  • This 2006 Hyundai Getz belonged to a late relative of ours. The Getz sad for almost a year. Time to change the Timing belt, Oil, All filters and spark plugs. We also needed to figure out some electrical problems as well. It was also time for a new Airbag module and dashboard lights.

    When should stick shift oil to be changed? I did all the same maintenance you did on mine 2007 Hyundai Getz. I recommend using oem oil filter because non original makes engine louder sound. Also remember to tight it hard because it can come loosen. I had that issue on mine when changing filter.

    IT pays to loosen off the 4 water pump bolts whilst the fan belts are still on,makes it easier to remove them.

    • @AbsoluteRebuilds
      @AbsoluteRebuilds  Před 4 lety +1

      You could risk leakage if you loosen those bolts! If you mean the auxilary belts. It's easier to loosen the alternator bolt for one belt and the steering pump for the other.

    • @adoreslaurel
      @adoreslaurel Před 4 lety

      @@AbsoluteRebuilds I meant the four bolts holding the pulley onto its shaft, I found that if you loosened off the belts, that the pulley would wander around whilst you were trying back them off, makes it easier when they are slacked off a bit. I cant find the spark plug gaps in my down loaded manual, must be there somewhere. I tried to get the eleven pounds pressure on the belt when installing the new belt but found it damn near impossible to deflect it that far so I set at what it was originally. Great that you get a OEM water pump with a Dayco belt plus 3 engine oil seals should you need them plus tensioner bearings. If a dealer did the job bet he would only change the belt and leave the old water pump and bearings in place. dealer quoted me Aud$1,000 for that service, I just had to invest in a cheap 240 volt impact driver. tried to get the crankshaft nut undone letting a bar hit the concrete using the starter motor, but it has no hope.

    • @AbsoluteRebuilds
      @AbsoluteRebuilds  Před 4 lety +1

      @@adoreslaurel Ah oke! on this Getz the waterpump was driven by the auxiliary belt. Not by the timing belt. If the waterpump goes out it doesn't mess up the timing. I use a Dewalt DCF899 cordless and I love it! It has 950NM. You can try to put it in first gear and let someone hold the brakes and use a pry-bar. Be careful that the bolt of the crankshaft pulls doesn't break.

    • @adoreslaurel
      @adoreslaurel Před 4 lety

      @@AbsoluteRebuilds Well if you know the spark plug gaps I would appreciate that, I ordered an Air cleaner filter and oil filter once and they threw in a set of plugs, I just looked at the gap and thought Yeah Ok, and It runs ok but It's annoying that the downloaded manual does not seem to feature the gap.

    • @AbsoluteRebuilds
      @AbsoluteRebuilds  Před 4 lety +1

      gabriel fernandez It's actually not that hard. For the one belt you need to lose the steering pump bolts a bit. Put a crowbar in between so it can shift forward or backwards, so the belt can come of! Same thing for the alternator belt. Just losen the bolts of the alternator a bit so it can move forward and backwards. If you need more info just send us an email. We will help you out!

    Why did you change Timing belt? What oil you recommend to use whole year? In winter its -35C and in summer +35C. Car is mainly used for quick shopping. I would wish you make part list next time the model you used. This car have recommend to use NGK copper spark plugs. Any iridium will do fine. Other than NGK spark plugs won't last long.

    • @AbsoluteRebuilds
      @AbsoluteRebuilds  Před 4 lety +1

      joku viisas The car is already 14 years old. It is advised to change the timing belt every 7 years (drie rot) or 100.000km. I used 5W30 we live in a moderate climate tho. You might need to use oil special for your climate since there is such a difference in Temp. The spark plug type really depends on what car. Indeed some need iridium due to the ignition and fuel system. I will add a parts list next time! Thanks for the tip!

    • @mb8787
      @mb8787 Před 2 lety +1

      Well, the nummer before the W in the only specs says how good it performs when cold, the lower the better, 5W are good for Scandinavian winters, when you want your car to run easily when starting it in freezing conditions. The number behind the W tells how good the oil performs when warm, the higher the better. Guess 5W30 would be sufficient for a Getz, especially for short runs only. 5W40 can also be used, it will lubricate better if/when the engine runs hot.
