- This 2006 Hyundai Getz belonged to a late relative of ours. The Getz sad for almost a year. Time to change the Timing belt, Oil, All filters and spark plugs. We also needed to figure out some electrical problems as well. It was also time for a new Airbag module and dashboard lights.
BTW have you seen the huge update on the 2010 Jaguar XK Convertible build?

I have a big problem with a hyundai getz , the last dude that worked on the car just destroyed radiator circuit, said he replaced belts and lied , he broke a coil conector just to try to remove a hose and he fixed in place with zipties ,its the first car im working on and its a nightmare.Thank you for your video ,any help at this moment is gold.
Hey! Please send us an email: info@absoluterebuilds.com with your problems, hopefully we can help you to get your car on the road again!
Excellent car , been using one since 2008 with out problems
Good Choice!
Also since 2008. Last week changed all four belts due to the water pump belt snapping leading to the radiator pipe bursting. Something to look out for.
Really nice video. Clear indications for clear understanding .
Thank you!
Would love to see how that crank pulley bolt came out. Never that easy
Really good comprehensive guide
When should stick shift oil to be changed? I did all the same maintenance you did on mine 2007 Hyundai Getz. I recommend using oem oil filter because non original makes engine louder sound. Also remember to tight it hard because it can come loosen. I had that issue on mine when changing filter.
The best would be around 100K-120K kilometers. I must say I'm pretty happy with the MANN product line!
@@AbsoluteRebuilds Do you have foggy windows problem in this car? Do you have problem with camshaft sensor? My car steam windows badly fast.
joku viisas Unfortunately all the Getz have this problem. What really helps is put shaving cream on the window. Let it sit and wipe it clear! No more steam/foggy!
Thanks for sharing
Very nice detailed video!
Really appreciate it! 🙏🏻 Let me know if you need any help!
Very nice video! Thanks :)
Thanks Richard!
I own a getz year 2009. May I ask how many engine bases has and where? Thank you!
IT pays to loosen off the 4 water pump bolts whilst the fan belts are still on,makes it easier to remove them.
You could risk leakage if you loosen those bolts! If you mean the auxilary belts. It's easier to loosen the alternator bolt for one belt and the steering pump for the other.
@@AbsoluteRebuilds I meant the four bolts holding the pulley onto its shaft, I found that if you loosened off the belts, that the pulley would wander around whilst you were trying back them off, makes it easier when they are slacked off a bit. I cant find the spark plug gaps in my down loaded manual, must be there somewhere. I tried to get the eleven pounds pressure on the belt when installing the new belt but found it damn near impossible to deflect it that far so I set at what it was originally. Great that you get a OEM water pump with a Dayco belt plus 3 engine oil seals should you need them plus tensioner bearings. If a dealer did the job bet he would only change the belt and leave the old water pump and bearings in place. dealer quoted me Aud$1,000 for that service, I just had to invest in a cheap 240 volt impact driver. tried to get the crankshaft nut undone letting a bar hit the concrete using the starter motor, but it has no hope.
@@adoreslaurel Ah oke! on this Getz the waterpump was driven by the auxiliary belt. Not by the timing belt. If the waterpump goes out it doesn't mess up the timing. I use a Dewalt DCF899 cordless and I love it! It has 950NM. You can try to put it in first gear and let someone hold the brakes and use a pry-bar. Be careful that the bolt of the crankshaft pulls doesn't break.
@@AbsoluteRebuilds Well if you know the spark plug gaps I would appreciate that, I ordered an Air cleaner filter and oil filter once and they threw in a set of plugs, I just looked at the gap and thought Yeah Ok, and It runs ok but It's annoying that the downloaded manual does not seem to feature the gap.
The parts store gave me the NGK BKR5ES-11 Gap: .043" (1.1mm). Hopefully this helps!
But the video doesn't show how you put it on the correct timing or the marks
Man can you show me how to change the serpentine belt i have also a 2006 hyundai getz
gabriel fernandez It's actually not that hard. For the one belt you need to lose the steering pump bolts a bit. Put a crowbar in between so it can shift forward or backwards, so the belt can come of! Same thing for the alternator belt. Just losen the bolts of the alternator a bit so it can move forward and backwards. If you need more info just send us an email. We will help you out!
@@AbsoluteRebuilds me thank you very much you are a pro. Also thanks for your time

Greetings a help please, I have the packaging of the additional coolant broken and I want to replace it, according to the one I have has the replacement code is 25430-1C000, I would like to know if the container with the replacement code 25431-1C000, falls the same or works same in my hyundai getz 2008? Thanks in advance.
Hi.. My hyundai Gets is giving problems at my starter please show me how to remove an replace it
Sorry the vehicle is not longer available for us. There should be some video’s on the web about that!
What size of socket did you use to loose the spark plug? My getz problem. Cannot start. But cranking.
It’s socket size 16. You want to check if it has spark, fuel and compression. Let us know if we can help you
@@AbsoluteRebuilds thank you sir for this advice. I let you know if my car can start
Why did you change Timing belt? What oil you recommend to use whole year? In winter its -35C and in summer +35C. Car is mainly used for quick shopping. I would wish you make part list next time the model you used. This car have recommend to use NGK copper spark plugs. Any iridium will do fine. Other than NGK spark plugs won't last long.
joku viisas The car is already 14 years old. It is advised to change the timing belt every 7 years (drie rot) or 100.000km. I used 5W30 we live in a moderate climate tho. You might need to use oil special for your climate since there is such a difference in Temp. The spark plug type really depends on what car. Indeed some need iridium due to the ignition and fuel system. I will add a parts list next time! Thanks for the tip!
Well, the nummer before the W in the only specs says how good it performs when cold, the lower the better, 5W are good for Scandinavian winters, when you want your car to run easily when starting it in freezing conditions. The number behind the W tells how good the oil performs when warm, the higher the better. Guess 5W30 would be sufficient for a Getz, especially for short runs only. 5W40 can also be used, it will lubricate better if/when the engine runs hot.
Great video. Would you share the torque specs here? Will be following your instruction on how to replace timing belts on Getz
Let me know on which bolts you want the torque spec! I will provide it to you!
Hi, excellent video. Which model of Ancel OBD you use?
I really have no clue. It doesn't work on all cars tho!
Thanks, i have the same model and searching for reliable scanner.
What part did you change at the gear?
do you have to remove the engine mount bracket to remove the timing belt? @ 5:13 it looks like it can pull out without removing it
Sorry for my late reply, but it has to be removed
What lights are there in the cluster?
If I recall correctly they called 2 W T4.2 bulbs. They also have LED for upgrading!
Is it petrol or diesel
Was the odometer light one of the lights you replaced? I need to do mine but have read needs new LED soldered to the PCB. Hoping it is a bulb instead.
Luckily they are just normal bulbs! There are a few different variations of bulbs so you might want to take it with you to the parts store!
@@AbsoluteRebuilds thx, I've replaced the odometer light now, & tachometer x2 & speedo x 1 with those little wedge globes. Something to be aware of is the originals are soldered to the contacts. Don't try to just pull them out, ease the contacts, globe & all, from the plastic holders.
@@pmd7914 omg just recently my odometer light has been temperamental. Sometimes it will work and sometimes it wont. So just changing the globe worked for you? Thanks
@@MrJewripper yes just the globe. But remove the metal contacts either side of the globe so they & globe come out as one. Push them inward & upward with something small pointy like a mini screwdriver. Then bend the wire legs of the original globe close to the contacts to break them free. No need to solder new ones, but check working before reassembling.
@@pmd7914 sweet thanks will have a go at it
Wow u did good :-)
Thank you 💪💪

How did you sync camshaft and flywheel ?
There are original markings on the crankshaft and camshaft. There are also marking on the engine casing as well.
Yea, nah. Click bait title. You skipped past so many things without explaining. Waste of time.

Mate u suppose to open oil cap 1st then drain the oil to by circulating air through all oil will comes out not like u did drain it and then open the top cap when filling oil that’s wrong procedure 🤷♂️👎🏻
