Fun fact, when the notre dame burnt down, the people in charge of restoring it partnered with Ubisoft because they recreated it so accurately especially in scale and detail. They also made the game free out of respect to France at this time. They also donated half a million dollars to the restoration fund

Should note that they 'partnered' with Ubisoft in the sense that Ubisoft shared some of their research, which was likely not necessary but done as a good will gesture.
The Notre Dame in the game, while fairly accurate is not an exact replica of the real thing, so it's useless when it comes to restoring the real life building.

It's not. It's made to be usable in the game, not to be an exact copy. Among many examples, the slope of the roof is less steep so you can climb it, the organ is not the real one due to licensing issues, the statues are copy/paste and mostly not the real ones etc.

A few tips for parkour that i only learned after a few playthroughs:
you can vault over A LOT more things than you think, like those wagons in the city or the medium big walls on the roofs
When you want to quickly leave cover just press RT because pressing A can mess up your assassination attempt
If you use a lot more RT instead of RT+A doing free running and parkour it will be much easier because Arno won't be randomly jumping on a wall or climbing something. It's especially good in close areas or on trees
And using more manual jumping will make everything easier because of how buggy and janky this game be. It's really hard to give an example of this but if you use this and experiment with it you will find out how useful it is

Everyone hates Assassin's Creed unity just because it bugs a lot when it first released but after the patch, its one of the best Assassin's Creed game ive ever played.
I amazed the new parkour system, the smooth stealth, the lived in city, etc. And i saw you feels the same way like me first time paying it.
At 1:07:38, the problem with the ACU fixes mod is that there's an option that's checked that makes the cover less sticky, and makes you automatically leave cover if you get too close to the corner. This kind of disables the ability to do a swap cover. This also means it's harder to peak around a corner for a cover assassination. In the future, if you want the ability to stay at the edge of a corner using cover, I suggest you turn that option off.
A few tips on French pronunciation (I'm sure you'll pick up more as you hear French words in-game, but this should help you with reading out French words that aren't said aloud):
- If a word ends in a consonant that consonant is usually silent, especially if it's a t or s - Louis is "Loo-ee," Bidet is "Bee-day," etc. The French form of Arno (which is the German spelling of the name) is Arnaud, but it's pronounced the same way. R's and N's on the ends of words are also better or being dropped in English, because they're only lightly pronounced in French as forms we don't have, so for example "Bonjour" is more like "Bozhoo" (it's hard to render in English because the N makes the o nasal, which is a distinct sound we just don't use in English - it's not hard to imitate but you kinda have to hear it to understand)
- Double-l is usually a "y" sound like in Spanish, so for example the "sailles" in "Versailles" is pronounced like the English word "sigh," Guillotine is "Gee-oh-teen," and Bastille is "Bastee"
- J is always a softer Zh sound, not a Dj like in most English cases; g is also often pronounced like this, like in the word Bourgeoisie, which is pronounced like "Boo-zhwa-zee"
- Vowels are a bit different from English; a is usually "ah," e is "ay" or "eh", o or "au" is "oh," i is sometimes "ee" and sometimes "a" like in "apple," and u or ou is "oo," ea is usually a nasalized vowel most similar to the "o" in English "on" or "otter," and ai is pronounced like "eye" (these descriptions are simplified for ease of English pronunciation, and there are a few other vowel combos I'm forgetting or leaving out cause they're too hard to describe over text)
French spelling is a bit of a nightmare to figure out as a non-speaker (much like English spelling, lots of silent letters and inconsistent pronunciation), but I hope this helps a bit lol

I just checked, no one mentioned it in the comments. I will say it. This game is designed for 30 fps. When you go above 30 fps, the physics of the clothes start to break down. And you get glitches or bugs in some parts of the game. If you set it to 30 and 60 fps and look down Arno's robe, you'll see the difference bro. Thank you for playing. The book that cameout with the game is a really good read it is centered around Elise and really expands the story to a new level. The true game's story starts is around half way through it. A lot is not said in the game about Elise but one thing you might be interested in knowing is that Elise had access to a few letters that were send by Haytham back in the day. She met Jennifer Scott, daughter of Edward and half sister of Haytham. If you wont read the whole book i would really recommend some video about it after the game cause it really hooked me on the story since it made it that much richer. Same with Assassin's creed 3 but only to some degree cause the book that came out with it is from Haytham perspective made as his journal and the last pages are made by Connor really deepening his character and for me (someone who was not a fan of him due to poor development) it really made him look a lot better cause it gave him a solid ending arc that the game left on the cutting block for some reason. It gave him clousure and some really wise words fit for someone who was in later games mentioned as "master assassin".
Going back on track Elise was inspired by letters of haytham talking about breaking peace between the assassins and the templars and finding a middle ground between their ways of achiving world peace. One thing that you also might've noticed is that she said Arno **was** and not that he will become one. It is cause in said book it is stated that she was in the crowd seeing him perform a leap of faith. Which is as we know a first step to becoming an assassin ever since Altair reformed the Brotherhood.
I would highly recommend that you watch a parkour guide to fully understand the system, as it is by far the most complex in the series. I believe there is a 20 minute video, yes 20 minute video on ac unity parkour by Jcers. I watched this video and it gave me an easy understanding and feel for the parkour, making it now one of my favorite systems in the series.

That codex book is titled "Codex Pater Intellectus" which means "Codex of The Father of Understanfing". However the real latin form would be "Codex Patris Intellectus".
I did have to look it up to make sure, but I had a guess when I saw Pater (thank you Odyssey.. I guess).
A major tip for Unity's parkour system is dont hold down A when free running. If you hold RT+A out of habit from the old games, Arno will do the furthest possible jump he can, resulting in what looks like moon gravity. So only use it for scaling up walls, which also can be done faster by going diagonally instead of straight up.
Free running down will also just look for the quickest line down so if you wanna go down gradually press RT+B only when you want to drop a bit or hold it down to go all the way down.
Unity is an S tier in my eyes so I hope you enjoy it❤❤❤

Great vid, i recommend you to watch a parkour guide for the game, in unity you can kinda control some parts of the parkour and its totally worth to learn it, if not arno does some buggy animations or really long jumps lol, try not press A while going forward, A is only to climb in this system and does not make your character run faster like older AC, anyways i was waiting for this one, cant wait for next episode

About the parkouring system i believe that they changed it since they moved back in time with the series and there are not much buildings on which you can parkour. Because there are not propper citys they are more like settlements.
I would recommend watching a video (I think by “master assassin”) that goes really in depth in using specific tools, combat, and best of all parkour in a really cool and efficient way.
The walking dead was a blast and i really hope i was at least a part of what got you to it since if i remember correctly i was recommending Telltale back in Arkham City playthrough.
I hope you make a small stop to see all possible clem flashbacks in Season 3 to continue on the smaller video of when you reacted to all of the endings of season 2 but if you won't i wont blame ya.

ACUfixes trades the ability to swap cover for a less sticky cover system. this is a worthy tradeoff because the swap cover mechanic is vastly less important than being able to exit cover smoothly. hope this helps.
it also allows for use of tools in positions where you previously couldnt. PLEASE use your items, it is essential for stealth. refer to leo k for more nuanced tips. enjoy!
The co-op missions work fine to this day, the 2-player missions I was able to play with players online, it's the 4-player missions that I have the most trouble to get going.
You can do a lot of fancy diagonal climbing and sideways jumps. You don't need to go directly up or down.

When you are walking near cafe teathre you will see two pins on the map one lates you fast travel to versile another one starts the dlc. If you click it you will start a cutscene thats starts dead kings dlc it is a bit of a spoiler so bee cearfull.
My favorite gameplay in the series. While not even in the top 5 in the series overall, UlI find it the game I come back to the most. There's a lot of fun to be had in Paris.
Happy to see Assassin's Creed back, it was hard to watch the Walking Dead series. I'm glad I did, but I just knew each episode was gonna be sad. Unity is good, they really went all out on the environment and parkour system, and I would agree that this games combat is pretty good - though slightly frustrating at times. With the cover swap, I think you were just being too quick - you have to wait for the position to highlight while aiming with left stick, then press A (or circle) to switch over. There are tutorials as well if you want to practice

About COOP - yes, the playerbase is small, but somewhat dedicated. You can just launch a search for players by accepting the Coop mission (the orange colored icons), but It's better to just play with someone you know or willing to play this game in coop. Sadly, you cannot do plot missions in coop, but running through the city, completing the side quests and doing Coop mission is what you can do in coop.
So far, Ubisoft didn't announced if they are gonna close servers of Unity, but considering that they recently did shut down multiplayer (and DLC content along with it) on all previous AC games + other of their franchises and they completely shut down The Crew, which caused quite an outrage. So, so far, Unity is alive with all of it's components. But Ubisoft made themselves clear that no game, and no DLC will be spared.

Just an FYI, because the game never teaches you this, but holding the parkour/run button by itself can perform basic functions itself, holding the parkour up button is what makes you do massive jumps and take drastic action, so you may not always need it
It was telling you how to swap cover in a situation like that, you can snap between any cover like you're trying to.
I hope you will play the Dead Kings DLC after you finish the game before moving on to the next game because it has a cool weapon concept.
The swap cover thing is peculiar in this game for sure. It isn't as messy with a keyboard and mouse but it gets different in the next game Syndicate. But it is undeniable the parkour animations and the freedom we get are really awesome!

I believe this is the first possible only Assassin's Creed game that had 1:1 scaling, for the height and depth of Paris.
This game definitely has the best looking parkour but that comes at the cost of freedom for me. This would’ve for sure been my favorite AC game if the parkour had more of the originals DNA. But this is definitely close to if not my favorite setting, a 1 to 1 of old Paris. Also revolutionary times just make for a great AC setting. Kind of scary how well they go together😂
When you're doing parkour, Arno does better looking moves if you only hold down RT and not A. The parkour can feel clunky until you play more and figure out the different button layouts. I only use A when I'm about to jump and climb something. Afterwards, only holding down RT feels a lot better.

Im playing this game for a while now (im not that far) but im still getting used to it. I unwillingly jump climb higher (not going inside the window but jump on the ledge above it 😒), the fighting feels difficult etc.
Butttt its probably my fault 😂😒.
I really didnt know how to use a gun, but i think i finally figured it out yesterday 🙈.
I just wish you could click the weapon you want to use in the fast menu.
Besides that, which is probably all on me 😂, i like this game and all its upgrades!

here is a fact about how arno thinks of the brotherhood, even tho its not that big of a spoiler that will ruin your experience, don't read if you feel otherwise. Even at the end arno thinks the assassins are bulshitters and not that great. Ig elise's love made him think that way? maybe. He didn't really turn to templer but neither does he likes the assassins.
I like using the musket as my preferred weapon. There's just something hilarious about a well-dressed gentleman using a musket like a club to beat people into unconsciousness or death😹

Here's a parkour advise. You dont have to always have parkour up pressed. Like if you are following a "predifined path" like tree branches, you can just press R2 and Arno will jump normally and not that exaggerated. There are a couple of short videos that show the difference and I can assure you that it will feel really good to accomplish that. Just leaving my tip tho, you can play as you wish obviously

So, I've watched till the part where you had problems with the snapping cover. So, to switch to the next cover like the game wanted you to, you dont need to look at it. Point the camera beyond the cover you are in (aka forward), then press any side direction (left or right) and then press A. TO get out of the cover, point the moving direction where your camera looks and then A. Which I guess is what you had the troubles with.

This was peak gameplay for assassin creed, don’t expect the same quality for newer games, they still good but the parkour and combat system in this game is the best in my opinion
The main problem with the appearance of the crouch button is that it activated the gamer instinct with crouching in any, even most unsuitable situation. Casual gamers begin to crouch and sneak in the middle of street, ignoring the possibility of blend into the crowd or simply passing by. There's no point in crouching down to steal someone's pocket, but they do it instinctively and only attract more attention.
The most frustrating thing is that in next games social stealth was completely eliminated and for new gamers, the whole Assassin stealth has become associated with generic bushes and crouching walk from enemy to enemy.

Yes, Franklin was there in Versailles, they came with Shay, in fact, it's that day from the final mission of Rogue.
I suggest you turn off a tic of less sticky cover in ACUfixes. While it definitely works, it makes it TOO less sticky, to the point it's hard to actually stay in the cover. I prefer clunky vanilla on that one, but you do you, try both. That's why you had problems in cover intro mission. Otherwise, ACUfixes are really great, but it's hard to notice any of them. The one you can notice is more flashy moves that Arno makes are performed more often without any effort. In vanilla, you can do any of them mostly at will, but you have to be an expert of Unity parkour and know what you're doing, which is a hard thing for a new player, since the game never explains ANY of the advanced stuff. And yes, I wish they've kept, fixed and expanded Unity parkour system, that's really the best. In Syndicate you'll experience it one last time, less buggy, but far more dumbed down.

Anyone who hated this game when it was “bad” doesn’t deserve to enjoy it when it became “good” the game had bugs and the multiplayer was unplayable but the game itself was still really good and interesting and the combat was so satisfying I’ve beaten all the ac multiple times and this is my second favorite after origins!!
Unity still has a very active multiplayer scene, so definitly give it a shot.
The co-op missions are fun tough lack of communication means stealth is usually ignored. I really want to see something where they build on them combined with the option of the old multiplayer gamemode from Brotherhood to Black Flag.
On my first playtrough the main story seemed short for some reason.
So my reccommendation is to finnish one district of the city in between sequences.
I like the parkour in Unity, but I still prefer Brotherhood/Revelations cause there's more skill involved in getting up and down.
Syndicate is a good game, but when you'll play it you'll understand pretty fast why people are so split on it.

when you try and go to the next cover you shouldnt look at it with the camera but rather keep the camera at how it was when you went into cover.
