spin when you are playing. The fan wont turn on either so it wont overheat.
Very nice video, Jimmy! I don't own an Xbox 360, only a PS3, and on the PS3 it is obligated to install the games. Luckily there are some games that don't need to be installed. :-) I have the 40 GB version so my Hard Drive is often full. Thanks for the video!
If you delete the installation do you loose your game progress?
i wish ps3 gave you the option,iv used up 250 and need to get 500gb now.
Not unless its a full game download from xbox live. That way they know you bought it and it has content lock. They don't allow play from HDD installs from disc because of piracy. You could flash your DVD drive or get a ODDE like xkey.
he just a gamer anyone can be be gamer
greatest video i have seen thank you for this, i have a couple questions please
1.can this be done on ps3
2.is there a chance of any damaging your system by doing this
what is the difference for dead rising 2? cause i know the load times are terrrible, did they change after the install?
Thank you for this
I got to ask, correct me if im wrong.. Whats the point to have games installed on your harddrive when you still need the disc to play?
I can't wait for my 360... i get the 250GB slim tomorrow.
once you have install it, can you play games without having to use a disc?
gosh i wish i had a bigger hard drive mines only 120 GB
Thanks dude
Once you install the games it has faster loading times and it only needs to spin thedisk to start the game. Once it's running it doesn't need to spin it anymore and thus preventing RROD.

So, say if your xbox falls over and your disc gets scratched to where you cant fix it, you can still play.
cutting down on load times. As such, it's pretty silly to install smaller games like Raiden 4 which don't really have long load times. So the games that are heavy on load times are what's ideal for installing them on the HD.
but when you pass the game to the hard drive you can played witchout a disc? because i cant can you please tell me
dude you have a lot of cool games.
good video
And i have a question
can i transfer saved content from my regular profile to my xbox live profile ??
Does it take lot of time to install ??
You can't sign into xbox live with a jtag. I heard that using an ODDE like xkey people were able to play online. But its always still a risk.
Don't know why you made this video but I like it :)
If you really wanted to, you could purchase multiple hardrives and swap them out depending on which game you wanted to play but you'd have to keep track of that lol
So can you play the installed games with out having the disk in?
I install games that I know I will be playing currently then when I am done I just delete them. However, games I know I will come back to i.e. Fallout 3 I leave installed.

Does anyone know how many gigabytes mw2 is for 360 (also are the servers still active?)
I downloaded AC 3 and it worked perfect on my USB I don't have Jtag or a disc
What is the point of downloading the game to the hard drive if you still have to have the disk in the console?
matt storch let’s say you have bo2 and it’s insanely scratched and when you play it, it randomly freezes, if you rent/ borrow a working copy download it, you can use the insanely scratched one without a problem :)

sir can I ask, what if I download xbox 360 games iso in the internet or in torrent and transfer it to internal hard drive. It would be read in my console and ready to play?
Shoj Yambao No. You have to pay & only for the games that Microsoft has in it's store.
Its sucks that Microsoft doesn't allow you to use an external drive like the ps3. I have a 4TB NAS.
Is this RSQVIPER? Sounds like it...
cool thanks but my disc of black ops dosent work a lot it works but not a lot if i install it on my 360 and whith the disc can i play it its dieing plz help
You forgot to mention this clears the possibility of red ring of death....
Hey! Dude Can u help me
how to install game on ps3 without using CD DVD or Blu ray Game CD
Of course because you're playing it from the HDD. The disc is only in there for verification.
what if game requires game disk for playing?
if you intstall games to your hard drive can you still play without a disc and can you play online with out that jtag crap ?????????????
I used to do this with the games I liked but now I just make backups and the games that take a long time to load ( forza 4 ) I install
what happen to the disk?,,i can still use the disk?
How could someone possibly correct a question? Installing the games helps the load times on some games.
Hi friend can you make a video on how to install games into xbox360 in detail
@slimboy55 takes 10 minutes and it takes away the noise if you have the old 360s
@colombianpballer The disc needs to be in the drive for it to work...
